I’m a big Cars fan and Easton always played for the song…just enough flash to catch your ear. on a side note, I saw The Cars on their Panorama tour and they were absolutely amazing…not much of a show per say, but they sounded better live than the records…definitely one of my top 5 favorite concerts…nobody believes me when I tell them that😎
The Cars, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, the Ramones, Bruce Springsteen, and J. Geils were my favorite bands from the late 70’ies through the 80’ies. I think the held their own with the great bands from the 60’ies. I always liked them and I did buy their albums.
Great cars tune. I'd love to see play something off of Tooth & Nail. George Lynch, did some amazing stuff on that album. But if you don't like Dokken just forget this comment.
I always thought The Cars crafted songs similar to The Beatles. Short tunes with a small solo so you want to replay it. The band was quirky because the guys in the band were quirky.

Very interesting comment regarding the live performance.
Awesome lesson!
Elliot would approve ✌️
Easton is a very under rated guitarist ... catchy melodic solos in most of his work. Good job showing his work man ...
Great stuff! Agreed, Elliot Easton is an amazing soloist
I found your breakdown the best most direct easiest to follow out of all of them. Thank you Kelly
I never realized what a little gem of a solo this was. But now that you've put spotlight on it...
Excellent solo lesson. No denying Elliot’s talent.
Excellent! Thank you once again KDA. 👌🏻🌌🌅🌠
Awesome KDA.🔥
This is a great song with a killer solo
It was just what I needed, thanks KDA!
Hey, I have that very same guitar! I love my Godin. And I love this solo. Great video!!
always great solos - one of my fav bands when i was about 13
Quirky - great way to describe Car’s music but some memorable songs

Amen!!!
Shake it up solo is an all-timer, that one will give you a good challenge :)
Man, I've been playing this wrong for thirty years!! Ha ha! Thanks. I think!

For someone who doesn’t care for the Cars, you sure capture Elliot well. Are you more of a Careless Whispers kind of guy?
One solo I could never get to sound right is Mystery Dance by Elvis Costello. Just in case you feel like shining some light on it.🙃
