Those other three heroes are a joke. The tank is the lynchpin of a party. Then the healer. These two facilitate the party to do its job. Dps is whoever is left.

By taking in the ink for the slave seal Naofumi unlocked the Slaveshield which gives a plus to experience and a correction to the growth of the slave, which means when she levels up she would get points to the stats that would benefit her the most. Actually, the three heroes excluding Naofumi have played games that appear to be exact replicas of this fantasy world. Like, it's all the same from the waves to monster habitats down to "NPC" quests. So their beliefs are reinforced time and again: their game knowledge is correct and their decisions should stem from it. All of these games were poorly balanced and the Shield is seriously useless in all of them. Therefore, none of the other three heroes expects Naofumi to be relevant in any future boss fight.

Anyone else hope they release an actual game based on this anime? I always loved the idea of evolving weapons and equipment. Would be fascinating to explore such a skill system.
You should read further later into the light novel "Spoilers warning" up to the point where the heroes share the ability they share like why effect their weapon can have. Their a few more ability the all legendary weapon possessed. Like you can copy weapon of your type just by scanning it with your weapon. You can also feed the weapon gems. Your weapon is indestructible. Side perks for being a shield hero is that you don't get intoxicated by all alcohol. Etc.
Uh, this is specifically talking about the shields unlocked in V.1 so none of that applies yet since even if Naofumi technically had access to the abilities all along, he won't know about or use them until later. Also footnote, the immunity to alcohol and travel sickness is Naofumi's personal ability that he had even before coming to this world; the Bow hero theorizes it's a superpower which is more common in his version of Japan.
I have a question, out of all the shield he has acquired so far by ep 3, how come the rope shield special skills is the air strike shield? it seems a pretty out of place skill for something like a rope shield would have.
All general skills can be used with any shields iirc. Air Strike Shield is a general skill, hence he can use it with any shield, which is why he uses it even when he doesn't have the rope shield on in episode 3. Obviously specific skills can still only be used with specific shields.

You said in the video you didn't know what a Pikyu Pikyu was. According to the wikia it's a fluffy and cute bird like monster. It's feathers were used in Naofumi's Barbarian Armor. "The Pikyu Pikyu feathers can be felt well since they are stuffed full between the duel skin layers." I couldn't find any pictures, though. Good video. Might refer back to it while writing fanfics. I wasn't even aware there was a light novel so I'll have to look for that now.

Well than the volume 1 is covered roughly by the 4 episodes, but he doesn't realize the curse series shield, only unlocks it, I guess they will be one hack of a wild card in his sleeve.
I totally forgot about the pipe prison. It's been a long time since I read the web novel. Mostly what I remember is (spoilers) The Iron Maiden, the weird "beach episode" arc, and the Empire Arc where they met a different hero who was a "reincarnated" person instead of a directly isekai'd person. Also the "totally not a Chocobo" birdies and the giant turtle boss. There was also a few more slaves, party members and contracted monsters as well but the details are hazy. I seem to remember one character always saying "Fueeee!" or something.
I forgot what mmorpg I was playing but you gain exp by taking damage too, not much but it's still smth and ofc killing too. In that rpg I'd played a while back
for the truth, the shield hero can use curse abilities for it is very strong but dangerous to the user for it will kill him. He had not mastered all the shield yet in the novel there is more shield to come which he can mimic other shields at least long he has a shield nearby it can copy off the resembled of it. He was able to copy a rune square shield using his abilities so it transforms exact shield. This manga goes hell lot deep and doesn't go through the whole details to it to be.
In that sense one would interpret them as pokemon (especially an outsider to the world they were warped into), and yeah. That doesnt lead to balanced shares of freedom

How do you get the Provoke ability (aggro draw (from Dungeon Siege II) )? He should also have an ability like Tower of Stone from Log Horizon: Invulnerable for a short time, but can't move.
He gets Hate Reaction, a 15m range AoE aggro draw skill that also breaks stealth effects, in the Cal Mira Island Arc. He never gets a Tower of Stone analog, but it also would not be an ability that would work very well in that world as even Absolute Barriers can be busted with Defense Rating Attacks or bypassed with Float Weapon skill attacks.

1) All Heroes gain stats from leveling and unlocking weapons. The shield gives him a ton of defense where the other heroes have more attack growth, but they're all comparably strong overall. 2) Most abilities the shield hero gets can be learned by equipping the shield for a period of time and can be used with other shields afterwards. Other abilities (like using the Rope Shield as a grappling hook) are bound to a specific shield and cannot be learned.
So are the stat boosts passive as he unlocks the shields or are the boosts only active when the specific shield is equipped? (I'm specifically talking about the stats not the abilities/effects)

Risk to rise Very minor damage. When he was fighting the balloons it took forever for him to kill something. However, if he fights stronger monsters he can’t do any damage. The enemy just brushes it off. So I think it depends on the enemy’s defense rating. Since Naofumi’s attack output is so low, he really can’t do any damage to majority of the monsters he find.
Is that the small medicine shield at 4:52? Would make sense since he is making medicine and its not his normal shield. Edit: Also the design is different from the Mush series shown.
It would be interesting if they made a game like this with weapons and armours that acted like this. Wait the shield hero manga is still ongoing? I read all of it ages ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lets take an example, if he unlocks a basic shield that buffs one of his stats and then unlock another shield that makes him better at making potions or crafting items then that bonus is permanent no matter which shield he uses. But there are skills that is exclusive to certain shields like the rope shield and the curse shield.

You said in the video you didn't know what a Pikyu Pikyu was. According to the wikia it's a fluffy and cute bird like monster. It's feathers were used in Naofumi's Barbarian Armor. "The Pikyu Pikyu feathers can be felt well since they are stuffed full between the duel skin layers." I couldn't find any pictures, though.

Thank you! Also, question: Why did he need to put that crest on Filo to “tame” her? She likes him enough that I would think she would voluntarily stick with him. Also, why did Filo throw such a fit when the crest was put on?

Well than the volume 1 is covered roughly by the 4 episodes, but he doesn't realize the curse series shield, only unlocks it, I guess they will be one hack of a wild card in his sleeve.

I totally forgot about the pipe prison. It's been a long time since I read the web novel. Mostly what I remember is (spoilers) The Iron Maiden, the weird "beach episode" arc, and the Empire Arc where they met a different hero who was a "reincarnated" person instead of a directly isekai'd person. Also the "totally not a Chocobo" birdies and the giant turtle boss. There was also a few more slaves, party members and contracted monsters as well but the details are hazy. I seem to remember one character always saying "Fueeee!" or something.

for the truth, the shield hero can use curse abilities for it is very strong but dangerous to the user for it will kill him. He had not mastered all the shield yet in the novel there is more shield to come which he can mimic other shields at least long he has a shield nearby it can copy off the resembled of it. He was able to copy a rune square shield using his abilities so it transforms exact shield. This manga goes hell lot deep and doesn't go through the whole details to it to be.

only a few weeks has passed in the show. raphtalia says in the latest episode that demi humans bodies mature as they level up which is why they arent seen as human.
Feed the shield some tnt and you'll get explosion. Well, he might consider feeding it a bow or sword is fine too.

How do you get the Provoke ability (aggro draw (from Dungeon Siege II) )? He should also have an ability like Tower of Stone from Log Horizon: Invulnerable for a short time, but can't move.
He gets Hate Reaction, a 15m range AoE aggro draw skill that also breaks stealth effects, in the Cal Mira Island Arc. He never gets a Tower of Stone analog, but it also would not be an ability that would work very well in that world as even Absolute Barriers can be busted with Defense Rating Attacks or bypassed with Float Weapon skill attacks.

1) All Heroes gain stats from leveling and unlocking weapons. The shield gives him a ton of defense where the other heroes have more attack growth, but they're all comparably strong overall.
2) Most abilities the shield hero gets can be learned by equipping the shield for a period of time and can be used with other shields afterwards. Other abilities (like using the Rope Shield as a grappling hook) are bound to a specific shield and cannot be learned.

I think they are passive once he masters the shield.

Risk to rise Very minor damage. When he was fighting the balloons it took forever for him to kill something. However, if he fights stronger monsters he can’t do any damage. The enemy just brushes it off. So I think it depends on the enemy’s defense rating. Since Naofumi’s attack output is so low, he really can’t do any damage to majority of the monsters he find.
Insignificant. He does deal damage, but it takes hours to bring down an enemy.

So what's the math all his bonus es or ... does he have to equip the shields to get that bonus? Is it an active bonus or passive
Lets take an example, if he unlocks a basic shield that buffs one of his stats and then unlock another shield that makes him better at making potions or crafting items then that bonus is permanent no matter which shield he uses.
But there are skills that is exclusive to certain shields like the rope shield and the curse shield.
Special effects can only be used once per use of a shield since Rope has shown up twice. Bet if you want to use it again you need to switch shields.
its a mistranslation, it meant to say that special effects can only be used if the shield with the effect is equipped, eg. rope effect can only be used if rope shield is equipped,, the bonus effect of it air strike shield can be used even if the rope shield isnt equipped

Takihero Squires it’s a new shield that was unlocked because the wielder (naofumi) achieved great levels of hatred against everyone and the world he is now in. From what I’ve heard the cursed shield takes health from the user in exchange for great power when used
Well of course using dps and tanks as a way to kill something like using all dps people who can heal themselves and us buffs and debuffs to beat enemy's and can use skills that do major damage

I gotta wonder now if there he will eventually gain a sort of blade shield for his own offense, kinda like the one which the Encode Talker from “Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS” has.
