I have to agree with the other sentiments, Tom. I remember watching your LEGO Titanic and Lusitania videos when I was 7, and they inspired me to make my own LEGO stop motion animations and furthered my interest in ships. It’s hard to believe that was so long ago but I’m grateful to see you still in this field of study.

I watched the Lusitania video a bunch too, I liked the concept of a survivor of Titanic being on another ship while it sank, which led me to the real story of Violet Jessop who wasn't on Lusitania, but did survive the Britannic.

Fun fact about the Fitz: she was longer than the place she went down in was deep. It's likely that her bow was forced down by waves, hit the bottom, broke apart at the surface, and sank like that. She lost a lot of length when she snapped as well. I personally think it was a combination of hull damage and rogue waves that did her in. She was 23 years old when she went down and I think she was in need of dry dock repairs around that time.
As for ship gender, they're referred to as female no matter what the name is. The German Navy, however, refers to their ships as males. It's just a tradition that seems to be fading just a little bit.

Like the sub Kursk, to think these ships were longer than the the water they sank in was deep. We don't usually get a visual example of how deep or shallow the sea is but the lengths of these vessels show that, make it seem not that much. Tragic, all of them tragic.

And now that I'm getting ready to retire, I'm looking forward after 30 some years in getting back into building model kits. I might even go after that big Trumpeter Titanic model.. Actually had a big Titanic kit for Christmas one year but I was way too young to do anything with it but sloppily glue it together then take it to our little plastic swimming pool and play hit the Ice Berg

"now we have a plethora of plates to place in place...That sentence made sense you know" hahahahaha that gave me a good laugh. I had absolutely no idea that companies were allowed to take pieces of Lego, build their own kits, and then sell them. I'm sure they have agreements and contracts and all that jazz, but that is SO cool! I'm only 13 minutes in, I'm so stoked to see what the SS Edmund Fitzgerald looks like! when I was young my dad would play me the Edmund Fitzgerald song by Girdon Lightfoot all the time and tell me the story of what happened. I miss that. RIP dad, I love you. on a lighter note, this is a bad ass channel dude!

Apparently, they took your advice about the port and starboard shafts being the same color as the antifouling paint on the hull and fixed it. and they've even updated the model with a new hull design, boilers, and engine layout.

I've been following your channel since your Lego Titanic and Lusitania animation, I still remember watching them constantly and wishing I could make my own. You mentioned you were working on Lego Britannic, how far did you get with that? Just a general script or did you start animating before your other videos got taken down?

20:43 late 1990s there was a documentary series about sunken ships and one of the episodes we saw was about the edmunds fitzgerald. So it has been a popular topic in our household for over twenty years.
Also discovered Gordon Lightfoot via that documentary via his song at the end about the ship.
