I love Luce, great way to introduce the faith and talk about the Jubilee with children. God bless all those working in various ways to evangelize. God is at work in everything through the Holy Spirit.
Luce has pulled off some crazy stuff that you really cant see unless you are into anime culture there are very popular streamers just talking about the Catholic church on stream now, and in a positive way Sure Luce isnt going to make anyone Catholic of her own accord but trust me it is putting cracks in the walls people have built up Also keep in mind that Luce is really for Japan, there is a big festival in Osaka that the Church will be at in conjunction with the Jubilee, I cant personally speak too much to the Japan side but my friends over there have been reporting similar to what i have seen im hoping to make it to nashville, so maybe could discuss more 👀
I'm a big believer in goofing off and having fun. Life is too short to take things super seriously. Though at the same time, the fact Luce comes from the Vatican itself makes it feel like the Church is trying to a sort of 'forced-fun' thing here. Makes it come off as a bit weirder than intended. I guess I'm just middle-of-the-road on the question of Luce. Is the feeling around the DHS something similar?
I was hesitant about Luce before I learned that Jubilees are about as serious as you want to make them, and they're a made-up practice anyway. Go Luce!
My kids and a lot of gen Alpha I know are into anime and well versed on 90’s cartoons. Luce is meant for them- not that we aren’t enjoying her. I also think she represents JOY. Which is what everyone is hungry for. Actual joy. My old fashioned uncles liked her despite not understanding her. It’s best we can’t wrap our heads around her after having ideas and thoughts constantly shoved down our throats. Ads,ticktock style clips, political campaigns, we are constantly being told what to think about. The fact that she is abstract and kind of ambiguous gives us room and freedom for our own thoughts and impressions…and Memes. 😉

Luce is cause of loosing my generation to the Church.( we are still in almost empty Churches) Luce is trivialization of our religion, lost of beauty and quality not mention of mystery and so on. This young people who perhaps return to Church " because Church is on stream now", return to what church? Do not look like thru Catholic Church .

I'm am Gen X. My anime and manga appreciation goes way back. My kids enjoy my Mangas too. I don't like Luce. I don't like that s/he is created by a gay. I have Millennial friends that do like her. It's not what I want to represent my spiritual
... life and sacred tradition. There is nothing sacred about it. Though I can hear an old friend quote Madeline Engle "there is nothing so secular as the incarnation of Jesus Christ". If it brings people to Christ, than I should be happy about it. It's just not for me. I want to fill my life with Catholic timelessness, not temporary fads.
A girl altar server had part of her hair dyed blue, and was told to remove it or come back when it is gone. Luce was not accepted here. The family went to a different church. Not a great Christmas for the family or the cathedral parish. Not a good symbol.
"NOT a good symbol." Are you referring to the blue hair, or to the church having standards for altar servers?? (Or perhaps that her blue hair was more important to her than reverance at mass?)
Super disappointed in you for this one guys. It’s easy to position yourself as the reasonable moderator who is opposed to “polarization.” I noticed you conveniently avoided talking about the artist who got the commission to make this trash. The whole thing is humiliating and infantilizing - and that’s exactly the point. What the enemies of the church (who are within the church) don’t want are self-respecting Catholics and especially not self-respecting Catholic men.
They talk about the artist at 9:30. Not sure if you missed that or just didn’t think their answer was adequate. Nevertheless, they address it and making comments accusing them “conveniently avoiding” the topic isn’t very respectful of their holy ministries. I agree there are enemies within the church. Knocking down our holy priests doesn’t do anything to solve the problem.
Weren’t there artists that painted religious scenes who were not good Catholics? But chosen because their art was the best? Or architects of cathedrals etc.

Luce looks very superficial and meaningless. Don't see how this would affect people's behavior. But I am old. Never heard of it till this moment.
People are loving it online, it's connecting with the younger generation of Catholics and they're spreading their own memes, art and pics with Luce .
