I had a great time, so when I re-entered the COD Zombies corner of youtube I was surprised to learn that it was received poorly. Looking back at it now I see its flaws, the biggest of which is that Aether was concluded with multiple consecutive remakes instead of getting any new maps for it. Certain things like spawning in with specialist weapons and multiple self-revives made the game perhaps too forgiving/easy in comparison to previous entries. However I still think it's overall really good. I have felt this way for a long time. I genuinely believe IX has one of, if not the best map layout in zombies history. It would probably be a top 3 map of all time in my opinion if it was made for BO3. BO4 honestly smokes BO2 in every single category besides the core gameplay mechanics. A lot of people forgot how awful it was to be a zombies fan the first 5/6 months of BO2.

I’m glad you made this video because honestly, I’m only 18 years old, but the last cod I even really played was bo4 That was also the last call of duty before camera breaking movement became a thing. The multiplayer was sick. It was also the first game I’ve ever gotten diamond in. Wow, hella memories. Black ops four has always been good, people just make the mistake of comparing it to the giants (bo2, bo3, mw2, bo1) In reality comparison is a thief of joy, and it was a good game in my opinion
I've always had a soft spot for black ops 4. Its got really high highs and really low lows but I think for someone whos really invested and no lifes zombies it has one of the most complete experiences (in 2024). It has an engaging progression system, multiple modes for when you're in different moods, (some) great maps and a couple of pretty solid easter eggs. I've come to appreciate it quite a bit but its definitely not for casuals and obviously it doesn't beat classic zombies but if you're looking for a switch up or you prefer zombies with an objective in mind its a worthwhile experience. Also FUCK the nova crawlers.
Chaos story is actually good imo Aether story was alright but a completely mess and lost its way after bo2. I never understood the hate for bo4 i had a long brake after bo2 so i played bo4 and 3 at the same time most of the maps i enjoyed the most on bo3 were just reboots of old maps. Bo4 had better weapons and gave you more options. I hate when people say bo4 zombies is to easy yet have never once tried the gauntlets or anything but normal difficulty. Leveling up in 4 felt like you were actually achieving something by unlocking new guns and equipment, they also fixed all the gum issues with the elixirs. Bo2 will always be the best then 1 then 4 then 3 these are just my stoned thoughts at 2am so no one take it to seriously.
When I first played I was confused for a little bit but the more I figured it out and the more I got better the more I like it. Now it's one of my top three
Awesome video man. I very much enjoyed BO4 zombies and never quite understood the hate for it. Every big zombies RUclipsr throws so much shade at it and I don't think it's deserved. This is coming from someone whos first map was WaW Nacht 16 years ago (typing that just made me realize I'm getting old) and has played every map since. I LOVE the classic zombies gameplay, feel, aesthetics, and overall experience; I mean it's what a lot of my childhood friendships were built on, but I also welcome new zombies with open arms. People forget that without innovation, we would get the same thing every year and then they would be complaining about how the devs aren't doing enough. I am so excited for BO6, I think it will be an awesome addition to the list.
I started bo4 zombies over the past few months after only ever playing bo3 with friends I did dead of the night EE solo and then voyage of despair EE solo within the same week And honestly I really really enjoyed running voyage, it’s really tight but with good planning and good knowledge after a few hours of running it, it’s honestly a really fun map
I loved bo4 and now I view it as one of the greats. Been recently been playing blackout and last night i jumped into my first bo4 zombies game in years, matched up with other OGs and we made it to round 47 and I had tons of fun. The guns in bo4 are some of my favorites, and the perks were fun too, especially since I'm not used to the system anymore. I think people didn't like it because some of the perks aren't good and it was a huge change
I've never been the greatest at zombies and I've been around since waw mainly bo1 but I this game has a soft spot in my heart I'm not gunna lie. I feel like all the maps but blood of the dead are extremely atmospheric. May just be me.
Yes. The answer is yes. I have always loved Bo4. DOTN is my favorite zombies map of all time. The attention to detail is immaculate and the theme of the map is utterly perfect. I’ve also played since world at war. I just happen to enjoy more thematically rich maps with more depth.

Thanks and you are correct. Definitely a few editing mistakes that I noticed after uploading as well. Hopefully my next is a bit better and a bit smoother.
I am currently running through bo3 zombies Easter eggs and soon bo4 next, gotta say the vibes of bo4 are way better than some of the newer stuff but i just cant bring myself to like it anywhere near as much as i want to (except for blood of the dead), but it now only does feel better because of how warzone affected call of duty
I think it's more the story aspect people are upset with, or at least i am. They sacrificed the BO3 ending when Zombies was at an all time high for the sake of milking the franchise one more time (probably due to studio demands) but they didnt have the ressources to do it, many people left, there were budget cuts and they had to rush everything and this is how we ended up with a lackluster finale in an unfinished game. You know they wanted to do something else with the BotD plot twist that Nikolai is the key and the whole "great war" thing and we ended up getting nothing. Revelations should have been the end
@@SalVitroNY I semi agree, I think the real issue when it comes to zombies is how it gets released. Considering Waw-BO1 zombies was released without issue, it looks to me like what rung zombies out to dry was the idea that each map had to innovate on the lasts significantly because we’d only get 1 at a time and they were spaced out. The way zombies is sold to the consumer we deserve to have high expectations especially if the *main* reason you buy cod is for zombies. You can end up paying a good chunk of money for just a few maps, and that feels absolutely terrible if the devs seem like they don’t care, and I can see how after ~10 maps forcing the devs to reinvent the wheel each time eventually they dry out. Idk, I think part of it is the community always overreacting but I also think the community deserves to be critical with how slowly zombies content is fed to us. If you take multiple years to deliver something crappy, I mean, I’ll be upset if I wait an hour at a restaurant and the food sucks is all I have to say. Essentially, as always, the winner is the guys in charge squeezing out all the money from players while devs and players both suffer.
I think we were way too critical on this mode. I think the biggest issue was mainly that it was too easy and that they got rid of perks as we knew them and threw down generic "pick your perk" machines. Other than that, I really have no complaints
Lately Black ops 4 has felt the best over some of the older PS4/Xbox one life Cods. I also really like vanguard, its fast and feels good and gun game is fun and you get in matches quick and Vanguard zombies is kinda similar to WW2 zombies and it's better than Cold war zombies. Excited for black ops 6!
Black Ops 6 - It would be so easy to have a hardcore or classic mode that just removes the warzone elements like armor, custom loadouts, adds the classic point system, 3 hit downs, no exfil, etc etc
Big up my g I really enjoyed this video and was shocked at how few subs you have but Imma sub just cause this video was very well done. I personally have a liking for bo4, I haven't played much and for me I find it actually quite difficult maybe cause I haven't played as much as the older titles
Each map that came out with bo4, I slowly stopped playing completely, I understand change is good but this time It took the core away from zombies I think. Gobblegums was a good change I think, either play it or not.. choice is yours. This didn’t really feel like I was even playing zombies. But I’d have a say dead of night was a great map and the story telling. It was unique and the story was actually good .
ngl the CRAZIEST TAKE I might of ever heard was you saying tag der toten was a 2/5 in atmosphere.. tag is universally agreed to be the MOST BEAUTIFUL map we have ever gotten in zombies by a LONG shot and looks 100000000000000000000000000000S of TIMES better then call of the dead i agree with most of the video but my god was that take insane
Haha fair enough. Again it is my personal opinion. I suppose I have never liked the look of the brighter maps. Always been a personal fan of the darker atmosphere when it comes to zombies
Unless it’s something like vanguard, these videos will always have viewers who think we were too harsh on the game when it came out and after its life cycle ended. Nah, we were pretty right about bo4 lol.
BO4 was the first game I've ever preordered and I've been gaming since I received my first NES for my 4th birthday. Never preordered before, and never have again since. Mainly because of the disappointment of...bo4. At launch, the tigers' 1 hit downs made ix 💩. I probably only played voyage a handful of times total. Gave up on bo4 and never got the dlc and do not regret it. For me, bo4 was a huge step backwards from bo3. Specially since movement was king in bo3. Bo4 was smooth, but much slower and there was no real purpose for sliding because momentum slows you down. I also hated how bo4 was copy and paste of ww2 zombies where there were mini bosses that spawned every single round. I enjoyed the chaos storyline. I enjoyed the direction blundell wanted to take zombies. I didn't like the point system, the elixers, failure to deliver factions as promised and lack of funding towards the end of the game. Considering 3rc had more time to make this game than to work on bocw, overall, in my opinion, bocw had much more replayability than bo4. It's nostalgic to look back on bo4, but i have no regrets on not enjoying/playing it more.
I enjoyed the uh, black. And 4 zombie maps, but I didn't enjoy the multiplayer, and I definitely barely played the zombies in last war because it didn't have a job. And that's how you break them out for me. That's how you break a game for me. I won jug. I wanna be a tank. I don't care if I have a million 500 health. I don't care how much health I have. I want to dominate the zombies. That's what zombies are you dominate them? But yeah, that was my problem with it
2 things: I loved BO4s atmosphere the most of any zombies game. Blood of the dead especially is so somber and sad it's phenomenal. I dont like the joking zombies themes of BO1 and BO2 or the boring theme of CW. The Serious atmosphere of 4 is my favorite of the series. 2.) To me ancient evil is only beat by der eisendrache. I find ancient evil way more replayable and fun than origins, motd, or soe.
@@HotPocketEnjoyeridk man, when I’m doing challenges on IX the hud takes up SO much of the screen it’s distracting. But Cold War is also just pure adhd brain rot stimulation.
@absin8078 oh I know I've always thought why isn't the challenge banner in the top right where nothing is lmao it's so annoying but that is the only thing bad about IX
the "mob of the dead, mob of the dead, mob of the dead" argument is just wrong, they are not the same map so just because you think about it so much you can allow yourself to enjoy it
Considerably wrong about bo4 it's quite literally one of the hardest zombies games ever with the best Easter eggs and highest spectacle that's ever been done in zombies.
The time a bought BO4 it was only because it gave me 2400cp (i don't remember why but it gave 3400cp in total) and it was on sale 😅😅 I only played it about half an hour and I didn't understand the menu and the perk system.
bo4 was the beginning of the sh!tshow for cod! and cod has never gotten any better, hopefully with bo6 coming out in few days they say they want to go back to old school cod we will see
If this is a: "BO4 really isn't that bad because everything newer looks worse" take... It's unfortunately a waste of time. BO4 wasn't bad when it released (besides the obvious bug issues) and BO6 isn't going to be bad because it's different.
Bo4 zombies should have focused solely continuing the original storylines. The addition of chaos was unnecessary and took away content from the original storyline everyone was focused and invested in. Rather than concluding the storyline with our original crews which everyone knew and loved, they should have elaborated on the story and unlock new secrets to the lore. There is still so much lore from the original story that never came to fruition, such as the Great War. Overall, the conclusion to the aether storyline was not only a terrible ending, but completely unnecessary. Now we have the dark aether storyline in Cold War and continuing in the upcoming bo6. Based on Cold War, dark aether story is boring, barely has anything interesting about it, and completely lacks charm.
Hold up, they didn't like what was shown because it's not what they promised? What did they walk up to you and say hey man this game is going to be exactly what you want. No they didn't.
Yes you all were wrong, this game was a banger day one and would've been the best zombies game if it didn't get absolutely dragged through the mud. It had it's problems, but its the same problems games before and after have had that no one gives af about.
This. Bro didn’t realize that all the new maps were from the new ppl and old maps from the aether story. Which essentially is Chronicles 2. They was gonna add Tranzit but people complained
@@MinnieCeeOfficial they really should have , transit remaster in the bo4 engine was sorely needed . To balance out the wakizashi or other specialists , the fog could include vermin aswell as everything else . I can just imagine the high res purplish hues of the map and areas . At the very least we should have gotten bus routes in blackout and blackout night modes cycling into the playlist .
Tag der toten was really the most horrible map ever, felt like treyarch was really mocking us.. totally destroyed the original, getting rid of everything that was special and diluting the whole by adding empty zones around... And then putting a german name on it... A huuuuge joke. Alpha omega strangely i kinda like it, the color, the vibe. Pretty pleasant to play and challenging. Dead of the night a gem , really original with lots of personnality and mysteries, atmosphere. Those last two i would keep and deserved to survive their game. I would love them to be put out and playable on bo3 as they are but with the real perks
I don’t think so. The bo4 system is so whack. Instantly getting special weapons is just so weird. The perks are forgettable. The zombie spawns and super sprinters is dumb. Ancient evil is the only truly amazing map. All the others are either ok or trash. No gobblegum machine is just so weird. And they ended the chaos story right as it got good and right after a cliff hanger. It was trash at launch and ended up meh after all the fixes.
The maps themselves were good, aside the fact all aether maps were remakes. It really would have benefitted from at least one unique aether map, a fleshed out great war map would have been perfect. Also finale chaos map like the lighthouse of Alexandria that's been mentioned. Flops: Nobody really liked the chaos story. Aether was rushed but should have been the focal point. Hence why nobody was invested in Chaos. Should have been released later seasons. EEs were trash and limited side EEs Perk system. Nuff said. No super EE, lots of cut content Alcatraz is worse. No ZC2? Rookie mistake. Lack of cutscenes Round 150? On that map?! All that said, certain risks were taken and id much prefer that than anything we've had since. Repetitive, reused, rehashed. At least bo4 maps had something of an atmosphere still. I'd take ancient evil over outbreak any day.
No, its just we got worse stuff that made BO4 look better. It's like how people looked back at Destiny 1 fondly because Destiny 2 vanilla was shit, and its first expansion was shit.

Now it's one of my top three
All the zombies games slowly got worse and worse, it's just that BO4 still had enough of the zombies DNA in it to be enjoyable
There was only one game after bo4 and Cold War had 0 development time. When u put things into perspective u come to realize it’s not that bad
I started bo4 zombies over the past few months after only ever playing bo3 with friends
I did dead of the night EE solo and then voyage of despair EE solo within the same week
And honestly I really really enjoyed running voyage, it’s really tight but with good planning and good knowledge after a few hours of running it, it’s honestly a really fun map
Achient evil is my favorite map of all time. Its only flaw is the black ops 4 engine imo
Still better than the crap we get / will be getting now though. BO4 wasn’t great, but much more enjoyable than Cold War onwards
@@Luke-ym7hd agreed. That game nailed atmosphere.
@Luke-ym7hd that's because cold war had no other original maps except die machine and even then they were just facility maps
What’s up with these we stuff?! I have been a bo4 zombies superfan since day 1!
Bo4 is the GOAT.
I just happen to enjoy more thematically rich maps with more depth.
man, i just have to say, you did so well with this. straight up i hope you end up doing well with youtube because this content was amazing to watch. Like all good content, i didnt know time had passed until i was atleast 25 mins in.
I am now your 90th subscriber. i cant wait to be able to say that when you reach 1mil or later on
Bo4 still probably has the most playtime for me I’m the highest prestige I’ve ever been in multiplayer and I have done the bo4 zombies easter eggs the most than any other zombies game
This video was amazing I was very surprised when I saw he only had 36 subscribers the only think that I have even a close problem with was the intermissions between each section was a little to long
Thanks and you are correct. Definitely a few editing mistakes that I noticed after uploading as well. Hopefully my next is a bit better and a bit smoother.
@@cameronjack9376 I'm looking forward to it
I am currently running through bo3 zombies Easter eggs and soon bo4 next, gotta say the vibes of bo4 are way better than some of the newer stuff but i just cant bring myself to like it anywhere near as much as i want to (except for blood of the dead), but it now only does feel better because of how warzone affected call of duty
BO1 & WAW standing alone as the only 2 times people liked the zombies mode from the start lol.
Yep they all hate whatever new comes along. They’re so delusional you could give them everything they asked for & they’d still piss moan & cry
BO4 Zombies isn't bad, but it's definitely the catalyst for why Zombies is so different today.
Black Ops 6 - It would be so easy to have a hardcore or classic mode that just removes the warzone elements like armor, custom loadouts, adds the classic point system, 3 hit downs, no exfil, etc etc
I loved BO4 Zombies... It was the last zombies I actually went hardcore into
Big up my g I really enjoyed this video and was shocked at how few subs you have but Imma sub just cause this video was very well done.
My opinion about black ops 4 zombies is that the maps were great but would have been better served as DLC for Black ops 3
ngl the CRAZIEST TAKE I might of ever heard was you saying tag der toten was a 2/5 in atmosphere..
tag is universally agreed to be the MOST BEAUTIFUL map we have ever gotten in zombies by a LONG shot and looks 100000000000000000000000000000S of TIMES better then call of the dead i agree with most of the video but my god was that take insane
Haha fair enough. Again it is my personal opinion. I suppose I have never liked the look of the brighter maps. Always been a personal fan of the darker atmosphere when it comes to zombies
fire vid for a guy with 169 subs I gotchu with a like and a sub
sameee
1 The Werewolf can be killed without Silver Bullets.
2. The Shadow Werewolf is the Boss Fight.
Zombies will always have a special place in my heart ❤
Unless it’s something like vanguard, these videos will always have viewers who think we were too harsh on the game when it came out and after its life cycle ended. Nah, we were pretty right about bo4 lol.
I remember people hated this yet. They didn’t know. This was the last good game for zombies.
Do more zombies stuff and your channel will blow up trust me
@@afla1156 I plan to. Though I also don’t want to be put into a box ether
At least bo4 still had the maps and characters that felt like OG zombies
Black ops 4 still felt like treyarch zombies. It all went downhill after that
Why does bro only have 204 subscribers.
3 year disappearance does that to a man I’m afraid. But thank you
I enjoyed the uh, black.
But yeah, that was my problem with it
2 things:
I loved BO4s atmosphere the most of any zombies game.
Best game of all time. Not best Call of Duty, not best zombies, best *game.* I have poured tens of thousands of hours into it and never gotten bored.
Black ops 4 zombies is pretty solid but the HUD and perk system is god awful
The hud is still better than cold war and black ops 6 so far
@@HotPocketEnjoyeridk man, when I’m doing challenges on IX the hud takes up SO much of the screen it’s distracting. But Cold War is also just pure adhd brain rot stimulation.
@absin8078 oh I know I've always thought why isn't the challenge banner in the top right where nothing is lmao it's so annoying but that is the only thing bad about IX
Yes, you were all wrong. A lot of fans just blindly cling onto the opinions of cod zombie influencers and don't even give a product a genuine chance.
Great Video !!
the "mob of the dead, mob of the dead, mob of the dead" argument is just wrong, they are not the same map so just because you think about it so much you can allow yourself to enjoy it
Bo4 is the greatest zombie party game because custom mutations you can set up crazy scenarios
Considerably wrong about bo4 it's quite literally one of the hardest zombies games ever with the best Easter eggs and highest spectacle that's ever been done in zombies.
The time a bought BO4 it was only because it gave me 2400cp (i don't remember why but it gave 3400cp in total) and it was on sale 😅😅
I only played it about half an hour and I didn't understand the menu and the perk system.
But this year I downloaded again and the game's good, unfortunately there's not much people to play online.
Support this guy!
Awesome vid
Outstanding video! 🫡
Ix is top 5 zombies maps for me
Black ops 4 is freaking awesomene RUclipsrs being mad and complaining ruined the whole entire ending
Bloody great video - let's hope black ops 6 is good
No we were not
bo4 was the beginning of the sh!tshow for cod! and cod has never gotten any better, hopefully with bo6 coming out in few days they say they want to go back to old school cod we will see
If this is a: "BO4 really isn't that bad because everything newer looks worse" take...
No we were not wrong. A bit harsh but not wrong. It’s still miles more enjoyable than the stuff we’ve gotten in the last few years
Yes you all were wrong, this game was a banger day one and would've been the best zombies game if it didn't get absolutely dragged through the mud. It had it's problems, but its the same problems games before and after have had that no one gives af about.
Cameron Jack where have you been It’s been three years!?
Well I had to put a lot of effort in this video you see. Nah but really just life stuff. I’m back though and plan to stick around
The only thing I didn’t like about it was the perks everyone just hates on everything too fast
we were right. bo4 was and always will be the death of zombies
Played bo4 all seasons only Mp. Very sweaty but fun
Chrinicles 2 was secretly in bo4 . This was the best zombies offering in its peak. Even blackout had zombies , if only i got to play operation z .
Bo4 never reached its full potential 😔
Funny I also think BO4 was underrated. But I loved Tag Der Toten and all the aether maps. Alpha and Omega was the weakest but still a good time.
Yes we were wrong BO4 is Fucking GOOD
Bo2 was the best they put a lot of effort in the 360 days
bo4 was and always will be a step in the wrong direction for zombies.
Bo4 was best battle royal experience
Nice vid, see you on 2 years saying Cold War was underrated 😂
I thought the dude at the start was Diego from the umbrella academy until i heard his voice lol
Im sorry but rating the map lower bc its hard is crazy
bo4 had a rough launch but the game is great c:
The Cod cycle will always continue lol
54th sub
It's a good game I just really really hate that there isn't a Jughernog perk and I hate the HUD
Bo4 is very good..someone pc?
bo4 is the best zombie if you don't count custom zombies with bo3
I don’t think so. The bo4 system is so whack. Instantly getting special weapons is just so weird. The perks are forgettable. The zombie spawns and super sprinters is dumb. Ancient evil is the only truly amazing map. All the others are either ok or trash. No gobblegum machine is just so weird. And they ended the chaos story right as it got good and right after a cliff hanger. It was trash at launch and ended up meh after all the fixes.
No it’s still a steaming pile but now there’s worse out there so it’s bareable in comparison
The maps themselves were good, aside the fact all aether maps were remakes. It really would have benefitted from at least one unique aether map, a fleshed out great war map would have been perfect. Also finale chaos map like the lighthouse of Alexandria that's been mentioned.
Flops:
Nobody really liked the chaos story.
Aether was rushed but should have been the focal point. Hence why nobody was invested in Chaos. Should have been released later seasons.
EEs were trash and limited side EEs
Perk system. Nuff said.
No super EE, lots of cut content
Alcatraz is worse.
No ZC2? Rookie mistake.
Lack of cutscenes
Round 150? On that map?!
All that said, certain risks were taken and id much prefer that than anything we've had since. Repetitive, reused, rehashed. At least bo4 maps had something of an atmosphere still. I'd take ancient evil over outbreak any day.
No, its just we got worse stuff that made BO4 look better. It's like how people looked back at Destiny 1 fondly because Destiny 2 vanilla was shit, and its first expansion was shit.
Love bo4 tbh
