Interesting review. Specs are good on the P7, this gets better! I use my P7 to read news and to phone. Looks good, feels good, keeps up 2 days. What lies underneath normal specs is the user-friendliness. Any smartphone can have better specs, but only a few get the package right in my eyes. If you want something that looks elegant such as Iphone, but don"t like the Samsung interface, while cannot afford a Sony Z3, then take a look at Huawei! You could be very suprised in a positive sense! (I would say that in real life the specs of best phone vs good phone mean nothing more than a 20% difference, while the looks, feel, overall package is 80%) Way to go Huwawei!

It seems on par with the S6 with 3.5-4.5 screen on time, and in fact has a bigger battery than the S6, and you guys were favourable with that.It seems like a solid flagship device. It's funny how they seem to have made a good camera whereas HTC have failed year upon year. Who can spell "Huawei?" It's not friendly to the Western market. Imagine typing that in a search engine. They should have branded it better. Other than that it looks pretty darn good

Generally a great phone, I got used to the Emotion UI after a bit. nice and thin in my pocket. The lack of slow-motion in the video functionality is an oversight I think.
Buying this phone tomorrow. I hope the camera supports manual controls via the manual app. I was also thinking of just slapping the google launcher on it for that google experience.

Mate 7 has a larger screen, larger battery and a fingerprint reader. Oh, and the call quality is really good. But, as pointed out by others here, they are not very good with updates. Shame really because otherwise I'd say I'm really quite happy with mine.

So I'm upping my game and going for the P8 which is around $450 atm. That being said I'm a bit annoyed by the fact there's no otg cable support and the UI is not the best, but for the latter I think I'll be able to work my way around it while rooting the phone for some nifty apps, putting on the nova launcher and or use some proper cust-roms if any. So should I go for this phone or do you recommend something else for the price point? Thanks in advance for any constructive input! :)

Mr360AttAck the button you press to show all your apps just like in samsung galaxy devices. You just choose which apps you put on the homescreen. With EMUI however, all apps are on the homescreen and you have to organize them into folders.
According with the information, it is a fast phone... Octa core and 3GB of Ram, it is fast... The GPU is not the most powerful, but for most users that are not playing so often with the phone and are just at social media, emails and messaging apps, it is more that enough...

I really despise this apple induced trend of needlessly thin devices with small batteries, I consider my xperia z3 to be pretty thin and we'll designed, because of that it is able to contain a large battery that gets me over 7 hours of screen on time per charge. Form and function, what a novel concept.
I don't know about other countries but in the US at least, we are brand whores... if most people don't know the brand we won't buy their phones.. sad but true
