- Hey vinyl crew, this week is a delicate matter. Jay REALLY doesn't want to call these hair metal bands. So don't do it. We're serious, DO NOT do it. Definitely do NOT go down to the comments and say these are hair metal bands because they AREN'T. Thanks in advance.

Another huge lp was Whitesnake self titled 1987 album...such a big album when it came out
Absolutely! RIP John Sykes.
The groups that stand out as the quintessential hard rock groups of that era would be Cinderella, Poison, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard.
But it is hard to pass on G’n R, Skid Row and Van Hagar. That’s a tough list.
I feel like Leppard makes the list up to Pyromania.
Van Halen never really fit into this group of bands for me. They are in their own category with either singer.
Bon Jovi was a fantastic band from this era, but they were just a tad more pop, imo.
Love the list. I think I would trade out LA Guns for Ratt.
Rat is a great choice!
While Cinderella are a great bluesy rock band, they played to the hair metal/band crowd. Saw em live in the 80's...
I was lucky enough to see them live in the 80s two times.; they were fantastic!
if we're talkin' hair metal, (not counting pre-hair metal LA bands Quiet Riot, Y&T and Van Halen) Los Angeles was the place, with Motley Crue, Dokken, Poison, Ratt, WASP, Great White, Guns n Roses, LA Guns, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, Stryper, Bulletboys, Slaughter, Lizzy Borden, Bang Tango, Pretty Boy Floyd and Mr Big (and probably 100 more)... but there was also the east coast hair metal, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Kix, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, White Lion, Britny Fox, Steelheart & Danger Danger among others. not to mention your northern Californians like Tesla, midwesterners like Tora Tora, Texans like Dangerous Toys and Swedes like Shotgun Messiah
All great bands! It was a golden age for sure!
Seriously, just because you don't like the term doesn't mean it doesn't apply--Cinderella--seriously????
I think the term undermines their talent.
@@vinylventures5943 Your problem is you have a negative association with a term that describes the band accurately. They were most definitely 100% a hair metal band, dressed in near drag, heavy makeup, big girly hair, and they went as far as calling themselves "Cinderella"---that's like people being surprised Freddie Mercury was gay after naming his band "Queen"....
...seriously.
