One of the nicest flowers to grow in baskets, containers, over the trellises and fences, or as ground cover is Nasturtium. Nasturtium flower is an edible, and it makes a nice, sweet aroma in your garden as well. Some people grow Nasturtium near their crops as a way to catch bugs aways from their crops! Generally, people grow Nasturtium for its amazing flower power and beautiful leaves.
Growing Nasturtium is easy, once you know where to grow them. For open grounds, place the seeds in a sunny spot, but be aware of excessive summer heat areas. For trellises, baskets, and other creeping plant projects, use the tall or creeping/trailing types of the variety. Some varieties seeds come in both the dwarf and the tall of creeping. Just make sure you plan for adequate watering and protection from too much heat. In this video, I show you some of the varieties of Nasturtium and their names.
