It was when I finally got both and was able to pair them together like this, with the Keystep 37 on the side, that I realized I wanted something more self-contained instead and decided to go with the MPC One. I do occasionally look back at the creative sources that these Digi* boxes provide though. But I can't say I miss messing with limited step sequencers and a myriad of cables.
@@elek-trick I mean that the sequencer is limited for someone wanting to create full songs (unless you're making techno, basically). They're still incredibly fun and inspiring devices though, but the MPC is vastly more suitable as a song creation box, in my opinion.
Anyone - can I assume it would be easy enough to Midi up the Digitone with Cakewalk BandLab so that I can hit play on Cakewalk and have it start playing the Digitone?
I unfortunately haven't got a Digitone yet but I've got a Digitakt and a Model:Cycles so could I plug those 2 together like you've done with your Digis and if so, how? I've tried over and over to no avail. Should I use the Digitakt as the master since there is no inputs on the Model:Cycles or should I just plug them both into my audio interface and only care about the Midi connection? I paired the Model:Cycles and the Model:Samples together in no time, easy peasy but for some reason, pairing the Model:Cycles and the Digitakt is another story.
Yeah the DN´s Arpeggiator settings are saved with the Sound... Might be confusing but I find it great as you can save lots of different Arp patterns (within their Sounds) that way. If you wanted to keep an Arp pattern while changing the Sound: Copy the Arp Page, change Sound, paste the Arp Page ;)
Dude, your reviews and other music videos are great. BTW, what types of knobs are those? The Digitakt has d-shaft pots, so I’m not sure Chroma Caps work on them, so any other suggestions would be much appreciated!
I have this combo and can control Digitone over Digitakt. I can mute Digitone's tracks from Digitakt but pattern change is not transmitted to the Digitone, how did you manage it?
Great video LK! how about a video showcasing the digitone's external FX processing on hardware synths like microfreak or juno, then applying Digitakt's compressor on DN's incoming audio to tame things out when DT drums come into the mix. That part can get lost to me as to what is actually going on. My day was great and hope the next time you read this, you have a great day too! Continue tweaking the camera angles please :)
Hi mate how do record these two , I record both into mixer onto sd card , then put sd card in computer and it’s lost panning ,stereo width etc all sound down the middle don’t no what to do thanks.
Yeah this combo is more than enough, I can tell as I am struggling with finishing a track using OT, DT, DN and A4, you can easily get lost in what you are doing.
Great video! I have both of these and they are a dream together with a great workflow. I hope to add the Microcosm one day too. Please do more videos like this of these 2. I need to learn how to use the keystep37 better too.
Kind of off point but have you thought about midi syncing the sp 404 to the digikat to sequence the 404mk2. Actually just purchased a deluge to become the main brains of my set up. So I have deluge as the master clock to the sp.404 and then triggering 404 from the deluge. Running a moog grandma into the audio in of 404 soni can resemble basslines then even cut and sequence them in deluge. The set up is so strong and eliminates the biggest gripes I have with the 404. The pattern sequencer. Was thinking you could achieve something very similar with digitakt. This would allow you to edit the sequence of 404 with digitakt and then also use the 404 effects cause all sound from 404. You could then use the audio in to record the sounds of digitakt into the sp as a sequence and do effects and what not. Thought you might be curious to give it a shot
This beat has been heard with the Elektrons a million times before. Im thinking youd be better off trying polyrythms or breaking away from repeat and rinse stuff.
@@LiamKillen You can only shine crap so many times. Head over to Elektronauts. Theres a million uploads with the Elektrons and everybody saying the same thing as you. As i said rinse and repeat.
I swear sometimes I feel like our brains are in tune. I LITERALLY just thought how cool it would be to own both of these so they could complement each other, and lo and behold, theres now a comprehensive video showcasing exactly that. Entertaining as always :)
Actually you’re the one who is pronouncing it incorrectly - it’s pronounced with a hard G. Learnt that from Bo Beats a while back. Either way, who cares.

Nothing’s perfect- unfortunately
If you find Elektron's sequencer limited, it was time for a change. There is so much fun to have before reaching the limits...

...anyone? I'd be interested in knowing too
Thanks for the suggestion re. the keystep 37 chord mode and the Digitone arp , will definitely use it
I got some more in the works about the Keystep 37. Absolutely love that thing
Do u find the strum mode doesn’t get properly recorded. I have the keystep - dt - dn and when i try to strum the chords they sound messed up.
If you feed the digitone into the takt you can make use of the compressor
This too!!
didnt know that, thanks
Great stuff as always! Love this combo for sure!
I’ll def be exploring more in the future.
Could you please tell us about the knobs on the Digitone? Are they silicon-covered (like chroma caps), or just plastic?
I’m not entirely sure but I got them from 3dwaves 😊
Very nice walkthrough, mate! I enjoyed the music a lot!
Thx ihor!
where do i get this knobs
3dwaves (on insta)
took the dive and got this combo shipping in today (the GAS is real). big blessings for making these videos.
Woahhhh biiiiig! Exciting man have fun!
Hey Liam. Not sure if any asked this yet but can I get a link for those custom yellow knobs you put on your Digitakt. It’s fire.
I got them from 3D waves (on insta).
Can't seem to find that bass tone on my Takt, do you know the name of it? Thanks for the vid, btw, good stuff.
I think it’s called deep

You can do it via 5 pin midi with an adaptor and yeah I’d choose the takt as master personally 😊
Dude, you read my mind...I was just watching both of these in action recently, but individually, on separate channels. Thank you!
It all comes full circle! 😊 Thanks for being here

It has something to do with system settings- I won’t be in front of my Digitone/digitakt for a bit but I suggest hitting up elektronauts forum!

Wow what a great suggestion! I’ll have to do some homework on this one but thanks for the suggestion!

Digitone through cosm is insane if you haven't tried that.....
I indeed have: ruclips.net/video/ChqxgvixCzM/видео.html
Hi mate how do record these two , I record both into mixer onto sd card , then put sd card in computer and it’s lost panning ,stereo width etc all sound down the middle don’t no what to do thanks.
I do the same thing! I record into my Zoom h5
Does it record panning , lfo s and fx , mine doesn’t.
Dude, add an Octatrack in there for mixing and one shots and you have an ACE setup!!!!
The dream!
Yeah this combo is more than enough, I can tell as I am struggling with finishing a track using OT, DT, DN and A4, you can easily get lost in what you are doing.
I find it hard to fully finish a track on any of these combined DAWLESS set ups- always end up dumping into my DAW and dressing up from there.
@@LiamKillen Yes, you will still need Daw to master your tracks. Elektron is not good in FX imo.
i waited for a video like that! thx for the info!
How could export just like a song, working with digitone and digitakt at same time ?
Yeah you can do that using overbridge! 😊
@@LiamKillen I would appreciate any tutorial about that!
thx 😊
Well now you're going to have to add the Syntakt to the setup lol
Who needs the syntakt when ya got these two fkn things!!
Where do those encoder caps come from?

Love the Microcosm. Mosaic is your friend!
what are the stands you're using for the digi's?

What’s the name of that stock digitakt bass sound?
I think it’s called deep…or deep something or other. I use it on pretty much all my digitakt tracks now.
yeah just the sound of these buttons got those to the “buy next” list
😏
That demo track in the beginning 😭🔥🔥
Thanks CLK! 😊
thanks for taking us into the lab!

That’s a great idea- I haven’t tried it yet! There are some bugs sequencing with the mk2 though

@@LiamKillen lmao that’s hilarious! Great minds I suppose! Also slightly off topic but do you have any interest in getting/covering the Dirtywave M8?
