Good video, I especially appreciate your philosophy toward why to make games or other creative works. Walking the line between being painfully aware of the problems in the world and continuing to try to elevate other people's spirits is difficult but worthwhile.
Some great Q&A, and definitely interested in more of this idea. "Too many opportunities" is definitely a problem today. Where to say yes vs no, and where to put our focus and attention. Well said.
Great video! I am starting to research the board game creators community since I am currently working on my first board game design, it is a dungeon crawler with a very impactful story and I would love to get some insight from people who might know more about these matters. I have the basic rules and still have a lot of play testing ahead, but my greatest concert at the moment is that I am not sure how polished the story should be in order to show the game to a publisher. I have the general plots, since the game is a "chose your adventure" type, with different endings, and I dont know if I have to do most or all the writing or if the publisher can help me with some of the writing, as I am not a professional writter. Any advice is appreciated! and thanks for all the content you have here! your channel is really insightful for people like me.
When listing all the pains of running a self publishing company, you forgot my biggest pain: "Listening to advertising and marketing professionals tell you why you should give them money, knowing that half of them are completely useless, but having no idea which half." I absolutely refuse to manage an advertising budget ever again. That's a casino I don't want to enter.

It's like that old starfish story!

At this point, being able to say "no" has become a super power, haha
Enjoyed this one a lot. Would like to see more in this format :)
Thanks so much for this! Every time I watch BGDL video I get some nuggets of wisdom, and I thought this one was particularly helpful.
