I bought carenel after watching your last video on sunscreens and OMG I love it! I have breakout prone skin and I wear make up and I love that carenel do not peel under my make up and also leaves skin matte for so long. Thank you Cas for your recommendations
Yes omg when you mentioned knowing people who have suffered from skin cancer... 😅. The number of times people have practically rolled their eyes at me for always looking out for shade; taking my time before I go out to make sure I'm covered in sunscreen and wanting to make sure I reapply etc. When I was younger, a family friend lost his nose to skin cancer. Luckily they did a skin graft for him but it was pretty traumatic to witness the entire thing... It changes you! Everyone needs more respect for the sun 😅 I can't fathom how light skinned people like me can go out in the sun covered in oil and lie there for hours on end without fearing for their frickin lives!
I used to use the same one, but then I realised that the Eucerin Dry Touch Ultra Light Gel SPF50 for the body is exactly the same except it's is cheaper and is 200ml, plus it's ultra water resistant. Save yourself some money and try it. I won't use anything else now and I'm saving a fortune x
Is it vetter than the la roche posay one? And is it waterproof as in leaving a film/ layer on the skin or sinking into the skin while providing protection
The elta MD sunscreen is my favorite! It’s what got me in to wearing sunscreen regularly when I was 16 and acne prone - I refused to use anything else. Great list 😊

Does the Octinoxate ingredient that's present cause any health issues ? I've seen people say they stay away from products with that ingredient. I really want to get my hands on a good sunblock and was highly considering this one .
I also love this sunscreen! My only issue is that I wish they made a larger sized bottle of it!! I run out pretty quickly after reapplying multiple times a day lol
I have cystic acne and really like the Paula's Choice youth-extending daily hydrating fluid spf 50! The Kinship self reflect probiotic moisturizing sunscreen spf 32 (it does have a weird cast for like every skin tone but it goes away)
I was just looking at it in Sephora and it feels really good on the skin. I was afraid to get it because I’ve been having a lot of hormonal acne and sensitized skin.
Isntree Hyaluronic acid watery Sun gel! I love it. And I have acne prone sensitive skin. It doesn’t burn my eyes or face. It’s moisturizing and doesn’t leave me greasy. Healthy glow but it’s hard to find in stock 🤣🫶🏻
Love this sunscreen! The only one I have found that doesn’t break me out or irritate my eyes. Almost finishing my first bottle and just ordered two more.
Yes yes yes to all you said. I break out from eeeeverything. Plus usually my skin burns from sunscreen. I can't even use like "regular' moisturizer. But holy jesus the isntree sunscreen is pure gold. My holy grail. I never had a cream like that, that is actually a sunscreen. Even the dermalogica sunscreen that Cass raved about was horrible. White cast, burns and flakes the more I rubbed it in.

I’m so glad I found this video. I struggle with adult acne on and off & I pretty much stopped wearing makeup in 2020. But now, whenever I do wear makeup I breakout very badly. I wanted a tinted SPF or moisturizer just for some light coverage and I figured it would be easier on my skin but everything I’ve tried so far has caused me to breakout! I’m going to check out your recommendations and hopefully find something that won’t cause a breakout 🤞🏼
This happens to me too! I'm also gonna try out Cassandra's recommendations. I can't wear foundations or concealers anymore without the unwanted side effect of extra acne so I tried the Ilia super serum skin tint spf 40 as a replacement...it was so dewy it seemed borderline greasy on me (even after shaking the bottle)! Unfortunately, I nearly always breakout from it. So it didn't help with my skin 😕 and I really wanted to like this product 😭. Have you had any success finding an spf/moisturizer that doesn't break you out? Or which are the products you personally avoid that don't work for your acne prone skin?
I’m glad I’ve just found this video from you Cassandra as I’ve shelled out for the colorescience products both sunforgettable and the powder for my Disney trip soon. I’m a pale british rose who’s face hates the sun and I don’t want to burn
so i just finished the unseen supergoop and i loved it! i just started with the dr. sam’s flawless sunscreen and was so excited to use it, but i hate it lol. i feels so heavy on my face. i was looking at the one from zitsticka though because i love their products. so i think that’s what we’re moving into next!

I've developed a simple skincare routine that **finally** incorporates daily sunscreen. I live in Florida, and hadn't worn sunscreen regularly until recently. I am 39, and have lived here for over 20 yrs. Long overdue, I know. But better late than never. My only issue is that while I'm starting to adjust my routine for aging skin now that I am starting to get to my later years, most of the hydrating products I use make my skin look shiny. Not oily, just shiny. And then adding a sunscreen on top makes my face like a disco ball. To counteract the shine, I used to put a translucent setting powder by E.L.F. so that my face was still natural looking, but mattified. I've since switched to an spf powder to put on top of my cream sunscreen. I was wanting to know if there's any way I can avoid the non-oil, non-grease shine, so that I don't have to add that extra step of powder?
Australian gold tinted bb cream sunscreen is AMAZING! matte, moisturizing, cheap, very all natural, waterproof, and lightly tinted! its mineral based :) not white cast. Its the only one that doesnt break me out!
you mentioned Eltamd being cruelty free and when i looked on the internet all websites were saying they weren’t cruelty free and there was even an article on their success in china

Hey Cassandra, just wanted to say that I gave the Zitsticka sunscreen a shot partly because of your recommendation, and I've been really enjoying it! I have very acne prone skin that I had under control until the beginning of this school year when it started freaking out (a fair amount of cystic acne) :// I saw a derm and used tretinoin for a few months but my skin did not appreciate it. I started using benzoyl peroxide and 15% azelaic acid instead and my skin liked that a lot more but I was left with a lot of PIE and still was getting a decent amount of acne (but much better than before). The azelaic acid wasn't helping with the PIE as much as I had hoped it would. I bought Zitsticka Megashade a couple weeks ago and I believe that it's helping with both my acne and PIE. It also gives me a nice glow and blends in beautifully. I still get a few pimples here and there, unfortunately, but my skin is definitely better. I can't say with certainty how much the sunscreen has helped because I'm using BP and azelaic acid in combination, but it seems as if my skin has not only been improving but improving at a faster rate since starting the sunscreen! Might be the placebo but either way, I'm happy.
My fav is isntree hypotonic acid watery sun gel. I’m brown and very acne prone, and it’s the only sunscreen I’ve tried that doesn’t give me really deep acne breakouts
the elta md is the only sunscreen i’ve tried so far that doesn’t break me out and actually controls oil while still giving a nice finish. and i do think it actually helps my skin. HOWEVER!! for me (as you mentioned) it’s does pill up pretty badly… it looks like my whole face is peeling by the end of the day. and there is zero way im able to wear makeup over it. So i’m looking for alternatives… thanks for the recs cass!

Ive been really loving the Starface Clear as Day sunscreen! feels like a solid dupe for supergoop at half the price! Its also been playing well with my oily acne prone skin!
I wanted to love the Zitsticka SPF when I found it over a year ago. It was horrible for reapplying because it kept making me look more and more greasy and oily. Also, it felt heavier everytime I reapplied. It made me look super oily. I wanted to slap myself for not using it anymore because Im cheap and felt crazy for throwing out a 40$ SPF. HOWEVER, the natural smell of it (even tho it's fragrance-free) smells like oatmeal and vanilla. It smells really nice and like...a vanilla baby drink or something.
Some s*x bot stole your comment btw but what I was gonna say is that instead of completely throwing it away since it is an expensive product, you can use it on your body during the summer for a glow in the sun.

I was excited about trying Megashade too and it didn’t work for me at all. It immediately made my oily skin look and feel super greasy even after the first application, and the greasy appearance didn’t go away. What I find even more disappointing is that it left a burning sensation on my face and felt more drying than hydrating. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, so when I first tried Megashade and noticed the discomfort, I thought my skin was just a bit irritated that day because of the topical acne treatment I use. But I tested it a few more times the following weeks, and my face always burned and felt tighter than when I use my usual sunscreen from la Roche-Posay. So I decided to leave a negative review on Zitsticka‘s website. I confirmed my e-mail address and was told it had been verified. However, weeks later, I still can’t find my review on the website! I messaged Zitsticka on Instagram and was left on read. I hardly ever comment and don’t like being unnecessarily negative or critical. But I do have to say I feel frustrated, and I wanted to share my experience.
I use zitsticka as a base, and as the day progresses I would reapply with an spf powder (supergoop), or a mist (sun bum) to reduce the heavy feeling it would give
I recommend the sun bum spf 30 tinted sunscreen! I’m very acne prone and I use almost exclusively mineral sunscreen because of skin sensitivity, especially around my eyes. It goes on buttery but leaves your skin more matte. It’s not super cheap, but it’s priced extremely well for a tinted sunscreen in my opinion. I only use a little of it for applying over another cheaper mineral sunscreen to hide the white cast. I’m in college so I can’t afford to use it as my primary sunscreen lol. It does the job well, and lasts me quite a while using it that way so it worth the cost for me. It gives a beautiful natural looking mild coverage the way I use it, but idk how it would be if I applied a lot of it. Since it’s tinted I can imagine it not being perfect for everyone, but I absolutely adore it. I’m cool toned and very pale btw:)
I want Cassandra’s opinion on this Sunbum one! I’ve recently started using it and I really like it. However, I’m new to the channel and I’m unsure about some of the ingredients.
@@celestialmama_jupiter what do you mean "unsure about the ingredients"? If it's on the shelves, it's safe to use. Market regulations exist for a reason and despite what the green lobby are trying to convince people, it's not in the best interest for companies to be poisoning people with their products
@@celestialmama_jupiter it's great! Good filters, a few extracts, if you don't react to it it's a good one. Are you using the one in a white or yellow bottle? I'm obsessed with both.
@@jamiel264 I’m using the white bottle. I’ve used Nutrogena for years and learned that they aren’t cruelty free. I’m trying to do better so I immediately went looking for something better. Settled on Sunbum. I haven’t had a reaction yet. 🤞🏻
@@sunscreenhoarder6558 No, I mean I’m learning what all the official names are for ingredients. What each scientific word is and how it works. No need to go on the attack. Maybe lead with a little less aggressiveness? People are just trying to learn.

I have a very sensitive acne prone skin. I used to hate sunscreens, I tried so many (LRP, Estee Lauder, Avene, Biore, etc etc), but recently found Apivita Hydra Fresh Face Gel Cream SPF50 which I use as a day moisturizer, I've bought it three times already, which is crazy. It's a gel texture which moisturize but doesn't give me an oily look, but looks a bit dewy. They also have Wine Elixir SPF30 cream, which is matte (never saw something like that!), I use it on cloudy days or when I stay inside. They both don't break me out, don't feel greasy, don't sting the eyes and don't make me look pale. It's a greek brand, def recommend to try if you are in Europe

The Apostrophe one is literally amazing I am sensitive oily skin acne and rosacea prone and it is the best summer spf for me. It’s only downfall is that it isn’t waterproof but I can reapply and just use a different one when I swim. Apostrophe is what cured my acne and rosacea too I use both their oral and topical treatments.

I've been trying A LOT of affordable SPF from Stylevana and the Care:nel one is a big NO for me. It left a very bad whitecast on me no matter how long I rub it in (I'm Asian and have medium skin tone) and it feels very very dry on me (I have combo skin).
My go to is the biore uv rich watery gel. Yes it leaves slightly a white cast but I like it, as it smoothes out my skin tone and covers the redness of my cheeks. Also it leaves my skin incredibly smooth and soft. I love it and will buy it again and again!
My acne was actually get better but now that it's summer and I've been outside more and having to wear more sunscreen than usual I've been breaking out like crazy😥. So thank you for these recommendations💛
Mineral sunscreens can actually help acne so I hope you can find one that works for you! Personally I love Hero cosmetics sheer green tint spf and Bliss skincare tinted spf.
@@goodgriefff ok thank you. I usually get broad spectrum. I think I've tried one mineral and it was a powder😅 but I will definitely look for more mineral ones now
@@aliciaboggs1456 a mineral powder isn’t bad! But sometimes there’s ingredients in broad spectrum or chemical sunscreens that make us break out so the zinc in mineral usually really helps with acne.

The Zitsticka Sunscreen broke my heart. It was so greasy! My makeup just slid off it. I really wanted to love it. I love the idea of it a serum sunscreen for acne-prone skin, but man, it's so greasy!

I absolutely love Elta MD sunscreen, I also use the AM moisturizer and it’s amazing! I tried using the PM therapy one but that one actually breaks me out a lot, I don’t know why so I just stopped using it Anyway, I love their products, I have acne, adult acne and using a creamy lotion-less face wash with elta md am therapy and their skin sensitive sunscreen just makes my skin look so healthy and shiny, like that good shiny skin haha
Hi Cassandra, I have been using the Body shop skin defence lotion or essence spf 50+ depending on what I can get, and I have really large pores and very oily, to say it is the first spf I have ever used that my skin is not oily with it. My daughter who is very acne prone has started using it and she is also finding it amazing. She is a sports coach so spends alot of time in the sun.
Hey Cassandra, after seeing Lab Muffin Beauty Science’s latest 2 shorts (titled something like “Why SPF Makeup Doesn’t Work (in both powder or liquid form), I don’t think I would ever use SPF makeup because of how much you truly need to use (read: cake face). I don’t think you are willingly misleading folks with saying the powder sunscreens are adequate and actually achieve the SPF number they tout but it might be something to look in to.
I look at it as it can't hurt to use it as makeup, just don't rely on it as sunscreen protection. It's a bonus that it has at least a little protection since there are still a lot of people out there that don't wear any sunscreen 🙃
@@mariannewm26 True, it’s better than nothing… but is SPF 1-8 anything? I agree with you that it should never be relied on so I think skincare influencers should be aware and emphasize the facts. According to Lab Muffin (chemistry PhD and cosmetic chemist), these sunscreens are tested at 2g per square centimetre and that is what achieves the SPF label on the bottle.
@@miniciominiciominicio I also feel like these products should be made to be the proper SPF if used the way they're supposed to be. I don't know if that would even be possible though
@@mariannewm26 For sure. It’s just another thing that consumers aren’t protected from, like eye creams that are simply overpriced moisturizers with the same ingredients within the brand.

I’m never giving up my Hero sunscreen 30 spf (20$) and R&R 50 spf (28$), it’s tinted! The holy grails! Never pills, never stings never broke me out, not greasy, glowy and protects perfecty. Both of them are 100% mineral, zinc oxide based, the R&R one has niacinamide as well, the Hero one has a green tint so it helps with redness! I found both at Target, the Hero one is at Ulta as well. I love the Elta MD Clear in hotter weather; it just works. And pills under makeup though that seems to depend on the humidity. To counter that, I’ve applied it I’m two very thin layers, leaving 15 minutes between layers or any makeup. I do have a question - you said that the Murad mattifying sunscreen has an SPF of 15, even though the packaging says 45. Is the packaging wrong? Thanks!
dr. dray has actually recommended this sunscreen before, the md solar science tinted mineral creme spf 30. it’s sooooo incredible. if you are super super fair skinned it might be too dark (the lightest shade), but i’m decently pale and it just makes me look slightly tanned. it blends into the skin beautifully and is hydrating without being greasy/oily or shiny. makes a perfect base for makeup or if not it just leaves your skin very soft and moisturized. i have extremelyyyyyy dry, sensitive, acne prone, rosacea prone skin. this is about $25 but it’s worth every penny. cruelty free, vegan, sustainable packaging, dermatologist tested, safe for sensitive and acne rosacea prone skin! says it right on the bottle. i wish i could find a more affordable one, like $10-$15 dollars, but this is so worth the extra money.

Cassandra! You NEED to try the Iwostin Solecrin Purritin SPF 50+! It's very gently mattifying but not enough to pill or cake up. As far as the ZitSticka sunscreen goes - I used a whole bottle and I don't know what's happening but it was one of THE MOST greasy and shiny sunscreens I've ever used - AND I HAVE DRY SKIN. I like the Sunday Riley and Drunk elephant spf. The Sunday Riley spf doesn’t have enough ounces and can get pricey but it’s still good. The Drunk elephant one has more ounces and is cheaper. I love it too
Does the Octinoxate ingredient that's present cause any health issues ? I've seen people say they stay away from products with that ingredient. I really want to get my hands on a good sunblock and was highly considering this one .
I also love this sunscreen! My only issue is that I wish they made a larger sized bottle of it!! I run out pretty quickly after reapplying multiple times a day lol
I have cystic acne and really like the Paula's Choice youth-extending daily hydrating fluid spf 50! The Kinship self reflect probiotic moisturizing sunscreen spf 32 (it does have a weird cast for like every skin tone but it goes away)
I absolute love the Paula’s choice one, great for oily skin and super lightweight

Where do you order from? Do they ship to Canada?
It’s my FAVE
We LOVE the Zitsticka Megashade 😍 between that and the Elta MD UV Clear, I've found my fave sunscreens that I always remember to reapply ❤️❤️❤️
You need to try Bybi Beauty Day Defense SPF30 cream. It's really nice, non greasy and nice finish.
omfg. Thank you so much. I have acne-prone skin and wow no one ever talks about how sunscreen breaks a lot of people out.
I’m glad I’ve just found this video from you Cassandra as I’ve shelled out for the colorescience products both sunforgettable and the powder for my Disney trip soon. I’m a pale british rose who’s face hates the sun and I don’t want to burn
Yes, please! It looks fantastic-I'd love to try it out! 😍🎁
so i just finished the unseen supergoop and i loved it! i just started with the dr. sam’s flawless sunscreen and was so excited to use it, but i hate it lol. i feels so heavy on my face. i was looking at the one from zitsticka though because i love their products. so i think that’s what we’re moving into next!

It's not good for us pale peeps, it turns me orange. I wish they had other shades
I LOVE that one too, but can not for the life of me find the light shade. It's out everywhere I look.
It’s a bit too dark and drying for me🥺
@@parisinthe30sx Same here. I love it, but it even the light shade turns me orange too :(
Hi! I've tried tinted spf as well but it was really uncomfortable to stain my clothes near the neck area. Do you know how to avoid this?
you mentioned Eltamd being cruelty free and when i looked on the internet all websites were saying they weren’t cruelty free and there was even an article on their success in china
Same here 😓
It'd be great if you could cover suncream for eczema prone/sensitive skin :)

Might be the placebo but either way, I'm happy.
i just bought the elta md one a few weeks ago and i’ve been loving it!

But I do have to say I feel frustrated, and I wanted to share my experience.
same! felt sooo oily and horrible upon reapplication
I use zitsticka as a base, and as the day progresses I would reapply with an spf powder (supergoop), or a mist (sun bum) to reduce the heavy feeling it would give
The colorescience flex is definitely my favorite! ✨

Just decided to start wearing sunscreen as a brown-skin Asian and I have acne prone skin. This video is timely☺️
But it’s not fragrance free, could flare acne

Agreed! I believe she has addressed this before, but if this is the first video someone is watching, they may not be aware

What’s the name ?

Although they do call it a mineral sunscreen when there are chemical filters in it…not sure what the marketing team are doing with that one.
My acne prone skin loves Delta MD UV Clear tinted SPF 46.

Hi! Could you make a video trying the Mandelic acid from the The Inkey List for a couple of weeks? I've been trying to diminish my acne scares for a few years using retinols/retinoid from The Ordinary and The Inkey list but it hasn't make any difference. Thank you! Big love 🇵🇹🇵🇹

Hello !! The colore science for me was not good, I sweat a lot and it only got into my eyes and was so horrible .. also the color for me was not a match , it didn’t stay in my face .. no no.. total disaster ( for me at least).
Zistika .. I wanted to love it .. yet again .. the sweat make it go to my eyes.. so bad.. I still use it when is cold and I am not doing exercise.. goes well under make up , but still if I began to sweat.. my eyes burn.
I really would appreciate a water and sweat resistant sunscreen video that helps me find somete to use when I go running.
Also I saw in target a sunscreen name everyday humans and will love to know your opinion.
Thanks for all of your videos , I love them !

Hi, if you can try Pressensa spf 80+ you’ll be impressed
I think i’ve noticed that any sunscreen breaks me out, except the mineral one. But mineral one is so greasy 😢
All sunscreen leave me like a grease mess. I've been trying Cetaphil pro oil control sunscreen and until now it's one of the best I've tried
