Boy Georges story is intertwined with Marylins. Empress, if you want a great read, Boys autobigraphy Take It Like A Man is the best autobiography I have ever read. They had a love hate relationship but they are still friends to this day. Those 2 got up to some crazy shit!
Thank you for reacting my last Patreon request Empress. You bring me so much joy. Marilyn and Boy George were friends since they were about 15 years old and lived together for a while. They have been friends for their entire lives and are still friends today. I think the record companies cashed in on the Boy George sound but Marilyn and George were just very much a sound of their times. This song was huge in Australia. And I love how much you love camp. I can tell you are LGBTQI plus all the way. You are our Empress and we love you
I remember buying this 12 inch single when it first came out, knowing that he was a friend of Boy George...the album cover did not disappoint! The song however wasn't on the same level as Culture Club and the those next level Boy George vocals. On another note...dang...those tracks in the 80's were sooooo clockable. UNBEWEAVEABLE 🤣
I can appreciate your review. Besides Marilyn there was Boy George and Pete Burns( Dead Or Alive) back then. They were all included in the new romantic and androgyny aspect. Many have already said Boy George and Marilyn are friends. Pete Burns and Boy George eventually became friends. Boy George paid for Pete Burn's funeral when he passed. Go check him out too.
The hair, makeup, the vocals, the music def ripped of Boy George. Only thing Marilyn had over him was the body, hence the more revealing clothes. I read his petty self loved flaunting that in George’s face too😆
Marilyn didn't copy BG this is his own identity. He has recorded some great songs, check out "more" and "just be" all on you tube. Marilyn was dressing up and being fabulous from an early age ..... he definately did not jump on any BG wagon
The rivalry was played up - no doubt good for business for both of them. I always thought it was a bit unfair to say he copied Boy George - I think it was more that they both had feminine styles and were both influenced by all that soul music, similar ages so they both grew up in the same era. Did a couple of good pop songs in his own rights, did Maz. But there's no way a man should be that pretty!! 😁
Danced with my aunties to this at our cousins wedding, hearing this takes me back right there great reaction
Marilyn the best!!!🥲🥰🥰🥰🥰

His main background vocalist, Claudia Fontaine, went on to sing with Soul II Soul.
He was Boy George best frenemy lol
You and I have such similar musical tastes. Stevie Nicks! Culture Club! Olivia Newton John! Marilyn! 😀

marilyn and boy george are very good freinds.
and yes, marilyn tried to copy boy george.
Only thing Marilyn had going for himself back in the 80's was his incredible image. But the music , I'm sad to say is MEDIOCRE !!!
😂dang
