One of the best synth demos I've ever seen. Straight into the sounds, not talking for a half hour then playing just a couple of sounds, and showing off way more functions than the basic ones. Well done, sir. I wish you did demos for all synth manufacturers.
Yes, that's right -- not talking too much, but not talking too little either. Some videos play some beautiful stuff but don't explain what they're doing.
Plus he actually plays some decent tunes on the Synth, there's been so many videos I've seen where the host taps a few keys and plays around with the filters and the envelope, but doesn't actually play anything worth listening to.
its so annoying that this is common place in the synth community. guitar and bass players are almost always playing it in the demos but in the synth demos they talk about it and play random keys -_-
This is seriously the best review/demo I've ever seen. You convey your enthusiasm with the product so well! Love the laughing and child-like excitement. Makes me want to buy the synth.
I own both the Mini and Micro and on balance, I prefer the Micro. The little patch bay works a treat, and the sequencer is much needed on the Mini. The Sub Osc has a way better sound on the Micro (despite being set to one waveform) and the whole thing is way wilder and dirtier. So if you have the choice, I'd go Micro. But look at the demos and decide for yourself (but ignore them and buy the Micro).
Man, Alex always shakes dem dope sounds out the sleeve. This is far better then anything i heard from other Minibrute or Minibrute 2 demos. Weird and awesome.
First, great review. I just got the microbrute today. I've been playing synth's for a long time. At first, I was like.. do I want an monophonic synth? And I decided to go for it because it reminded me of all those good analog synth that I start out playing many years ago. This thing is AWESOME, while it is mono using it's own sounds, when plugged into a DAW using say FL Studio, all the virtual soft synths are polyphonic. I recorded the sequencer directly into FL Studio, and I could not tell that the sequence was a recording. The "tone" that you can get from the settings.. to me.. seem endless. This is a fantastic synth!
I bought this from Sweetwater music online for about $239, if I recall correctly. Absolutely great machine. Comes with an actual, useful, printed manual. Be prepared to spend many hours figuring out what it can do. Way cool and amazing. A true bargain and classic machine. Very solid construction.
Thank you so much, this is one of the most valuable reviews and demos I've seen of synth like this. I think you've just made me put off my purchase of a Mininova or a MicroKorg. I don't know that I'll get a lot more out of this, but I think I'll *learn* a lot more from this. Thanks again!
Finally a very capable and professional review exploring the real power of gear without f....around and wasting breath, shows that analog modelling is still going strong.
Great to see a demo where you are playing bass sounds, most synth demos are done with someone playing notes an octave or 2 more than i would like. I sit there shouting at the computer "PLAY IT LOWER" Thanks
it's funny I was never really a fan of Arturia's software but their hardware synths I really like the sound of, and great to see a step sequencer on a modern synth
This is great! Playing this on a PC does not do it justice. I am watching this on an apple TV box with sound going to a high quality 2.1 HiFi system now, and it is mind blowing how powerful the sound is from this small unit.
I’ve had mine for going on 4 or 5 years now , since then I’ve bought a Moog Sub 25, a Behringer Poly D and a Korg Prologue 16 and the Microbrute still holds its own next to them, it sounds fat and warm and use it in recordings with my other analog synths. I have no plans on selling mine, I could be wrong but I feel like it’s only going to increase in value down the line.
I love your enthusiasm for this keyboard. I was playing with a Minibrute in a store yesterday and wasn't hugely impressed. But I just might have to get one of these.
Just one sequence at any one time, but you can flip between them - in the 'MicroBrute Connection' software you can decide if the sequence changes immediately, or wait till the end of the pattern before moving onto the next one.
The MicroBrute still holds up well. Remember folks he's not using any effects here. Buy the time you stick on a delay, a chorus or a spacey reverb the little fella singlehandley climbs Mt. Olympus. It's a wonderful thing and I don't think I could bear to part with mine
@Sam Field (Can't reply directly) - You can plug it into a micro cube and it'll work. It doesn't take batteries, you'll need a mains supply for it to work I'm afraid!
So hypothetically, I would be able to busk with an analogue synth without a power source, other than a battery powered amp like a micro cube for example?
+SourceDistributionTV My Anker Astro Pro2 battery has a 1.5A 12V output. The back of the micro is labelled 12V 1A. That should work and it's a 20AH battery, far more efficient than going DC-AC-DC.
Great demo. I bought a MicroBrute two weeks ago and I'm blown away by what you get for the money. This is a fantastic little analog synth and the sequencer is super easy to use.
This video kickstarted my now never ending synth hobby, currently own two now(Roland Sh-101 GAIA and a Behringer Neutron) because I got recommended this video a year ago now.
One of the best synth demo's I've ever seen. Camera framing, sound, no screwin' around, everything tip top. I believe I like this better then the minibrute. If they'd just stretch out those dials + rack it now......
My microbrute arrived two days ago. Thanks for this demo, gives me a flavour of what to expect and some ideas of how to get the best out of it. Great stuff, cheers!
yeah, it has to be said, best demo i have seen on a synth.. i am gonna buy this little fella and credit is due to this vid. cheers, great video, great company!
OMG you have extremely low audio perception or are using bad speakers, there is massive differences in filtering of even single osc and what you link to in time has no character of a 303 at all, not even remotely close.. go listen to Nature Bug - Kismorte and get to 2:00 into it. Im starting to think people's audio perception varies as much as a color blind person compared to someone who can see the most colors.
I dont know if youll read this, but ive been saving up for a synthesizer forever and ive set my mind on this one, im not familiar at all with them, do you need to hook them up to a speaker with an AUX chord? what is required for me to have to be able to play it? thanks :)
Awesome, as soon as the local music shop opens I'm racing down there to get one. Also love the way you start the vid with "Hello" and then straight into the Brutal sounds!
I'm looking into getting my first synth at the moment. Was considering getting a midi controller and relying on my computer, but going the analogue route just seems more fun and cool. This video is making me quite keen on this synth. I'm gonna go into Rock shop tomorrow and ask to play on one :). Thanks for the vid!
You could drive your neighbors absolutely nuts in 2 minutes or less with that thing....well done, and it should also be pointed out that the control panel is offering "function titles" such as Ultrasaw, Metalizer and Brute Factor that need to be integrated (good word) into everyday conversations regardless of what the subject matter may be.
It's true the Microbrute is a beast for the price. Bought one after watching this and was very pleased with how easy it was to get cool sounds right away. Made these 2 clips very quickly not much other than the brute (DAW and a delay pedal) soundcloud.com/ramdailymusic/slowkaboom soundcloud.com/ramdailymusic/stratospherus
The Microbrute is worth it because it's at a really great price point for the sounds you are getting. Analog synths usually sound a lot warmer. On the other hand they do have to warm up and tuning can be an issue - but definitely worth it if you can afford.
No question, I am buying this. Already a proud minibrute abuser. This will be the perfect extension. It's worth the sequencer alone but the fact that I can CV my minbrute to this means that I'll be able to fatten my already amazing sound. I love you Arturia, please make a 100% analog polysynth next!
Sonicstate is run by psychopaths. Fuck them.
This synth + delay pedal + fuzz pedal + octav pedal + chorus pedal =
a world of awesomeness
A world of pain
Sounds like a lot of routing 😅 Thank God for DAWs especially ableton 🤣
This is not only a great demonstration of the microbrute, but very entertaining and musical as well. What a fun instrument.
"Hello"
*a billion sounds blast out of my speakers*
well hello there.
General Microbrutey! You are a noisey one.
Samuel Taylor ah yes, the sw fan
lol
Learned more about synthesis from this one video than I have in my months of research. Thank you so much!
Easily one of the best synth demos I've viewed-clear explanations, no shtick. Well done!
Plus he actually plays some decent tunes on the Synth, there's been so many videos I've seen where the host taps a few keys and plays around with the filters and the envelope, but doesn't actually play anything worth listening to.
ProgrammerInProgress Excellent point! There's nothing worse than hearing a demo consists of random key presses and/or non-existent scales. Cheers!
its so annoying that this is common place in the synth community. guitar and bass players are almost always playing it in the demos but in the synth demos they talk about it and play random keys -_-
I need more reviews like this. Passion and laughter really helps the video vs stone faced robot minions. I give it a ten.
Yeah, it's really great review. Can't wait till they do the new MicroFreak - ruclips.net/video/cOTNlj-11_c/видео.html
This is seriously the best review/demo I've ever seen. You convey your enthusiasm with the product so well! Love the laughing and child-like excitement. Makes me want to buy the synth.
Definitely one of the better MicroBrute demo's I've seen. Thanks, man!
Am I the only one who took a hundred screen shots for the patches he was playing!!!!
hey i never thought of that, thanks
Do you guys know the name of the demo guy? Thanks!
am i the only one that didn't like the sounds he made at all lol

Now THAT is what I call a demo. You have answered questions I didn't even know I wanted answers to until now.

Man, Alex always shakes dem dope sounds out the sleeve. This is far better then anything i heard from other Minibrute or Minibrute 2 demos. Weird and awesome.
I love how short he speaks before showing any sounds. Just "Hello!" and then shows so many beautiful noises
First, great review. I just got the microbrute today. I've been playing synth's for a long time. At first, I was like.. do I want an monophonic synth? I have a question, can a drumkit connect to this synthesizer?? So u can hear the drums alongside the synth beat to create a song??
I bought this from Sweetwater music online for about $239, if I recall correctly.
Absolutely great machine. Comes with an actual, useful, printed manual. Be prepared to spend many hours figuring out what it can do. Way cool and amazing. A true bargain and classic machine. Very solid construction.
Great demo man :D it's rare to see it explored so much
Thanks dude, this was a lot of fun to make.
SourceDistributionTV Bought it! No regrets at all hey : D
Simply the most energetic, fun, and exploratory review of this wee synth!
This is the best demo I've ever watched I will watch this 1000 times.
You may have sold me on this thing!

Hi Robert,
Did you end up getting hte microkorg or the microbrute?
Finally a very capable and professional review exploring the real power of gear without f....around and wasting breath, shows that analog modelling is still going strong.
kids should be given a microbrute instead of an xbox or ps4..hours of fun!
That's what Iam thinking too.
Bhodisatvas Well I am a kid and I started with a Launchkey mini and launchpad no ps no xbox
You need a computer for that!
An xbox is years of fun tho just saying.
Why not both
Great to see a demo where you are playing bass sounds, most synth demos are done with someone playing notes an octave or 2 more than i would like.
I sit there shouting at the computer "PLAY IT LOWER"

hey could you let me know how much a set up like this would cost
nailed it with this demo, much praise! i've just grabbed one and it plays super nice with the modular - great modern classic synth!
This demo is awesome. The only demo that really makes you wanna buy this synth. Great job.

it's funny I was never really a fan of Arturia's software but their hardware synths I really like the sound of, and great to see a step sequencer on a modern synth
Very nice review showing the sonic capabilities of this tiny monster.
me want :-) I can't afford one yet but it's a good price for analogue, edit: bought one in the end, and it's as good as I'd hoped.
Thanks for the vid, I'm definitely considering buying one of these.
This is great! Playing this on a PC does not do it justice. I am watching this on an apple TV box with sound going to a high quality 2.1 HiFi system now, and it is mind blowing how powerful the sound is from this small unit.
Haha! Apologies to your neighbours...
This is an excellent Demo dude! You've made it great fun to watch, unlike many RUclips demos. Well done sir!
Excellent video, guys. I bought the Minibrute off of you guys last year and suddenly I think it needs a brother!
Your ability to play the synthesizer while editing its parameters is stellar. Very inspiring!
I thought that was a requirement for synths
Man u made me buy this monster, thanks a lot!! the best review that i've seen of this synth.
Just one sequence at any one time, but you can flip between them - in the 'MicroBrute Connection' software you can decide if the sequence changes immediately, or wait till the end of the pattern before moving onto the next one.
That laugh at 7:10 that sounds like me 20 minutes after I opened the box and started playing with the thing.
That fm-y "Sega villain" sound though...
J Chot Ha! I should have bitcrushed it
***** Cheap MIDI keyboard? I would look at the Alesis Q25. I use it with my VOlca Keys and Volca Bass.
Hi Julio - it works as a little USB keyboard, and for sending MIDI with its pitch and mod wheels, but it doesn't send MIDI data from the knobs!

I've one of these awesome little machines and your video has opened it up. Best demo by far!
The MicroBrute still holds up well. Remember folks he's not using any effects here. Buy the time you stick on a delay, a chorus or a spacey reverb the little fella singlehandley climbs Mt. Olympus.

Exactly that - you can sweep it by hand or apply the LFO to it. Or you can use the ADSR to control it (which you can't do on MiniBrute)
