I have FS 5 to do those changes and the FS 4 for tap tempo/tuner.
I started doing presets for each song with their bpm set already and I always use snapshots. But sometimes if there is a song we did not plan... There is where tap tempo comes in handy, I use compressor and two overdrives outside
Cool! I actually started that way, foot switch 5 was my tap tempo so that I could stay in snapshot mode. But I didn't like not seeing the blinky light. We don't play to a click track so the tempo can drift and I like to be able to check to see if my tab tempo is in time still. I also set tempo for the song and the preset beforehand, in theory, but in practice there's still a lot of patches where I don't realize I forgot to set that until we start playing lol
I've been chasing the whale-sound tone for so long.
For $50 more than the Stomp you can get the Stomp XL. The only reason this would be a good idea is for space reasons or if you didn’t know the XL existed
There's actually a bigger deal breaker than the size: The stomp XL doesn't have labels over the buttons. So if you make snapshots you can't label them and see from preset to preset what each snapshot is doing unless you just memorized it for every single one of your presets. Same goes for customized foot switches. The size is a deal breaker for me because I like to sit the stomp on a table, but the labels is such a big deal breaker that The stomp XL would be utterly unusable for me (same with the Helix LT).
... I actually think line 6 is going to kill the stomp. They realized they made a product That's too perfect and nobody needs anything else (although that doesn't stop us from wanting everything else lol). That's why they rolled out the stomp XL and HX one. The stomp is going to disappear or the next gen of it will be significantly neutered.
Or just get a small tuner pedal. The switcher is cool for other stuff though.
lol I never thought of that, but I would hate to have to bring another power adapter just for that. Good thinking, though!
Is it possible to make that swith latching ?
Yes, you could use a foot switch that latches, and then in settings on the stomp You can tell the unit that the switches latch.
How did you set up footswitch 5 to cycle through snapshot mode and preset mode
I did it in the settings menu with HX edit on my computer. I'm assuming you could also do it from the face of the unit in global settings.

Can you also run a Expression pedal in chain with this?
Not exactly... There are only two theoretical extra "buttons/expressions" available and you have to assign each of footswitch 4 and 5 to be either it's respective foot switch or expression one or two... To add an expression pedal you would need to eliminate one of the two extra foot switches, And you would have to use a TRS to quarter inch y cable to plug both the expression pedal and the foot switch pedal into the single jack. One of the foot switches would work and the other one would do nothing.
... I would much prefer it if I could find an expression pedal that has a foot switch on it but I haven't found one that I like that's a reasonable price. Then you could just use a TRS cable like I'm showing here.

@@iRDude415 if price doesn't matter, I think Line 6 offers a pedal that has a button of some kind and expression. But if price didn't matter you could just use a helix lol

@@iRDude415 I agree... I actually have a video in the works about how I use the HX stomp together with an HX Effects to re-create a Helix, but it's better because the parts are smaller and more versatile. I'm hoping to get posting again this week, the summer really got away from me
So, once you run this you can't have a volume pedal anymore?
That's correct... But some company makes something similar that connects via MIDI, and that would be a way to do it and still have the expression pedal jack available. I just do without a volume pedal because I have the auto swell block for that.

...I didn't like it because it needs it's own power, plus it's expensive. If you need the extra foot switches AND the expression pedal I recommend running an HX effects together with the HX stop and controlling the stomp from the effects with midi. I made a video about it, It's better than a full size Helix for less money, you should check it out!

would it be possible to run a splitter between this and an expression pedal do you think?
Yes it is possible but only one of the buttons on the footswitch would work

@@texasbuttercup If I really wanted an expression pedal and this foot switch this is how I would do it... There's a company, probably several of them now, that make a three-button foot switch that connects to the stomp via a MIDI cable. I would run one of those along with an expression pedal plugged into the expression pedal jack.

That solves the "more foot switches" problem, and it's sweet that it has four snapshots, but it creates a new problem... It's too big for a lot of use cases. I guess for people who don't need it to be small that would be a way to go, though. Also, isn't it more expensive? I thought it was but I'm not sure.
