Thankyou! You have opened a wholw new world to me, I was totally ignorant, and now I have something, a wonderful something, to explore. I am writing a book I hope will one day be Catholic literature.
I loved this interview! If you want to interview more living Catholic authors, I vehemently recommend either Tim Powers (probably most famous for On Stranger Tides or The Anubis Gates), or Eleanor Bourg Nichelson (she’s written a few books, but her debut novel “A Bloody Habit” is about a Dominican friar who is also a vampire hunter 😆, and then the series continues with an Franciscan werewolf and a Jesuit zombie killer). I’ve heard them both speak at Christian conferences and their zeal for the faith as well as their hilarious storytelling skills could make them excellent guests.
Mornin’ Fathers, Brothers, & Sisters! I am realizing that this is going to be like an every day thing? (Get used to seeing this face, fellas!). How exciting for you guys! Congratulations on your success. Eats a muffin 😏…& later a hotdog from 7-11, thinks about going to back-to-back masses, …does…& loves it (shoutout to Fr. Nicholas Hartman!), likes the podcast, while flossing teeth & wearing not-Warby-Parker-glasses (but hearing that makes me miss living in San Francisco!), rambles on, prays, buys flowers for you or olive tree branches, eats something that is kinda like Baklava but better! (😏 😆 Get it?! “It’s not *just* baklava!”) #Eucharist Cheers! / Gaudete! ☕️ ☕️ Note: Add Gaudete Brunch to your list of Advent traditions! No candles. Just coffee. 🤷🏻♀️ Kidding. Lots of candles. Let that light shine. :: Starts a “church” chant to rally up the people, start up a trend :: “Church! Church! Church! Church! Church!…” 🙌 Apologize for being so chatty ;) *Gaudete!*. Have a wonderful day!
Brad Dourif. Y'all are making me think of Brad Dourif. This is the guy who played Hazel Motes in Wise Blood (and subsequently is sampled by Ministry in the legendary song, Jesus Built My Hotrod). He is also Grima Wormtongue in LOTR. Also, he plays Suder in ST:DS9... I think I'm going to do a deep dive today into Brad Dourif's career... Great episode!! Hey, I thought Fr. P was on his way to Bethlehem? .... Pennsylvania IS lovely this time of year... 😁🤭🙏💙❣️
I am listening to something here that upsets me: people who can see to read, and have no idea how this impacts people who cannot see to read being legally or completely blind. When one asks for a large print (greater than 18 piint font) item, we are told that's too much expense (as with Word on Fire). Reminds me of California elitists: if you can't do what we can do, to hell with you. That's what I get from Word on Fire. That's what I'm getting from this podcast. I have a Bible I can read with magnification. I have engineering degrees, and 37 years of engineering experience with several natilnal program achievement awards from different federal agencies and several private international companies. I raised a family, and have lost 2 wives to radiation caused cancer. I work with with memory care folks, 15 of 34 are Catholics. The diocese says they don't have the resources for that, and all efforts are toward youth, whose parents they did a poor job with educating. Thanks for the effort.
I can see to read, but my attention span is crap. I tend to listen to audio books. Obviously, not every book they mention here is going to be available in that format, but many of them (and many others) are. It's a great option for people with limited visability.
@DoctorDanielle not the same. And what format? I am of the "pick up the phone" generation (as labeled by fellow engineers). I can remember and repeat very well. Thanks, I've been that route.

Thank you Fathers and Katy for the wonderful discussion.
I'm so excited about the Luminor project!

🎶O little town of Bethlehem
(The one Billy Joel sings about)
Well nothing rhymes with Bethlehem
So "Allentown" came out 🎵
Lumenor... It's like Numenor, coming back, stronger
