    Somehow the option "When reordering tracks via drag and drop, hold shift key to control folder creation" prevented the creation of new tracks outside of folders, when the last tracks were part of a folder. Deselecting the option, hitting apply and (optional) selecting / applying it again resulted in the behaviour you've described. Thanks for the in-depth version 7 vids, really worthwhile.

    The Feedback feature is not complete, it needs to allow you to set a delay time or buffer size, because otherwise you get an unpredictable buffer dependent feedback timing, you will be stuck with 64 or 256 samples feedback delay, or whatever, and there's no way to fix any phase or chorusing problems with it. But if they implement a feedback delay time, then it can subtract the buffer size automatically so you can get exact tempo perfect timing with feedback, or you could set feedback to "minimum" and it should also tell you how many samples delay the feedback currently is.

    • @JayRuetschi
      @JayRuetschi 8 месяцев назад

      Until that’s in reaper you could add in something like Eventide Precision Time Align or Delay to the container and handle that.

    It looks like the Reaper DAW is getting a lot better then ever. Not only with the bug fixes but with newer features that Reaper 6 did not have.
    I'm planning on getting a second DAW. Possibly Reaper 7 or Bitwig Studio Essentials. Along with Mixcraft 10 Pro Studio, Which is a excellent DAW & the PC version of GarageBand from Mac.

    I cannot use the video capabilities right now, but I'm building a brand-new system who does. I'm probably going to watch one of your tutorials when the system is ready, at this time my computer does a great job with mixing and mastering, even with 100+ tracks (what's in a name) in the past it was 24 or at max 48 tracks with a slave. Now I see sometimes 200 tracks appearing to mix. Annoying thing. Thanks for the updates, I'm using already the comp lanes to get rid of that many multichannels, thanks again. Always interesting info you give, I'm not always react to your video's but resourceful info.

    00:44 I still have activated the option to press SHIFT to make it folder. However I recognize that the solution of these big icons, is a great help do not fall in confusion.
    02:10 it's ok to hide all tracks into a folder, but it seems there is no way to recogn at glance that "that's a folder"
    04:35 initially I disabled them. but then having watched a Kenny's video, i saw there is an option to make icons blinking. Which is more close to my way to work (inherited from Studio Hardware of the 80s and 90s) and it's not distracting and it makes more sense to me. Then I reactivated the animated icons
    08:27 YEAHHH that's damn useful! how many times it occurred :-D but they told me it was always on F3 in windows. I never got it. I think it's because in the beginning with Reaper, I have made a lot of things to understand it, and I thing I have "un-setup" the default config.

    One odd thing I noticed they updated was how resizing works in the midi editor. Before, if I zoomed out and could see past the edges of the piano roll, the screen would snap to the beginning of the item I was in. Super annoying but now I can zoom out and the midi item stays in place. Really nice odd change.

    Hide lane buttons helps with situations where you have only certain lanes playing that you want to 'lock' and not accidentally change their play state.

    Thank you for this! Very helpful, esp wrt Container Feedback loops. Question - do you or anyone else have a list of all the 'special' markers that Reaper uses? (ie - '=START', '=END', and now, it seems, '=REF') ? I'd never heard of =REF, and =START and =END I only stumbled upon via a video tutorial. It doesn't seem to be documented....

    • @TheREAPERBlog

    I'm fairly new to Reaper. I started running it on a PC and everything ran great. Now, I run it to a Mac and even upgraded to Reaper V7.03 and have problems getting signal for my analog inputs (level meter does not move and recorded audio is silent/empty). Could anybody point me in the right direction?
    I did some troubleshooting as follows:
    - cable connections are good
    - correct audio device is selected in preferences/audio/device
    - the track is armed
    - the correct input is selected
    - On my audio interface loop-back mixer, I can see the signal meter moving for both inputs
    - Volume levels are high enough on the inputs to capture signal
    Am I missing anything? Please help!

    I have just switched back to Reaper. Have not used it properly for about 2 years.
    There seems to be a bug when dragging & dropping samples to VST samplers on a Mac M2. Bit disappointed that this is not working as expected.
    Works fine in other DAWs so it must be a Reaper bug. I have tried the Opt-Command drag but no luck.
    Anyone else having this issue on a Mac. I'm on Ventura 13.5.2 and Reaper 7.05
    This is a really important part of my workflow, so would really appreciate some help on this.

    • @brentjeanneret
      @brentjeanneret 8 месяцев назад

      @@Windiguana Loopmidi is my goto for Windows, but there are a number of cases where I have been very keen on getting an internal loopback. For example, when recording midi that requires a lot of transposition (like Tubas and then picolos, etc.) from a shorter KB. I record arm a source track to do the desired transposition then feedback (formerly via Loopback Midi) into the symphonic instrument tracks and I am able to record the midi as it's properly input to the VST, and I don't have to deal with recording the transposition utility track I created. It's just easier to deal with this way.

    • @Windiguana
      @Windiguana 8 месяцев назад

      @@brentjeanneret it's not nearly as elegant of a solution as the Mac folks have for sure. I've had my issues getting everything to work the way I need it to. Annoying stuff like one particular program tending to steal midi devices from other ones, so having to open software in a specific order (not reaper a visualizer program that accepts midi), just stupid stuff like that, for all I know some of it could be user error, but I have an inkling that that visualizer program is to blame because it will steal actual devices away like my synth, not just the virtual midi ports.

    • @lince4824
      @lince4824 8 месяцев назад

       @LeviMiah thank you very much, I know that feature, but it just doesn't fit well when I try to use thin faders on one screen set and just one wide fader on a different screen set. I tried with layouts, themes and so on, but I just couldn't make it, so I ended up purchasing Logic "against my will" to use Reaper. I paid much more for Reaper and it is great it also runs in Linux for example, but I cannot setup a simple beginner's user interface like I do in Logic. I ended up with loads of Reaper bugs when Mute and Solo buttons didn't work properly, or they worked on a different track, and it was a mess over another mess with no end to clicking and setting options here and there, never-ending, so I surrendered to the rotten apples. I thought I could make Reaper my own, but I tried for months and I couldn't make it my own. It's not that I want it to look pretty, nor additional instruments or features, and I'm pretty sure you can do amazing things in Reaper as I did for months while testing, but I prefer daily duty without having to click and re-click everywhere once and again or spending hours or days trying to figure something. I paid for it, I cannot use it, I lost months of learning Reaper to end up finding it's much better to do a lot of clicks and figure out something for a little special task than for daily tasks. I appreciate you tried to help anyway, but Reaper is not for me and I don't expect its customer base improving in numbers this way, although may be they can make it profitable some other way. If I used Linux I would probably use Reaper, but not in Windows or Mac where I can work with either Logic or Ableton Live. I promise I tried hard anyway. Thanks@@LeviMiah
