Late to the party ...but the teardowns bring me back everytime.
I used all your videos to undervolt my CPU and GPU on Alienware m15 i7-9750h, RTX2060. And yes, the temps went down a lot. That’s my first gaming laptop, and I had no idea that it’s so much adjustments temp wise. Tonight I changed my thermal paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonite, the temps went additional 5c lower. However, watching this video I think putting liquid metal on the CPU only would make an even bigger difference. Anyway, I think I’ll do it next year, after the warranty expires. Keep posting cool videos! Thanks for the insight!

Bob Of All Trades, so I was like F+x& it and put the liquid metal on the CPU as prescribed. It’s amazing that this little drop of liquid metal, drop the temps on the CPU by 15c. Now hardcore gaming max temps 80-81, before 95-96c. I read a lot about that liquid metal dries up after time, so what do you think. When should I reapply liquid metal? Most posts say 6 months.

I've been searching for a long time a video like this, I have the same laptop, but from another Tongfang reseller (Avell, here in Brazil). I never tryed disassemble my laptop, because on my first atempt I saw this is a very difficult task, even I disassembled my Asus K45VM, another that is hard to do it (at least for me). I saw this video and it's my guide now, a very very thankfull for this.

@@BobOfAllTrades Have you ever tried the ROG 750j? That heat sink had 38 contact points (37 were the GPU). It was beyond me. I decided to give it away and replaced it with a Mech-17. If my new laptop is anything like the Mech-15 I'll be in good shape for repasting!

I have a question Bob, I thought of a way to prepare myself for liquid metal as ive been pasting regular paste back and forth and I kind of dislike just slapping it down and thats it but when I see videos of people painting the LM on by dipping the q tip into the LM, I prefer that way of doing it, basically painting it on cause I know it will actually cover the whole thing but my question is to prepare for it with thermal grizzly as ive heard it takes time to smoosh it in, I was thinking of using something that is a duplicate of a CPU and GPU chip, looks like one but is fake and still metal or stainless steel and practicing on that before attempting it or I can use the copper shims that I just bought as a test, good idea? I have bootleg kapton tape, which has a strong heat resistence and is rather slim on pcb.
Bob, I have an Eluktronics Mech-15 G3 RTX3080 w/16Gvram and Ryzen 9 5900HX. Is it possible to use Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on my GPU or is mine the same as last gen? Thanks for the great videos. Also, is it possible to under volt my laptop or is that only possible on intel systems?
Don’t do it. If you put liquid metal on your graphics card the manufacturer cannot honor the warranty. Even if they want to Nvidia will not honor the warranty and the manufacture cannot afford to eat the cost of the graphics card.
Bob, could you review the Alienware m15? Was considering the 1060 version but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra 300 bucks compared to the HP Omen which seems better.

These are way too expensive for their spec so buying one is not smart on my end. Selling used laptops can be tricky when you need to maximize your return.
I guess I'll go with the Omen then. It seems like the best value performance laptop there is.
P T AW is one of the last laptops for value I could recommend. Not that they are a bad machine either.
I have this laptop and I had to strip it down to clean it and its a freaking pain in the ass... hours wasted with a cable that would not go back easily... sigh. Great laptop though.
Great Video as always , i am going to buy this laptop today , but i wonder, could you make a benchmark videos about it (how much FPS i can expect) and also VRmark test on it , if not that's okay , keep going......
I don't cover benchmarks here. There's nothing stopping this laptop from performing the way the best 7700hq and GTX 1070 laptops perform. My testing goes way beyond the basics.
The problem left of the table with benchmarks as those CAN actually change over time thanks to drivers for example. Makes the testing irrelevant 6 months down the road.

How long a regular thermal paste stay on good conditions after the repaste? I mean, some people have said I will must do the same process again in 2 year at least because the thermal paste wont be effective anymore! Is it true? (I used the Mastergel Maker)
Monitor temps and see. The general rule of thumb gets tossed out the window when you consider the variations of environments. My laptops are squeaky clean and dust free. I get other clients laptops that I am working on today for example and they're clogged with dust.
Considering my laptop stays in the best environment condition, very clean, no dusty... Or even that I'll keep the fans clean all the time! Just talking about the thermal paste at all, how long do you think it will stays on good condition and no dry? Because open just for clean the fans its easy, but I would not like to teardown the heatsink again hahaha

I sold this laptop along time ago the original owner still use it and it is all good. But I’ll tell you something if I had this laptop here there’s no way in heck I would take it apart again LOL
