Welcome to the Top 3 Restaurants in Madeira Guide!
    -
If you follow this channel, you know we’re all about the vibes. Traveling, being fit and active and last but not least: FOOD!
    -
Naturaly, when I travel, one of my favorite activities is to try new foods
Madeira, much like all of Portugal, has an AMAZING cuisine!
    -
We’re going to be judging these restaurants based on a few criteria:
    -Taste
    -Portion Size
    -Price
    -Vibe
And we’re going to measure these categories on a 1-5 scale.
    Let’s get started!
    -
    Number 3:
    A chave
This restaurant is located on the northeaster coast, close to the famous Santana Vilage, and Miradouro do Guindaste.
We discovered it by accident, as we were driving by the area, and VERY hungry.
The restaurant had a calm but homey atmosphere, and a nice terrace.
We sat down with no expectations and ordered some stuff that looked good.
First of all, the prices were VERY fair.
I had a swordfish sandwich in bolo do caco which was only 4 1/2 euros. That is an impressive price for fish! And as you can see, the portion was very, very generous.
Of course, if you’ve watched our previous videos, you know that we always had to eat some bolo do caco.
It cost €3.5, and it was a very, very well served portion as well. The taste and texture were amazing, some of the best we had all trip!
And of course, we had some chips. Chips seemed to be amazing in every restaurant that we went to.
So for under €10 per person, we had one of the best meals on this trip. Completely by happen chance!
For the writing, I would give The food
    4/5 taste
    5/5 size
    5/5 price
    3/5 vibe
The space was nice, but there was nothing special about it. The decorations were pretty plain, it was just a nice open and space.

Moving onto number two on this list!
Taberna do petisco in Santa Cruz
This restaurant was recommended to us by my cousin, who actually lived in Madeira for a year. So she’s a bit of an expert on the island!
This restaurant was pretty full, so we had to wait for a while before being seated. That will already let you know how popular it is!
We like to this restaurant so much, that we ended up going twice on our five day trip.
What’s the first time around, we did not know to expect, as it was our first night in Madeira as well!
So we actually ended up ordering too much food. So much so that I ended up taking almost all of one of the dishes, home, to eat for breakfast on another day!
We ordered a nice place of swordfish picado, which is grilled swordfish, and it comes with chips, fried corn, and lemon. We thought it was was a single portion… Turns out this could easily feed two people, for €20.
As we weren’t sure how much food this would be, I also ordered an octopus a sandwich in bolo do caco, and some grilled limpets.
That was EASILY too much food.
I would’ve been fine with the octopus sandwich, and the limpets. But no… We had to be greedy and order a huge amount of food.
Safe to say that I was completely rolling about after this!
The swordfish was really, really good, as well as the chips. Very well done, full of flavor. The fried corn I wasn’t a big fan of, it’s crunchy on the outside, but then very soft on the inside… I don’t know, it was a bit weird. Not bad, just weird.
No, the octopus sandwich was definitely the highlight for me! The octopus was cooked with onion, and it was extremely soft and tasty. The bolo do caco in itself is also amazing! I thought it would be a small sandwich, but it ended up being an absolute monster. And only five euros… My mind was blown.
    So let’s give the rating:
    Taste:4.5/5
    Portions size:5/5
    Price: 5/5
    Vibe: 4/5
The vibe of the restaurant was actually very cool, it was a very traditionally decorated place, with lots of barrels, traditional tiles… It’s exactly what you want for a typical Portuguese food restaurant. Obviously, it wasn’t fancy or anything, but that’s not what we were looking for either!
Finally, the last item on this list, and also our favorite restaurant of the trip:
    Adega da Quinta
This restaurant was a very nice surprise. We were supposed to go to this other restaurant called. O viola, which was also recommended by my cousin. However, when we were supposed to go, it was absolutely full.
We had been told that in this area, there were a few restaurants did the dish that we were looking for very well, so I just went on Google, and found this one which was five minutes away from O Viola.
As soon as we arrived, we were up very impressed with the vibe of the place. Actually, all of my friends thought that it was going to be extremely expensive, because it really looks like a venue where weddings are hosted, a very pretty farm.
