    I subscribe to several modelers and there are two types: those who build models that look good from 3 feet away, and that's what they're satisfied with. You, however, build models that look incredible no matter how close I get to them. That's an incredible skill.

    This is fantastic. The rigging (to me, the part the makes you or breaks you) is so detailed and beautiful. Every detail in this construction is what many hope to achieve. Honing the skills and patience is paramount. To have a ship on display, of this quality, would make anyone who built it proud. I've had a few ship builds that I simply had to walk away from because of frustration. Watching your videos has given inspiration and are very helpful. Thank you!

    Hi Olha.
    Congratulations, this is a fantastic build. About 3 years ago I also started building the HMS Victory at 1/78 scale from Mantua (the one with the brass plates) but soon I had to put it aside because between family, day job and RUclips I dont have the time to continue building it. I am really impressed by the ropes you have used for the rigging. They look fantastic and of very good quality. Were they included in the kit , did you buy them from somewhere or did you make them yourself?
    Thanks.

    Olha, WOW! What a masterful job on such a complex model. I'm in awe of your talent. That rigging is mindbogglingly so well done. There are times when you can go cross-eyed working it. The standing and running rigging were so accurate. The tautness was amazing, yet it evenly balanced. I see you had your QA cat offering his/her opinions on your workmanship. We had one of those, too. We miss him dearly. Was this a commissioned job, or one for your private pleasure?

      If I had a $5 for every "Victory at Trafalgar" model out there, I would be a rich man. I never much liked her and definitely not as outfitted in the repair of 1802-03. Her older, open galleries version is far more beautiful and far more deserves modeling. But... each to his own. To me - give me a 17th century ship anytime.

      @@OlhaBatchvarov So far, all your models are excellent, but I can't say that for hms victory, so I think you're in a hurry, we have high hopes for you, this may be a success for casual modelers, but I know your previous models, so I don't like it

    How much are one of these worth? 37 inches long lets say.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 месяца назад

      It depends on many factors! KIT, scratch or kitbashing. What materials (boxwood, pear, ebony or cheap basswood). How detailed is the model according to the scale and historically accurate?
      Count it backwards! For what salary are you willing to build it, if it was the only profit!? Then divide by 10 because no one will pay you the real price!

    Is the HMS VICTORY (1805) by ALAN McGOWAN good enough to build her frame by frame my next challenge after my Swan class is done. Would be nice to have every frame detailed out.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Год назад

      If I remember correctly in the book there are lines from every second frame. That is, you will have to redraw the rest from the waterlines and sherr plan.
      I have this book in my video library - issue #027...

      @@OlhaBatchvarov Thanks I ordered it and a few others from your videos. If you ever build a Swan class Sloop Sea Watch Books has the complete set of books available for her I just wish admiraltymodels and Crown Timberyard didn't drop out in providing materials getting the Costello Boxwood.

  • @bobvines00

    Olha, this model is amazing! The rigging (i.e., cordage [I had to look this up!]) alone must have taken longer to research, create, and install (rig) than building the ship 'structure" itself! After watching your close-ups of the cordage/rigging as it was installed, I think I finally understood why any opposing ships would shoot chain and/or spider shot at the rigging -- they couldn't hardly miss, I think.
    Would you consider making a "tutorial" video of researching, designing, and making your rope/lines the next time you use your ropewalk? I see so many _different_ "weaves" (I'm sure that's the wrong word) in your cordage and the extreme details in each different type that I'm simply awed! ;)

    Wow! Your model is incredible, but the video of the build is also next-level. I built a much less intricate model of the Endevour a few years ago, and am in awe of your skill. Having spent hours on the rigging of a much simpler build, I can appreciate (to some extent) the skill needed to pull off such a magnificent model. Thank you for having the foresight to document your build with such detailed photos
