Do you want to know about possible errors in your document? Under First 14 Days; bullet 3; you have used pneumonia in your parenthesis - you might have meant ammonia. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am in Arizona, and have no frost date; but got dual meat/layer chicks May 8th. The day after I put them out in the coop we hit a heat index of 120F (no electricity out there) and the run wasn't completed (it is now). My freezers are now full of frozen water bottles that I set out in the morning and around noon (chicken fridges), along with frozen greens, fruit, starches, carrots, to help cool down their little brains. I wish I had grass to pasture them but my 2 acres is brown, dry and hot. I have been growing fodder and cover crop seed in trays in the house and they get one every morning. Anyway - in Arizona, I have learned that meat birds fare better growing up in the cool, green seasons (fall through spring). The heat is deadly on a heavy bird. I hope the eggs are delicious, because they are costly. Be well, I pray you heal quickly and fully. Love watching your family. I also love seeing all that green, lush plant life and flowing water.

Hi from India... Love what you do sir. The true essence of self efficiency is the need of the hour. As pollution, pandemic is up this lifestyle can be the answer for the unhealthy, greedy, and expensive life style.
Your humble homested vlogs have shown me that how happy and healthy lifestyle should be. And on other hand we fight for branded products, iPhone, and many other luxury.
Also even the RUclips demonetisation is taking place but Don't forget your video are makeing change in many life's :) plz keep going.
    I have some request video.
What is homestead means, what are the perk's, tax exemption, how do you school ur kids, how has your prospective changed ..
    Once more thanks alot

Justin. If you want to accelerate your pasture grass growth, especially on the areas where your pigs have just come off. When you spread your seed mix it 50-50 with you chick starter. It is one of the best seed starter fertilizer you can find. And very inexpensive keeping everything organic.

I have a question: if Cornish X's mature so quickly how are they bred? How does the hatchery keep them alive long enough to lay? I'm thinking about long term self sufficiency with chicks. Could I take a Cornish X and breed with another fast maturing breed and come up with something similar?

Well, if you like Rabbit then it's wonderful. They can gather more from the land than chickens. But they are very lean and it all tastes like dark chicken meat. We don't like it that much, but you may.

I would suggest you place some stainless steel as a liner as it will reduce the fire danger and prevent the cancelation of your house insurance. It also prevents insect infestation and mold that will move throughout the house and infection in the chickens. I would only do twenty inches on the floor with a two-inch border on the floor.

Justin I recently bought 6 hens from a friend. These girls are already laying and about 2 years old. I plan to get chicks to add to this flock soon. My question is how much to feed them? My friend had 50 hens, she fed twice a day, and they free range on 10 acres. I can’t free range, so they are in a coop with a run. The run is 12x6.5. I have been feeding twice a day (Approximately 1.5 cups of crumbles) and giving table scrapes most every afternoon also mealworms. They are laying great. This schedule was suggested by the friend and I just want to another opinion. Thanks for advice you give.
