Hey guys! A great vlog :) If you are still in Latvia, please do try to visit some medieval German crusaders castles outside Riga, for example Sigulda-Turaida, Cesis (the capital of the Livonian Order), castle of Bauska. Or a beautiful 18th century baroque palace of Rundale, it is staining, like Versailles in France, it was build for a Duke of Kurland - Ernst Johann von Biron ( a lover of a Russian empress Anna and regent of the Russian Empire 1740), for example HBO series Catherine The Grate (which is now on) was filmed there and resent BBC series War an Pace as well. Also a little town of Kuldiga is like a frozen history, it barely changed since the 18th century and looks like something from a fairy-tale, also in Kuldiga you can find the widest waterfall in Europe. And of course, everywhere you go you can try some local food and beer, even some local vine (the most northern in the world) :) Latvia is a relatively small country, so you can get anywhere in the morning by bus or a train and get back to Riga in the evening. Enjoy Latvia :)
Riga Central Market pavilions have never been zeppelins. They are built using metal structures that were intended for zeppelin hangar construction. Which he was abandoned leaving German troops in 1919.
@@never_say_never_777 I am Latvian and I know what regular Latvian food look like. If you eat this in Lithuania that doesn't mean that the sae or similar type of food can't be eaten somewhere else. Potatoes didn't originated in Lithuania.
We love to make fries from fresh potato which is much more flavourful and not so dry as store bought frozen ones. Using dried herbs in the oil adds to the flavour along with the fresh ones on top. With two weeks in Latvia you'll get so fat not being able to resist all the food and you'll love it! :D
Thank you for the warm video, guys! I am going to Riga with my wife and daughter for the New Year’s Eve, and I’m looking forward to it. Good luck in your vlog career! ! I also detest the black balsam but I’ll have to get a shot anyway 💯😜
Guys, thank you for your point of view on our city. You definitely need to see a masterpieces of Art Nouveau on Alberta street, Strelnieku street and Elizabetes street. Hope to see your reaction on them in a next video))
We did check out the Albert Street architecture but unfortunately we didn't film our reactions :( Our last Latvia video is coming out this Friday! It's about the nightlife in Riga :)
Hi I'm Egyptian Latvian I'm I Latvia at the moment thanks for visiting Latvia You definitely just got a new subscriber love your content Keep it up ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁😁😊😘🥰
You should try Latvian Honey Best place to buy, taste it is at Daugmales Jāņa Bišu Medus 🍯 My mom works there and its a nice place And its in Vecrīga And Latvia Centrālais Tirgus is really nice and im going myself to it and you can always find good food
Those aren’t exactly french fries because they are not deep fried in oil. They are cooked on a regular cooking pan and not in deep fryer. So they aren’t as dry and burnt but nice and soft and actually tastes like a potato.
Whoa... I used to go to central market really often in the past... hadn't been there for some 2-3 years... so much has changed! There weren't such "clean" and "modern-like" booths as well as no such space allocated for restaurants :O Need to go there now! :D You happened to get there in right time :D
From a fellow American here - I actually visited and enjoyed Riga back in November 2018 to celebrate my birthday, which falls on the same day as Latvia's national day, effectively a double birthday celebration - and both were milestones (different milestones, though) - I did visit the Central Market on one of the afternoons there and had lunch (a seafood soup) and bought some nuts at one of the stalls trying to speak in somewhat poor, but passable Latvian.
Not French fries but baked potatoes, for public they cut it in the way that fries look like, but at home we do it different way, either slices or small cubes
I'm patiently watching the video without skipping at all just to see if you guys visited my moms work place known as "Mārtiņ beķereja" (it's i guess you can say a pastry cafe)

We on Latvia eat so many potatoes well that’s what I think cuz my mom and almost all of her friends eat potatoes 😂 sometimes I get excited when moms says she will make spaghetti 😂😂😂
Regarding those fries - not fried like french fries, so all good, rather traditional way folks here in Latvia fry them, mostly with less greens on top tho, so you’re good, it’s traditional afaik :). Edit, some auto correct mess cleaned up.

You shouldn't be surprised about potato being some of the best you have ever had. We live and breathe potato.

Thanks for the video - discovered something new about my own city, ddin't knew there were food courts in that pavilion.
Food courts are new, they opened after renovation in last winter or spring.
If your eating nd it gets messy it has to be good! Great share and have a great Monday!
Exactly our thoughts!!
One or two teaspoons poured into coffee is the way to drink. Black Balsam originally was prepared as drugs (medicine) in 17/18 Centuries.
In latvia we just call them cooked potatoes and its a tradition to put onions dill parsley etc in it
If it doesn't have a dill in it is it really Latvian?
Lol it must have dill or be pickled! :)
