I just used this arrangement as a model to put one together, with my toddler, for my wife. The kiddo wanted to make momma a bouquet because "i love my momma!". It went over well, thanks!
John: ...visual impact, looks beautiful... Janos: that stem. The stem, John. The Orchid stem. Arrrrgghhhhh... Beautiful, as always, John. Love your work, John and Janos!
I love-love doing faux flowers! In clear vases I use new aquarium gravel or stones if I need weight. Usually need weight for a busy counter like mine at work. You gave away my secret of using old dried out foam! I have a open container in my hot garage where water evaporates from old wet foam.
😊 it’s good to be economic + waste not, want not as they say. And yes, a bit of weight in the container really helps, especially if the design is in a busy area.
Very helpful to know to fill the large vase with used wet foam! I recently purchased a pair of 24 inch tall jug containers and was searching for a video to help me know how to fill it so I can place the flowers! Your video was perfect! Thank you!
I admit to having shied away from faux flowers in the last 10 years or so, but only recently bought two stems to place in a tall slender vase for a bureau in my bedroom. THIS arrangement, John, is exquisite, and I might have been equally satisfied with the curly willow and the blossom branches Just beautiful! Of course, I'm envious of that vase - another from your terrific collection. As ever, thank you for the inspiration and for the opportunity to watch you in action. What a joy!
Thank you so much - you are always so kind. 😊 You are right of course - just the blossom and willow would be a great option in a vase like this . And the other end of the scale is using all the stems 😆 Stay safe 😀🌼
Imagine I have been order to make silk flowers and was Google about silk flowers and Joos you pop up bless you given me great idea appreciated you always beautiful design
I'm trying to start a floral business beginning only with silks. I've wondered if it's possible to succeed and I'm praying for the best, so I thank you for pointing out all the benefits of working with silks. Also your arrangement is beautiful.
Thank you! 😀 there is no reason that a silk only business would not work - in fact, there is no waste as the products do not go off! We have a couple of videos discussing wedding work and funeral work - but just generally how to approach business that you might like to watch. Just scroll through our videos from last summer. I wish you the best of luck in your venture 😀🙋🏼♂️😆
@@FlowerJoos thank you Sir, your positivity and kindness are very uplifting! I'm puzzled because there isn't a single silk floral business near where I live. It seems for some reason they're less popular, but perhaps I can change people's minds about it. Soon I hope to work with both silks and fresh flowers once I can save enough to invest in a cooler.
Good job, I always enjoy watching you create. I only work with artificial flowers. No watering, no worrying about sunlight, no mess! They are more expensive to buy, but they last for years, and like you said, you can take them apart and reuse them. I have 6 wreaths for my front entrance door...all artificial. I just change them according to the season and occasion. Wish I could show you pics! =)
Send us pics! Our email is flowerjoos@gmail.com 😀 it will be nice to see your designs 🌼 That’s a great idea - make decor you can rotate - so ring the changes! 😀🙋🏼♂️
Gorgeous, John! And I totally agree that the faux flowers are much nicer now then a few years ago. There are certainly advantages to using them, as you mentioned. I actually made an artificial arrangement a few weeks ago and took a picture of it, sent it to a friend who said it looked really nice and real. And then today, I was taking a picture of one of my fresh arrangements and I had put a stem up higher, out of the water in the vase, just to snap the picture! 😆
@@FlowerJoos ... Thank you for your replies! I would love to see a design featuring coral colors. And, I would love to see an Ikebana using flowering quince. You seem to have access to all sorts of materials!
You continue to creat one fabulous arrangement after another! Since I live in Hawai’i where we have limited access to mainland flowers, I have been able to order really exceptional botanically correct florals from Prestige Botanicals. They has allowed me to have the joy of creating realistic and elegant high end arrangements. Thank you so much for reinforcing that it is “OK” to use them! I WISH there was an IKEA in Hawai’i!
Thank you! I used to suggest this for customers with regular designs to do - like in a church. Buy one or two stems each week to build up a selection to enhance designs when flowers are expensive or you want a real impact. Hawaii must be nice though 😀🌼🙋🏼♂️
Great, loving big arrangements at the moment. Faux flowers are so much better these days. Most of my vases are glass but I’ve been raking up moss from the garden, drying it, then using it to disguise the stems and any foam or support.
Beautiful! I have several stems of various flowers and haven't been able to come up with a design for them. I'm certainly going to try this one! Thanks for sharing your talent 💕
Just getting to watch this today! It's fabulous. I have an arrangement on my landing window which I like but it pales in comparison to this!! My window is huge and your design would be more size appropriate for it.....as well as amazing, of course. Love it, John 💕

I think that is a good way to create designs - the only issue is cutting stems short - once short it’s harder to make them longer again! But now, I think you might struggle to know it’s a mix 😀🙋🏼♂️
I loved the arrangement; however, I was bothered by the "STEM" of one of the pieces sticking out of the back. I'm wondering if it was on purpose that you left it or that it was really a mistake??? It bothered me so much, I had to write!!!
Really great arrangement! Agreed, faux flowers, plants, (trees!) have come such a long way the last few years. They're easy to find, reasonably priced and can last indefinitely in so many arrangements. I have a big bin of them under a bed, protected from dust. Every so often I 'rediscover' them and get an arrangement together for a table, bedroom, the piano, so easy! Curly willow is so fun too, I've had stems of that last forever as well. They've gone from fresh pieces in Spring bouquets to parts of X mas designs many years later when they've been dried and sprayed gold!
Thank you! Yes, keeping them dust free is important when they are stored - I’m the same - I rediscover silks every now and again when looking for something else 😀 Glad you enjoyed the video 🌼🙋🏼♂️
I'm building a new house and currently realizing that my kitchen island is huge and the focal point of my home. Its oan oval island and im looking to do my own tall center piece what flowers would you recommend. I love the green leaves you added in this piece but looking to do one that has it visually 360 from all sides
That would make a great focal point - and you could change it seasonally as well, so constantly update it with the season. All round is easy to create - just keep turning it as you add in your flowers. The flower choices depend on your style and other colours, choices you have decor wise. But as a base design then just faux foliages would give a greasy display just on their own 😀🙋🏼♂️
