Emotions take over since the first second with so strenght and Passion to including some intimal moments. Pure Poesy. LOVE It 😍 come on Blanca. 💃🇪🇦 Huge all sense.
Many spaniards, as I am, are proud of our entry this year. Of course, there are people who dislike this song. But among the ones who love Blanca and her song, we see art and poetry on stage during 3 minutes! Thanks very much for your lovely words! Love from Spain! 🍀
As a Spaniard I feel so moved by your lovely reaction. It's so nice and touching to see that this performance makes you feel like crying without even understanding the lyrics. I am so proud that we are sending the soul of Spain this year to Eurovision.
I must say I had the same reaction. Everything about this entry is amazing, the vocal is perfection, the colours, the dance moves, the imagery... it's all absolutely fantastic. My jaw literally dropped when I saw this for the first time. It's stunning. Spain can be so proud of her.
Well, the content of the message is tremendous, I think it's a bulería, a branch of flamenco and fused... but it is a mother who sings a typical lullaby from the south of Spain to put her little baby to sleep and asks her that when she leaves, maybe she is dying, please bury her in the moon to see her baby's face every night . nights, except the nights of the new moon and that her tears will be like the Nile river... wow it's beastly, Spanish is not the language I understand the most and I will listen to it again to understand better but the message is heartbreaking, I'm very😲 😳 and surprised...

You’re the only reactor in RUclips that has a valuable input on music. So happy you love this because the other Eurovision people online were so rude and ignorant on this masterpiece.
It’s not being ignorant but to many this sounds absolutely awful. This is divisive as people will either love it or hate it but that is what you need. Middle of the road songs don’t gather any points.
This is the Winner of Eurovision 2023 for me! 🎤♥️💃🤗 Ireland sends 12 Million point to Blanca Paloma ☘️ I had an emotional reaction the first time i saw this a few months ago too. Pure art right from the heart ❤🎉
This was my exact reaction. I have been listening to this everyday since it came out and the more I hear it I cry harder. It is so moving. You must listen to the studio version that was recently released - The aesthetics and vocals was was just out of this world. Knowing that she can sing this live I am excited to see this at the final ❤️
Indeed, EaEa is a lullaby. A lullaby which is song from the bottom of the heart. A pray of a grand mother full of love to the baby. Despite the barrier of the language (the sensitive, magnificent listener here cannot follow Spanish), she is feeling the full message of the singer wishing that God grants her the joy of looking at the kid EVERYday of her life. This is very moving for sensitive souls like that of our beautiful listener reacting to Blanca Paloma's song. The message is further moving by the lirics of this Spanish song (which I strongly recommend to get a good translation from) utilising beautiful "images" like that of the grandma desiring to be burried in the Moon, when she dies, which would allow her to continue seeing the baby, grown as adult, every night, for the rest of her days, even when she would be absent on Earth. Blanca is perfectly transmitting this deep feeling of love in the way she sings and performs. No need to understand Spanish for that. It is moving from the message, in The UK, Spain, Japan or Uganda. This feeling is universally understandable. Bravo Blanca. Bravo to this sensitive, emotional reaction, full of truth.
Thank you very much for your genuine reaction. I was looking forward to watch it. I almost cried with you. I' m very proud of Blanca Paloma. I saw your video talking about all you have been through and I sincerely hope that this Eurovision season is being of great help to you. You have a very beautiful light
I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction, thank you. Your musical expertise, specialist lexicon and pleasant diction really make all the difference, offering viewers like us some really valuable insight. I also adore this song, voice and performance. I hope it will strike a chord with audiences and won't be written off as "too high brow" at Eurovision. I'm praying it gets a good spot in the running order. Around position 18 or so.
It has an insistent beat and it has an old-fashioned quality to it while at the same time sounds contemporary at the same time. Flamenco feeling to it. I wasn't crazy about last year's Spanish entry; this one I enjoy much much more! I give this an 8.5.
@ThePeaceAround This is a comment I read on another reaction to Palomas'song. It sums it all up pretty well and I´m sure it will help understanding/explaning what you just saw: The song itself (music, singing, clapping) is a bulería, kind of a specific 'subgenere' of flamenco with a modern twist of an electronic beat. The topic and the lyrics come from the POV of a woman singing a lullaby, trying to put her crying baby to sleep ('Eaea' is a cooing sound in Spain) The performance and staging are the ones of a ritual, summoning her ancestors. Specially her late grandma, wich this song is inspired by and dedicated to, because she taught and used to sing flamenco and lullabies to her. The repetitive pattern of the beat, backing vocals and rythmic clapping are intended to be entrancing and hypnotizing for connecting with the energy of the experience. Her hand movements work as a praise and a calling to the above. The red threads are a reference to the fringes of a traditional 'mantón' (shawl) simbolizing protection, motherhood, in fact she said it could be seen sort of womb-shaped. Actually she worked as a costume and stage set designer, as she did here too. The white circle represents the moon, where, as the lyrics say, she wants to be buried in when she dies, so she will be able to watch over her child everynight but one ('newmoon') First she kneels looking up, later she kneels again looking downwards, always with a reaching hand. Then she shoots a flaming arrow and lights it on fire (red pulsing light, heartbeat, blood, death) Finally the priestess gets on the shrine to end the ritual in ecstasy.
Hi Rachel, once more great reaction and review. There are just 8 songs out and it will be very hard for any of the remaining 29 to overcome this from my #1...beijinhos from Portugal
I 100% live for your reactions every year for all these songs. :) I love the enthusiasm and artistic passion you have for this competition. My friend group looks at me like I am crazy for loving this as much as I do, but seeing reactors like you or Maxxy Rainbow or the guys at ESC United - you all make it worthwhile. :)
I exactly felt like you when I Listen to this song when being performed. The fusion between flamenco and electronic music, the strength of Blanca Paloma and all women that are all around her is stunning. And the voice… what can I tell, OMG!! 10/10 Thanks a lot for your sincere reaction! 😍
What. An. Entry. As I mentioned in your reaction to Benidorm Fest, this is such a brilliantly-written song, without a doubt Spain's best in recent years from a purely musical point of view. As you rightly say, the electronics blend perfectly with the traditional flamenco sound as well, and it's not something you hear often in Eurovision. The performance is also something else, felt like a modern art installation. ¡Mucha suerte España!
Your comments really show your musical knowledge (and i am not saying this just because you like our song): flamenco and specially bulerías is a kind of music usually born from improvisation: a group of people just clapping their hands and the singer used to make Up the lyrics while singing.
Many people already said this, but this staging is Eurovision ready too. There is the smallest fear in the back of my head this may share Fulenn's fate of not being... idk, accepted isn't the right word but it's closest to what I'm trying to say. But in comparison to Fulenn, most aspects are better, the vocals, the staging, the melody, so I expect Spain to get another top 5 finish.
I think worst case scenario, with the performance remaining like this - is midtable by way of high jury and low televote. Like the lower limit is gonna be like 12th-15th imo
Fulen failed in two fundamental aspects: 1, camera angles (was a mess) & 2, no big vocal moments to win jury points. Camera angles of this will gain some televote points, and astonishing vocals will gain a top-3 jury, so top10 guaranteed for me.
Spain is easily my number one this year (ok we've only had 15 songs), but it won't leave my top 3 that is for sure. A very moving performance of a song that does not follow the traditional patterns. This is what we need at Eurovision, ethnic sounds and rhythms performed to perfection - 10/10
Your reaction says it all, the performance and song are a moving combo whether you speak the language or not, the song is a lullaby, like she's a loving mother but also a warrior, like her motherly love is what gives her strength and that's something every good mother can relate to, it's universal like the emotion she puts in it and that you connected to, i hope this is received by everyone out there the same way.
Es increíble como sin entender un idioma (deduzco) la música puede llegar a emocionar así. Eso es música, es emoción es lo que se trasmite al cantar con corazón también. Un saludo y gracias por tu reacción, ha sido emocionante. Tienes nueva subscriptora. Saludos 🙂
Well my Spanish is not one of the 5 languages that I understand and speak the most, but I think that if I have understood it correctly the content of the message is tremendous, I think it is a bulería or fandango, some flamenco and fused palo... I understand: she is a mother who sings a typical lullaby from the south of Spain to put her little girl to sleep and asks her to bury her in the moon when she leaves (is she dying?) so that she can see her little face every night baby, except the nights of the new moon and that her tears will be like the Nile river... wow it's beastly, Spanish is not the language I understand the most and I will listen to it again to understand better but the message is heartbreaking, I'm very 😨 😦😲 😳 and surprised...
Being educated or having culture is not a matter of academic titles, nor of acquired knowledge, but of attitude, sensitivity and open-mindedness, as you have shown in this reaction. They may not appreciate it on the televote, but this is pure poetry by Machado, and the staging, like a play by Lorca (Spain's most universal poet).
You got this one 100% right! Eaea was my #2 song of Eurovision 2023 (My Sister's Crown from the Czech Republic was my #1). Public voters should be ashamed of themselves for ranking Blanca Paloma last in the Televote. If anyone requires further evidence that the jury vote is not only required but crucial, look no further than what the Televote did to Eaea compared to what it did to Cha Cha Cha.
This is so so so incredible. It’s transcendent. So beautiful and so arresting. I had no choice in my reaction, I just sat there with my mouth open. Captivating is an understatement. Loooove your opinions + so appreciate your deep understanding of music and how much that enhances the quality of your videos and really adds weight to your thoughts + analysis of a song, as a musician myself it’s just always interesting to hear.
Thank you very much for this emotional reaction 🥺💕 Some represent a musical style and a staging never seen before at ESC and backed by the popular folklore of a country, Spain is the only country in the world that could represent an electronic flamenco show at ESC. Spanish flamenco intangible cultural heritage of humanity UNESCO. Others represent generic songs with no sentiment or culture behind it. That is the big difference. Where some listen and see art, others only hear noises✌🏼🕊️💕
It's a song I didn't think I'd like as much as I do. It really should be up there in the results in May - not many will have as good a voice as Blanca. Plus, it's totally different from 'Slo Mo'. I liked that song but am pleased we are now getting a different side to Spain.
Thank you from Spain. Yes, a true storm of feelings, even more if you knew she sings: "when I die I wan to be buried in the Moon so that I could see you everynight, my son, except one" (the new Moon phase). Very poetic that lullaby.
I am from Spain, and clearly when I hear this the tears flow because it touches the depths of my soul....I thought you must be from our culture to feel this way about these sounds; I am amazed that this English woman here feels similarly, also I have read comments from people all over the world that has reached similarly; we humans are all brothers and sisters and connected in the soul.

I was waiting for this reaction. I caught the end of Norway's Melodi Grand Prix the other night, and I saw the winning song. It was my favourite 2023 song for about a day, and then THIS dropped. I just hope the European public don't find this too challenging to listen to or like. Hopefully she can pull a Konstrakta and surprise everyone with another piece of art. It feels to me as if Spain are entering a new Eurovision era, where they're coming to win. Would you agree? I mean, it seems forever since "Do It For Your Lover" ... 🙂 Someone's going to have to come up with something good tonight (Super Saturday, 11th of February) to beat this in my mind.
Spaniards' folk music use mixolydian scale, with ninth and thirteen flat, which makes it sounds in that 'arabian way' foreigners feel. 'Ea ea' is the tender sound that all mothers in Spain do to their childs when cradling them in their arms to make them sleep. So basically this song is a lullaby.
Rhythmically the most complicated song that was ever performed on a Eurovision stage. I´m musician and am lost most of the time. 6/4 in the chorus... but the rest? I´m lost. but I like it! not fallen in love, but that could happen until may!
The time signature is a Tempo di Bulería. A bulería is one of the many types of flamenco songs (there are flamenco seguidillas, tanguillos, zambras, colombianas, sevillanas, rumba flamenca.... and bulería, among others).
The white circle represents the moon, where, as the lyrics say, she wants to be buried in when she dies, so she will be able to watch over her child everynight but one ('newmoon')
First she kneels looking up, later she kneels again looking downwards, always with a reaching hand.
Then she shoots a flaming arrow and lights it on fire (red pulsing light, heartbeat, blood, death) Finally the priestess gets on the shrine to end the ritual in ecstasy.
Beautiful, this will connect to anyone with an open heart x
Thanks a lot for your sincere reaction! 😍
What. An.
Honestly I think it's worse the Fulenn. I can get the skill of the artist, but the song is boring, I can't relate to it in any way.
Fulen failed in two fundamental aspects: 1, camera angles (was a mess) & 2, no big vocal moments to win jury points. Camera angles of this will gain some televote points, and astonishing vocals will gain a top-3 jury, so top10 guaranteed for me.
In my opinion this has a spot in the Top 10 for sure, top 5 will depend on the rest of the songs and whether they are able to enhance this performance
@@estitxu14 Ya, claro....
Thank you! 😊
I join in with every word you say here.
amo tu reacción!!! love you can appreciate it even if you dont understand the lyrics. You are amazing, greetings from madriiiiid
Thank you very much for this emotional reaction 🥺💕
Some represent a musical style and a staging never seen before at ESC and backed by the popular folklore of a country, Spain is the only country in the world that could represent an electronic flamenco show at ESC.
Thank you for being so sensitive and moving. Blanca Paloma moved us and you moved me as well, it’s such a beautiful reaction 🫶
Que bonito que te produzca esos sentimientos! 🥰
en España estamos enamorados de Blanca Paloma
I was waiting for your reaction for days! 🤭 Glad you liked it so much. Greetings from Spain.
Spain 🇪🇦 2024
Spain has the arguably richest folklore in Europe little wonder Hispanica music is among the richest in the world.
Thank you from Spain. Yes, a true storm of feelings, even more if you knew she sings: "when I die I wan to be buried in the Moon so that I could see you everynight, my son, except one" (the new Moon phase). Very poetic that lullaby.
I totally am with you!!!!
Recuerden que este año 2023 por primera vez el resto del mundo podrán votar en Eurovisión vía online esperamos esos votos de nuestros hermanos latinos España 12 puntos ❤️
Èste año se encoronarà a España, ponle la firma! Ya es hora!
enseriooooooo. Pero donde?
Los Latinos?? A España??
I was waiting for this reaction. I caught the end of Norway's Melodi Grand Prix the other night, and I saw the winning song. It was my favourite 2023 song for about a day, and then THIS dropped. I just hope the European public don't find this too challenging to listen to or like. Hopefully she can pull a Konstrakta and surprise everyone with another piece of art.
It feels to me as if Spain are entering a new Eurovision era, where they're coming to win. Would you agree? I mean, it seems forever since "Do It For Your Lover" ... 🙂
Someone's going to have to come up with something good tonight (Super Saturday, 11th of February) to beat this in my mind.
wonderful, amazing......perfect
Eaea ❤️
from Spain...thanks
❤️
Spaniards' folk music use mixolydian scale, with ninth and thirteen flat, which makes it sounds in that 'arabian way' foreigners feel.
'Ea ea' is the tender sound that all mothers in Spain do to their childs when cradling them in their arms to make them sleep. So basically this song is a lullaby.
I love your reactions because they are very qualified (a lot of musical knowledge behind) and very emotional but in a very honest way.
A masterpiece ❤️🔥
Wow wow wowwwww 👏👏👏👏👏👏🇮🇹
This is a MASTERPIECE!!!!!
I love you reaction😍🥹 thank you from Spain🇪🇸
It's so magical ✨ 😭 I cried too
Thank you so much. The song is amazing and she is absolutely fantastic, and this fussion between flamenco, buleria and also pop is what represent us, no like always the typical pop song. Music should make us feel despite we do not understand the lyrics, and Blanca does it. Gracias
