Her cooking was awesome Hungarian/Polish and is my favorite foods to this day. I have my Polish Hungarian recipes right in my head from generations ago.
Write down your recipes so that they don't die along with you when you die. Leave them for the generations that follow. A grandmother's or aunt's handwritten cookbooks is one of the nicest things someone can leave behind.

Our food is very spicey compared to more northern European foods thanks to our asian heritage. But it fused a lot with german cuisine, we eat tons of cabages and pork. Many of our food is actually very easy to make at home, even in Sweden as long as you can get your hands on good quality paprika powder.

In Australia, when we were young kids, mum used to make Lecso every other Sunday for lunch/brunch. She used to cook up a big pot with garlic sausage mixed. She would then serve it with fresh fried eggs, sunny side up, on top and fresh buttered bread. It was so delicious. I wish she hadn't given her recipe away many years ago. :( I would love to cook it again now that I'm older.
Rick Terscale, I’m Hungarian born and living in the US for 50 years. Lecso is sweet peppers like yellow or red ones, sliced and sautéed with sliced onions. Cook for few minutes and add sliced good quality sausages, smoked are the best. Or fresh sausages cooked separately to make sure well cooked.

Some people can't make sense of a guy who is chill and not particularly expressive. Adam may well just be an introverted guy who was not looking to steal the show. He seems like a cool dude, I would spend a day with him stuffing my face. 😂
It IS one of the tourist attractions of the city, so they have a reputation to preserve. 😉 But also, Hungarians like high quality produce and ingredients when it comes to food, and that means keeping things clean is important to them. These people are really a lot about food and cooking and eating, and doing things the proper way in the kitchen. It is quite common to hear Hungarians criticizing how other people make the same dish. 😂 These are people who complain about the weight they will put on but they will go ahead and eat it anyway. 😂 I'm Hungarian.
My friend in school was from Hungary and her mom made the best sandwiches ever! She made a sandwich spread which I have never forgotten and never saw again. I think it had cheese, paprika and relish and the consistency of a spread on crusty bread. My mom tried so hard to duplicate it because I wouldn't shut up about it 😂 We ended up eating pimento cheese which was nice but not the same

Otherwise basically everyone would be pronouncing all names of everything in the world "wrong" just because its different in the local language. Like Berlin, Paris, Moscow, Bavaria, Prague, ...
I visited Budapest for a day when we went on holiday to Vienna. I was amazed at how Hungarians could speak perfect English! Especially compared to the Austrians.
Just FYI to everyone, the chimney cake is about 300 forints/$1 USD outside that store. That has got to be the most expensive place in Budapest. I hope it was amazing because the ones you can get for about 300 forints are very good.
Logically, if you have limited time to eat lots of typical stuff, and you want to show decent quality stuff (so people know what the decent stuff looks like), you will 1) go to the more expensive places, and 2) try to stay in a central area, where unfortunately everything is more expensive no matter where you are in the world. Good point mentioning that you can get the same stuff for cheaper though.

Adam is a great guy! He took great care of me and my group while we were there in February. Nice to see him on my favorite food vloggers video of Budapest! I Love the mangalica pork!
Sir I am thinking to go to Budapest, tell u r Frnd Adam to help me,I will pay him
We recently visited Budapest and were blown away by the city and the incredible food there. So rich and hearty!
I am first generation hungarian born outside Hungary. My parents were refugees in 1956. They did not know each other then but met in London England. I was born in London in 1961. I loved this video. I grew up with hungarian food and their traditions. I no longer have my grandparents and parents. I miss them very much. I now live in Canada. I only been to Hungary in 1997 to bury my grandparents. Hungary is a beautiful country. The food is unbelievably good. Thank you for this video. Hungarian food is my comfort food. ❤
I am so happy that you went here! I was born and raised in Yugoslavia (now Serbia) but am Hungarian. Was soooo happy when this video popped up!! So glad that you enjoyed such delicious food
Double like!
That's it! I'm on my way to Hungary, I can't take this anymore....🤤
My great grandmother is 100% and kept her heritage when she raised a family in Detroit. Now in those days Detroit was NOTHING like it is now! It was a great city to raise European huge families.
Wow! When your ancestors moved in US & what would be the reason? Now is it not possible to sustain or live with a large family in Detroit
@@satyampandey890 In 1956, many Hungarian families moved to Western Europe and America. Look for it on the Internet: Hungary 1956 (very deep story).

My gf is hungarian most is nice but most is rank in my eyes but they do these wraps wat is meaty and all stuff top cook oven while vary nice man one my faves not sure on name but is creamy and juicy porky i think 🥴
thank you from Hungary
Hungarian food looks so tasty. I've only tried Langos and it was really good.
Cheers from Sweden.
Thanks im hungarian and its lángos btw( no hate ☺)
Our food is very spicey compared to more northern European foods thanks to our asian heritage. But it fused a lot with german cuisine, we eat tons of cabages and pork. Many of our food is actually very easy to make at home, even in Sweden as long as you can get your hands on good quality paprika powder.
Wow, my dream country is Sweden.
I'm glad for your comment. As a Hungarian, I have to say that we eat pretty meaty, as you could see in the video of the noodles and sausages. Plus some international dishes are pretty spicy too. There may be a problem in this country, the jerk of some people, it is also bad for my Hungarian existence to see sexist, jerk people sometimes.
@@annamariaignacz5005 me too
Well thank you. I am Hungarian and yes, food is pretty good here :D My grandmother used to live in Sweden btw
Bro
As a Hungarian follower of you, all I want to say is, you are the only foreigner who pronounces the word Budapest correctly😂👊
Apart from every Polish person in the world!!!
Yeah fr
Im happy that someone finally apriciate the hungarian food, a lot of people say its just langos and Gulash
@@elizabethlayton7422diced onions, sliced peppers, sliced tomatoes, red paprika, salt and pepper plus I add a clove of garlic chopped, just for a kick. You cook it untill peppers are soft, and add some beeten whole eggs and scramble it all together. Best with fresh Hungarian bread. This was the basic of leccso. You can also add sausages or bacon.... anything you like😊
I am Hungarian and I cook all of the Hungarian foods.
@@palomaforte Thanks for updating me. I’ll try it one day.

The fact that so many english people comes to this country where I was born and live. Hungary deserves better attention and respect.

Hello my lovely friend

Poland and Hungary. 2 countries with crappy cuisines and population who are gastarbeiters in western europe lmao
I’m curious what Gastarbeiter means, I don’t understand German. Can anyone translate the German to English? By the way, it’s rude to post derogatory comments about any ethnicity or culture. Smh
Thank you for the kind words about our city and popular foods. Special kudo for pronouncing Budapest, as we do: "Buda-pesht". Well done!
I love the pure joy and delight in his eyes every time he tries something.

Come, we welcome you! :)
I think Adam has a really chilled aura, I really enjoyed watching him giving you a tour. He could really show Mark the "good stuff" in Hungary. :)
but can he show me coke
Daniel 197 not really that sort of vibe in Budapest
Somebody said in another comment that Adam doesn't seem to enjoy the food. I disagree, I watched his reactions, and I think he chose most of the places they went BECAUSE he enjoys the food. Some people can't make sense of a guy who is chill and not particularly expressive. Adam may well just be an introverted guy who was not looking to steal the show. He seems like a cool dude, I would spend a day with him stuffing my face. 😂
He seemed really annoyed by Mark 😂
I think he did a horrible job and could barely smile about his own county's food. Bad representative of his country.
The streets are so clean. I don't see homeless people. A beautiful place.
Only the city center is clean, the homeless have been chased away!
19:59 Hungarian guy tries the dish.
Reaction - That's pretty good.
Mark's reaction - Pretty good? This is absolutely sublime!
Love Hungary and Hungarian food! Please take a trip to Poland, Mark!
Polish sausages even outside of Poland are chosen over cheap and overpriced hot dogs, lol
the way he eats and he enjoy the hungarian cuisine is just so adorable
i love hungary. greetings from czech republic.
I love the way you present the food in every country , always smiley face and positive Mood....You are the best!!
LOVE BUDAPEST FROM INDONESIA
Greetings from hungary

Beautiful country. Beautiful people. Wonderful food! Thanks Mark!
That is the cleanest most organized Market I have ever seen. I love Hungarian food.
I'm Hungarian.
@@Gomba13 That explains my magnificently round figure ... LOL :-)

I visited Budapest in April 2019. I want to visit it again. I loved that big market you visited!
My friend in school was from Hungary and her mom made the best sandwiches ever! She made a sandwich spread which I have never forgotten and never saw again. I think it had cheese, paprika and relish and the consistency of a spread on crusty bread. My mom tried so hard to duplicate it because I wouldn't shut up about it 😂 We ended up eating pimento cheese which was nice but not the same
it's called körözött. Recipes are online. Quality of cottage cheese is key. Enjoy :)
Want to see more of Ying and MIcah! Ying laughing at Mark for being so full, love it!
I remember visiting my friend last year and had the opportunity to try out those hungarian food. I am really glad she introduced them to me as those were just as good as you mentioned!

Such a beautiful city. Fantastic food. My late Mother was Hungarian by birth.. 🌳💚🌳

Also hungarians die earlier cause of unhealthy Food and palinka!
Mark Weins is the BEST FOOD traveler ever !! He is living my dream life ❤❤ plus I love & respect how his wife and son tag along for it all. The world could learn so much from his acceptance of other cultures.
He is the best. Until he said "stay home" in Thailand...and sat separated from his wife he kisses every day...really logical. Obey the system no matter what. No matter how stupid the system is.
I am living the dream life too, modeled after his example :)

“The beet flavor comes through beautifully, as well as adding a gorgeous, eye-popping visual to the dish. Guests are delighted when presented with a dish that takes them by surprise - the ingredients are not as they seem.”
Budapest is hands-down one of my favorite cities. Good food and inexpensive.
Innexpensive?? Really??? it was crazy expensive
@@chrisfunx7968 I can only speak on my experience. I've been there twice and had some really good food that was not expensive. BP BarBQ is one place that I really liked. There are others but that restaurant has good food.
Glad you returned home with good memories but if you try the same foods outside the capital, you'll be surprised by the much lower, real price of things.
Eat outside Budapest. Everything is half or third price, and even tastes better 😁

Why do you poles love us so much????
I'm a simple Hungarian I see a Polish comment, I press like !
Oh you guys are so cute! I love the love! But yeah please explain to an outsider, why do Poles love Hungary?
This originated from our history. We have many common kings and queens. We fought together many times. And yes, the nazi ally Hungary rejected to attack Poland in WW2
Out of the many places I've been to in Europe I did not find the Hungarian food that great, and apparently you didn't either because all you're talkin about are the poles loving the Hungarian.
It’s one of my dreams to visit Budapest and see the land of my paternal heritage. I love cooking my Hungarian dishes but would be out of my mind to try authentic cuisine! Thank you for a great video! 😍
The happiness on MY face while watching Mark's videos is priceless. Mark calms me and puts me in a better mindset than my therapist 😊

Örömmel látom, hogy tetszenek neked a magyar ételek. A piros "fűszer" paprika, szinte minden ételben elegedhetetlen nálunk.
Imádjuk a színét, és az ízét. További kellemes ízélményeket kívánok!
Nem hinném, hogy olvas kommenteket, de ha igen nem hinném hogy lefordítózza a magyarokat, de nem kötekedésből:)

If u want good gulash, Come to Bratislava.
Mark, you are the only one who pronounced "Budapest" correctly. Thank you. :-)
Kathy Refalo I, too, pronounce it correctly...
Correct is what the official name in the language you are speaking is, often different from the local name in the local language.
Otherwise basically everyone would be pronouncing all names of everything in the world "wrong" just because its different in the local language.
Like Berlin, Paris, Moscow, Bavaria, Prague, ...
Hungarians still appreciate it if you say it with "sh". Can't change that ;)
@@ferrum7625 yeah, Like slovaks say,

Amazing video! I love Budapest. I have been there last March. I do agree with you about the food. It’s deliciously awesome!!! 💚❤️
Just FYI to everyone, the chimney cake is about 300 forints/$1 USD outside that store. That has got to be the most expensive place in Budapest. I hope it was amazing because the ones you can get for about 300 forints are very good.
Yeah they seem to be going to the most expensive places...
I have been to Budapest five times. That great market and its food are truly amazing.
