I’m a fake florist also! Doing this for years! What’s not to love… yes DT is the best! Love those sprig with feathers. Awesome job, keep up the good work… 🌺🌸🌿🌱😎
Absolutely 💯 love your helpful hints and that you use spray paint to revive pots and greenery! Tysm. Love these arrangements so much! I'm going shopping now to create some like yours❤
I'm so glad I found your video!! Even though it's a old one! ❤️ I have been wanting to put fake flowers on my front porch. I didn't know if I should use soil or foam!! Thank you!! 🙏
LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Now that I am a senior citizen, I have a few aches and pains, and find it hard to get down on hands and knees anymore to care for my garden, this will solve that problem I think :) Thanks for your clever idea!
Yay! They still look great mid winter lol. My neighbor just put bundles of bright red fake flowers into the ground along her walkway, and they look great as one color. I really appreciate you commenting Helenmarie! Take care and be clever.
Some people say you can tell they’re fake. But some cannot. Just put some marigolds from Walmart in bunches in the ground. But ithink they need to be closer to bushes or something-not alone.
See!??? My husband was criticizing me for putting fake flowers in our window boxes this spring but we spend over $300 in flowers every year and they die off! So I got a bunch of fake flowers and our windows are so permanently pretty 😂
That is so funny and awesome. A lady asked my husband how we got our flowers to keep growing through summer and he just shook his head. Thanks for watching. This is the spray I now use: bit.ly/2UEE7up on Amazon.
I am very frugal and have zero flowers because they cost so much, and the upkeep and time involved, I just don't have it! Your comment has given me hope! I'm not sure how to go about it, but I'm hoping for pretty flowers at my place too with the artificial ones!
try spraying them with some Krylon clear spray. this will help them from fading and help protect them from from the elements.. Especially if using dollar tree flowers.. it can extend the lives up to 2 years
Great ideas!, LauriePOP! I'm wanting to put some fake flowers in pots outside during the winter so my deck doesn't look so drab. I have had real flowers out, but Fall is approaching. I wonder how to keep the fake flowers from blowing away or getting ruined by the weather. Still brainstorming. Thanks for sharing your fake flower arrangements.
I'm going this week to get my Fall ones. I use soil to keep mine sturdy; I fill the pot 3/4 full and some stems are kind of short. I also stick mine in the ground and they look so happy. Thank you for watching!
I wish you were still making these videos! If there’s a way to use the fake florals that doesn’t look granny chic I’m in!! Might try some this weekend with my dollar tree floral stash!
Ahhh, thank you so much! I really love the idea. I have some white ones in the pots by our front doors. They're mixed with real flowers because the pot is so wide.
I have the frustration of trying my dardest to keep deer from eating everything that I plant , so now they are going to be the ones bummed out!!! Love your ideas.
Came across your video I have a small side yard cemented but with dirt around 3 corners, I bought alot of flowers 💐 from dollar tree to stick in the dirt, any recommendations with this technique? Not going to use pots.
You are off to a good start, however, there are a few things that will enhance your work. I am a professional landscape designer and this is what I do with pots. Although the ones I make up use real plants, the same rules apply with fake plants. You need a thriller, a filler and a spiller. The thriller should be tall and go in the middle (if the pot is to be seen from all sides.) If the pot goes against a wall or fence, then the thriller goes in the middle, but at the back of the pot. The filler does what it says...fills the pot. Often for impact all the same type of flower, or the same colour flower does the best job. Then the spiller is something that trails outside the pot towards the ground...think, ivy, a vine etc.. And just to be clear, although fake plants are maintenance free, there is something very special about nurturing real plants and watching them grow.
Thanks so much for watching this video! I’ve now niched down to just travel tips as a pilot wife. But I have a pot out front with fake ones and do need a thriller for sure. We’re north of Houston and lantana is the only thing we can grow.
I think you would benefit from using more variations in the height of the flowers. In this video, most of the flowers ended up being about the same height as each other, with spiky things behind them. I recommend googling some Japanese flower arrangements, that will give you a good feel for what I felt might help. Also, it's your arrangement, and your yard. Not trying to tell you how to live your life. I just figured this might strike some new creative spark for you :)
Very nice! do you put stones or something on top of soil to prevent backsplash on plants when it rains and obviously with holes in pot water drains out right?
I went to Michael's and bought gorgeous hot pink geraniums and hydrangeas and they look amazing with our caladiums. Have you ever gone to Arborgate in Tomball.? They have amazing potting soil and plants and I'm going to amend our beds with their compost and soil.
O wow! I really need to be a fake florist also! I am always planting flowers in my nice yellow pot by my front door only to have them die pretty quickly! What dollar store do you get these from? Dollar Tree? Dollar General? Thanks Laurie! You are super creative!
One time, I was planting "faux" flowers in my flower bed. A guy walking down the street stopped to see what I was doing. When I finished, he just shook his head and said "Now I have seen it all!"
Hello there! Fellow Houstonian here. So much has happened in the three years since hurricane Harvey that it makes hurricane Harvey look like a cakewalk. I’m curious as to what you’ve done to rebound from “Snow-Vid” destruction. That’s what brought me here. We have started over in our yard But nothing has grown enough because the heat is so intense.
Do you spray silk flowers with scotchguard or just use plastic flowers? Apparently water seal sprays work great if you use silk flowers outside. I’m going fake flowers this year. We have a squirrel problem and they just destroy the plants. And hail 😳 can also use real branches and pussywillows . Exciting!!
I tell you I love using them. They're a no brainer for me. I did not know about the spray until 2 years ago. And from a distance you really cannot tell that they're fake.
Real soil. That's the secret. Or mix it with sand. I filled my soil up 3/4 of the way. But I also put my pots near a bush so maybe that blocks some of the wind. I have had two blow away, but I found them in the yard the next day. Thank you so much for watching! Did you see the video going around about using a wiffle ball and hot glueing flowers around it? Then you have the ball on a yard stake.
Ooh, Robbie, I do not. But a fellow subscriber told me about a spray you can buy for fake flowers - it looks like a can of spray paint. I haven't tried it yet. Thank you for watching!
Julie, yes! I love the red ones in the ground especially. I also just did yellow this last month. They are just short enough to look real. Thank you for watching!
You didn't share 4 things you learned about putting fake flowers outside..this was more of a teaching video about arrangements...disappointed..I'd like to know how to protect/keep fake flowers from fading..
Gardening and then becoming a traveler is difficult. This is cheaper than installing an irrigation system. I don't plan on being home much to take care of the garden I do have. At least for this year, I think the suggestions are great.
Great Video! Loved how you took your time and the way your flowers look
So nice of you!
Quick tip! Any fake greenery spray olive oil mixed with water to make them look real and undull and refreshed!
LOVE it! Thank you so much for watching by the way.
Okay but do you know for fact those will protect against rain and uv ????
Thank u
Wow thanks for the tip

They're so versatile!
This is great, just bought a "new to me" window box and plan on putting fake flowers in it. Great tips! 💖
Oh, awesome!! Thank you for watching!
First of all, I love your personality. You're so much fun to watch. All the flower pots were pretty, but my favorite was number 3.
Wilhelmina, thank you for watching. I loved these arrangements! I just ordered some floral protective spray so they won't fade too easily.
I love your videos. I’m heading to dollar tree to make some of these. I don’t have a green thumb but this I can definitely do! Thank you
I do not either! I just found some great red ones at Hobby Lobby.
Absolutely 💯 love your helpful hints and that you use spray paint to revive pots and greenery! Tysm. Love these arrangements so much! I'm going shopping now to create some like yours❤

Thank you! They are my absolute faves. And all from the Dollar Store! I know you love a bargain too.

They all looked beautiful but my favorite is number one. Really enjoyed your video.
Thank you for watching!
Genius! I love it and gonna try it. Thank you 😊
Hope you like it!
@@TravelTipsbyLauriehi where do you get the flower pots?
Brilliant idea! Would be awesome if you showed us where you use these flowers in the yard. Thx

Love #1 best. Have often thought about trying this but dont know if I could pull it off.
Some people say you can tell they’re fake. But some cannot. Just put some marigolds from Walmart in bunches in the ground. But ithink they need to be closer to bushes or something-not alone.
I think it would look really pretty if the pots were black. I think the flowers would really pop.
Fantastic idea! And it kind of blends with the soil. My lantana is taking over so that's another project too. Thanks for commenting!
We have lantana in yellow and it is kind of taking over too

Patti, with me it's the heat that kills everything. Thank you for watching! I just saw a fake flower Christmas tree in a local ice cream shop lol.
Year round arrangements? Do you trade out in the winter ☃️?
I used some red ones. I had the marigolds out into December, and my mom laughed at how bad they looked.
Came across your video I have a small side yard cemented but with dirt around 3 corners, I bought alot of flowers 💐 from dollar tree to stick in the dirt, any recommendations with this technique? Not going to use pots.
I learned that if they have a longer stem, they look less fake. I also liked using the spike plants to add some dimension. Have fun!
What season are you putting these out in the yard?
They were in the Fall. Some were in the summer
Clear spray will keep them from collecting dust.
I have "borrowed" weeds from neighborhood fields. I use them like baby's breathe.
Beautiful!

Walmart flower section has good prices on your fake flowers. Chose some for $.97 cents,. Fern branches $5.00. and a lot of choices under $3.00!

Hi, HL is a great store in the US. hobbylobby.com
How would any of this differ on a hanging basket arrangement, or would it really differ at all?
I don't think it would be different. Thanks for watching! Sorry I missed this comment so long ago.
