    When I graduated college, I had like 80Kish in student loan debt, my minimum monthly payments were a little over 800 a month
    Everything you mentioned in terms of budgeting is what I learned when I had that large bill - no shopping, eating out and buying coffee less, pausing a gym membership (or in my case I joined planet fitness since it was only 10 a month)
    It makes a huge difference! Best of luck for your future budgeting and congrats on the house

    I caught myself spending a lot of money on books when I got into reading as well... and then I got a library card and use Overdrive/Libby for my kindle. It is SO SO easy! Sometimes I have to wait a little for more popular books, but there is always something to read (plus, it teaches me to have patience and realize that I am reading a book because I genuinely want to read it and not because 'that's the book that everyone's reading right now')! Highly recommend! Honestly, I regret not doing it sooner.

    Girl. I don't mean to sound like a troll (but I know I will) because I do really like you and watching your videos -- but this is not budgeting lolz. You will never spend less money if you track everything AFTER you spend it. Why don't you try giving yourself an actual monthly budget and see how that goes? Budgeting is telling your money where to go, NOT restricting yourself. But if you spend all month and then go back and see what you've spent, you don't know that you've already hit an insane amount of money in the eating out category.
    I don't know I just have watched your budgeting videos since you started doing them and literally every month you say you spent more than last month and you are going to fix it. You are budgeting backwards and that's why it's not getting better.
    K, LOVE YOU MEAN IT!

    • @NatalieBarbu
      @NatalieBarbu  Год назад +4

      Haha not a troll. This is good advice and after this video I actually started doing that. I haven’t spent more than the last month every month, but certainly some months I have! I’m spending waaaaaay less this month than last so you’ll be proud. 🥹 I always mention that I call it budget with me because I don’t know how else to call it but I acknowledge I’m not writing out buckets with how much to spend in each category (until this month)

    Thanks for sharing! I definitely need to get back to writing my expenses down and budgeting myself it really makes a huge difference when you see where your money is going. I also just bought a house and spent a ton of money on getting it just the way I wanted quickly instead of taking my time so I definitely understand stopping the retail therapy.

    From Australia - one thing that is good is there’s no tipping or extra taxes. The price you see is the price you pay. Definitely try a few breakfasts out. I might be biased but our coffee is amazing

    nah those Aussie flights are nuts!! Im an Australian fan of yours and have been for years!! before covid I flew Sydney to nyc for $1200 return, so those prices are definitely post covid inflation!! When you're in Sydney avoid staying in the major hotel chains they aren't as good as other places in the world and are super expensive so airbnb in parts of the eastern suburbs would be so nice, close to the beaches and a 10min uber to the city!! Sydney is way more expensive than Melbourne or cairns so you will be more likely to keep a budget in Melbourne and cairns than Sydney haha!! Hope I run into you when you're in town!

  • @jacintagiselle

    Oh no! That’s so expensive to come to Australia. It’s always best to buy your international flights as return not one way as you only have to pay a lot of the taxes once instead of twice!

Don’t get me wrong I love owning it’s a huge privilege, but you don’t realize how much you’re gonna have to spend year to year especially with inflation.
