She has power and resonance for days and her vibrato is pure perfection. Ariana has a more child like tone to her voice and ease of mixing and belting is extraordinary. Her voice is piercing and she has very healthy technique too, ao she makes it look so easy. They both complement eachothwr super well and both could sing whatever. I personally like Kelly more, but that is due to preference and not talent.
Agreed. It's kinda like the difference in texture between Whitney and Mariah - one wields tons of enchanting power and the other is beautifully light and agile. Both are beautiful tho.

Both are Legendary singers. Kellys voice is so powerful, strong and heavy while Ariana’s is light, soft and higher. I prefer Kelly’s tone though, Ariana kinda sounds muted even when she sings high notes!
Is it just me, but Ariana seems way more confident when she sings with kelly. Her belts are a lot more rich and well rounded with kelly. She just seems more relaxed like Kelly is encouraging her to just let it all out, dont worry about anything else. Kelly also does a good job in matching the tone of her duet partners. They are both wonderful singers.
The kelly clips are shorter with less volume -- also they are mostly her talk show versus Ariana which was mostly concert clips with reverb. In other words, the comparison is slightly weird when one source is kind of more heightened.

I mean, Kelly consistently resonates on those notes, whereas Ariana doesn’t even consistently support them. Ariana only supported A4-C5 in this video. Upper belts F5-G#5 easily go to Kelly again. Kelly is inconsistently supporting and resonating here, and Ariana is straining with all sorts of tension and a high larynx. Super high upper belts A5-B5 narrowly go to Kelly. Kelly’s placement is better, but her mix starts to suffer here. Ariana’s mix is better, but everything else is worse lol. Kelly destroys Ariana in head voice up to C6, but after that Ariana takes over.

Sorry but a lot of what you said is untrue. Clearly you are biased towards Kelly. Ariana does not "strain with all sorts of tension" on higher notes. And a high larynx is not always bad if placement is proper (which it is for both Kelly and Ariana). In that case you can even say Kelly's larynx is raised because you can tell that it is very much raised above E5. Ariana's first Eb5 was PROPERLY RINGING and RESONANT and so was her second C#5. And her second Eb5 was REALLY well-supported. Plus, Kelly was very clearly straining on G#5. She gets really raspy above G5 (and it's obviously not intentional). Ariana's first and last G#5s, on the other hand, were some of the most free, relaxed high notes she has ever sung. And as for low notes, Ariana is just as good as Kelly, if not better. She has some really solid F3s and F#3s as well and even her more recent E3s are far better than Kelly's.

Kelly Clarkson at 20 would've given Ariana a true run for her money on those very high belts. Even as is, the fact that she's 42 years old, two pregnancies down, two decades into a career singing very demanding material, and is still able to follow Ariana so far up the scale is impressive. Through even G5 she's still competent and capable.
