The True Cost of Service B for A New Mercedes!

  • Hey everyone! I wanted to make a video on the true cost of Service B for the CLA 45 AMG 2020 and really any other AMG Mercedes just so you guys have an idea of what it is going to cost. It is pretty expensive relative to what the car is, which is a high performance 4 banger. I am actually surprised by how much it was, I do not think it was that much for my C63s AMG Coupe. Not sure if labor costs went up or what.
If you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up and please subscribe to the channel :)

In fairness to the dealership, it sounds like the labor for even a decade of "genuine" service will not cost much more than a nice option package when buying. I don't think they communicate well where the money goes but highly qualified and skilled staff likely check effectively hundreds of important safety issues in the car like tires, suspension, computer logged fault codes etc that a non-genuine place might not have the equipment to check or fix well and may cost much more when faults multiply over time. An independent specialist might be of some use if you insist

The cost for AMG is gonna be stiff. I have a simple C Class and a GLK, and I get all of my service done by AAA for no more cost than would be charged for a Ford, Toyota, etc. You WILL always pay more if you get service at a dealer, regardless of the manufacturer.

The dealership wanted 1K for a Service B on GLS. I completed myself for $321.00. This included oil, filter, cabin filter, break fluid change, and the purchase of a vacuum break bleader. Didn't need new wiper blades as we don't get snow and maybe 10 days of rain a year. I also had the tires rotated and balanced for free as I purchased the road hazard at Discount for $400.00 when I purchased the car. Most people don't know you can do this. It took me about two hours to complete it w/o any help.

When you are driving a relatively expensive (and complicated) car, you should expect higher maintenance fees. I watched a Mercedes clip on exactly what they do on routine services and they check a LOT of stuff all around the car. Could I save a hundred bucks at Joe's auto down the street? Probably. Could I have peace of mind that Joe checked all the important items? Probably not, sorry Joe, I'll pay the premium but expect the premium service at Mercedes.

In the UK you can pay as you go service, negotiate it in the price for 3 years at time of purchase, or lastly buy the care plan on a monthly basis and pick how many years you want it for and pay accordingly..... I had it in with the price of the car ( heavily discounted) but £40 or about 50 bucks in the US will get you 3 years 3 services about £1400 overall when 3 services retail will cost you £1800

When you go AMG can cost more money than a non AMG, now the pre-paid service is a good deal I think, now find a European shop the works on this cars they told me it can be $400 pre-pandemic obviously!!! And he use OEM parts! Remember dealerships have that big overhead!!!But $500+ for service is once a year!!!! Seriously! The Mercedes-Benz get service once a year and if a regular car pays $100 and does 2 the difference is $300 for a premium car, and actually someone going on RUclips and complaining about what he paid on service on his Benz is not good!!! You should be driving a Corolla!!!

lean to do your own maintenance. Oil change is super simple on a Mercedes. you don't even have to jack the car up. All you need is a fluid evacuator. For genuine MB parts, pick up at your local MB dealer or use , if you are in the US, places like AutohausAZ. changing wiper blades is easy as heck. that blade and holder comes as complete piece. all you have to do is re-hook it. Only thing you might want to visit your local MB stealership to do is to check/regrease your sun roof. Having said all that though, if you can afford a $70-80K car, can't really complain about $4-500 service A/B fee.

  • @sponger04

If you lease the vehicle the prepaid maintenance makes a lot of sense. The simple reason why is because Mercedes residuals the maintenance for there customer. Meaning the actual cost isn’t what your paying. Why they do that you might ask… because Mercedes feels there car is going to be worth more if you maintain it at the dealer for the next owner. 👍🏼

Service B also includes cleaning the rain drains in the car. If they did not clean out the rain drains, take it back and tell them to do it because if the drains get clogged, water will find its way into your car and that would be the beginning of your electrical nightmare in any Mercedes. I change my oil every 3,000 miles. And i use 7 quarts of genuine Mercedes Benz 229.5 oil which I get for about $70 from FCP euro. I use PurFlux oil filter which costs about $15---Purflux make oil filters for Mercedes Benz. Some might ask why I do my oil change so frequently since Mercedes says you should do it every 10,000 miles? I have 2 Mercedes Benz, and both get 3,000 mile oil changes. The net effect of driving my Mercedes Benz in a spirited way with constant oil changes, is an obvious and direct improvement in my fuel mileage either in sports mode or sports + mode. I also replace my air filters on both Merc twice a year. I never crank and drive away with my Mercs. I let them sit and idle for at least 10 minutes. But when i start driving, after about 10 minutes of letting the transmission warm up, then, my Merc is awake and ready to be pushed. All Mercedes love frequent oil changes. They love new air filters. They love to be driven in a spirited manner, and by spirited, push the engine to 5,000 - 6,000 rpm from time to time. So, my oil cost about $70, oil filter about $15, and the actual oil change cost me $20 at the shop I use. The total cost of my oil change every 3,000 miles comes to about $105. So, I get about 4 oil changes a year using genuine Mercedes parts. Why anyone would wait for 10,000 miles before an oil change, remains a mystery to me. Based on direct experience, when my car hits 100,000 miles, with frequent oil changes, the internals of my car will be closer to the internals of a 60,000 miles car.
