- Back in the fall of 2024, this was a real city kayaking adventure in another country! Returning to Riga, Latvia, after 15+ years, it was great fun to explore the city by kayak, and to meet up with Ed, a UK paddler resident in Finland, who also paddled an Itiwit X500 and happened to be on the way to the city about the same time, so of course we synchronized for a trip together!
Riga turned out to be an amazing city to go paddling in. Highly recommended! You can see some of the "special features" in this video, which will be followed by more.

Hey, I know that guy! Great video, and prompt uploading too!
That tunnel was unexpected. A fantastic day out, all round.
Absolutely - it was awesome! Thanks for the company! That was a great trip on the water. And prompt indeed, didn't even take me two years to get a second video out from the trip 😂 I regret I couldn't join you in Copenhagen - it would have been awesome to repeat the adventure (albeit in Danish)...
The tunnel was pretty awesome. What you didn't get to see was the blue light under the Railway Bridge, which made for some very cool effects at night. Maybe reason for another Riga paddle in the future..
Wonderful area! All those tunnels! I love paddling under and through tunnels, piers, bridges.
The fall colors in the trees are so beautiful. Here in San Diego CA there is no "fall" everything just turns brown. Unless you drive up to the mountains which is @ a 45 minute to hour drive northeast.
@@karenlegotte417 Oh! Yes, there were some nice colors here. My maybe best paddle in the fall was in a narrow canal with absolutely flat water and the fall colors of the surrounding trees mirroring all across the water. Incredible.
@@karenlegotte417 Agreed Karen! It can be a very special experience. This area and Oslo would be among my top paddle experiences in terms of "didn't expect this, but it's quite cool"!
Great video Patrik But I have to ask to ensure I'm not going mad. Have you posted this video before ? because I remember it. Or did you just posted a few shorts of this trip in the past ?
What jumped out was his little friend he brought with him lol.
