Those are the nicest public pull-up bars I have ever seen. The ones around where I live have been around since before the Civil War it seems, pretty sure I'd need a tetanus shot after every set
The most impressive part of this video is that he can still talk like normally with high speed during exercise without being out of breath, most fitness RUclipsrs can't say a single word during their exercise. That's the power of cardio gains 💪
@@AlexLeonidas is it really worth it, tho? I mean, biceps are still beeing worked a lot in a normal chinup, so wouldn't it be better to just try to get better at conventional chinups and then add some isolation biceps work at the end (even bodyweight curls or curls with a band if dumbells are not an option). I mean, why try to turn a compound back exercise into an isolation exercise for the biceps when you can actually do a real isolation exercise for the biceps? Don't get me wrong, your advice in this video it's still great, I'm just curious.
@@matriaxpunk regardless of this being true or not. I think he also recommends this to people that do not have good dumbbells/barbells especially during this lockdown
Knurled bars are actually pretty terrible, feels like a cheese grater on your hands when you're doing muscle ups. I never struggled with grip strength on a regular bar so it doesn't even make sense to knurl them.
@@AlexLeonidas what do you think of matthew zlatt chin up form, his arms are not super big but his chin up is like 130kg or some shit, his lats are so big that they completely take over
Great video. I appreciate how you showed multiple times from multiple angles the differences between a lat-centric chin up versus a bicep-centric one. I needed those multiple demonstrations. Thank you.
Alex which are your favourite youtube fitness channels which you follow and would suggest others to do as well? Can be a video segment of its own or maybe cover it in Q and A. Always looking forward to your vids but you gotta do something to fix this comment section filter. A lot of quality questions I posted didn't go through and someone in the comment section was complaining about the same thing so might need to be given a look.
this is most helpful video about working out i've seen in a while. straight to the point, no overcomplicating and the tips worked really well. thank you! :)
Hell yeah. I was introduced to you through this random hate video. And honestly, I have no idea what their problem is cause your tutorials have helped me so much.
Wow that last tip... I've been doing chin-ups for years with biceps emphasis without even knowing it :D And that was never my intention. Good to know. I like this new style, Alex, you can really make a great series like this with short, straight to the point and visual guides. Awesome stuff!
Love the new outdoor scenery and tutorials. Make more for other exercises. Also nice to see you outside in natural lighting too - it kinda uplifts my mood. Gains are still 💯 real though.
I was wondering why I was only feeling it in the back but not the biceps when I did my chin ups. It's all to do with the grip width and elbow position. Thanks for the tips.
Great video; great advice! Many thanks. I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery and my shoulder range is such that I can't do chin-ups yet, but as soon as I'm able I plan to incorporate chin-ups into my biceps training for sure -- appreciate the tutorial. Keep up the good work bro.
I really like banded chinups for biceps. I even do weighted band chinups with a vest as crazy as it sounds so that the upper portion of the movement will be the toughest on the biceps.
Witnessing Alex evolve throughout the years in so many areas so quickly is like watching the Godfather movies and seeing how the Corleone family evolved from Vito's NY crime mob to Michael's legitimate Las Vegas business.
Your cue is to turn it into a calisthenics hollow body pullup, which is fine, because it minimizes the back, turing the pullup onto a pullover, but I much prefer the slightly outside shoulders, like in a Rippetoe barbell curl, for the full contraction cramping sensation.
For you guys that want to modify the chin-up to emphasize your forearm's flexors I recommend you to: -go as narrow as possible -do it with FatGripz -take a thumbless grip (all fingers on one side) and focus on squeezing with the ring fingers and pinky fingers. I am a forearm fanatic and I work my forearms like crazy with the wrist roller and wrist curls, but this chin-up variation left my flexors so sore for days (believe me, I didn't have a soreness in flexors for more than a year of wrist curls and wrist roller...and mind you, I tried both heavy work low reps and high reps too, but heavy work for forearms is the way to go). Have a nice day!
I swear using this type of pull up have me better arms than I ever got from doing curls. I just made a video about a 6 month experiment of swapping curls for arm biased pull ups and I’m excited for the results! I swear by them for ppl without access for equip to perform curls & if you have your doubts follow my videos and you’ll see just how effective they are.
Theres finally a new apparatus which basically has two short bars attached to the bar bent at slightly 90 degree angles so it hits the bicep peak. A lot of gyms finally brining that chin up bar in.
And follow a tempo called *Chinius* (hold the down portion while saying it) *upius* (up yourself slowly saying this) *bicepius* (hold the top position so long as it takes you to say it).
Hey Alex I hope you're doing well. I want to know what's your opinion on crawling and primal and animal movements, have you tried them yourself? Would love to get your thoughts about it :)
Hey man, I'm not really familiar with that type of training so I can't provide extensive comments. I've seen some guys do that for GPP using a weight vest, sled pulls, and bands and it seemed okay for what they wanted. Can't say I particularly care about that.
@@AlexLeonidas I see. I recently tried a few crawls which Red Delta project once posted and was surprised by how fun they were to perform and worked on areas which we generally don't get lifting weights,I feel adding this style of training will improve my coordination and health in general so I'm quite looking forward to it, I'll post a link to it if you ever wanna try and review them yourself 🙏

I really like the quality of your videos and the information you are giving...I would like to ask though what would you suggest about elbow pain when doing the chin ups?

Just when I’ve spent so much time learning chins correctly for back, now I have to learn how to do them wrong for biceps.
Lmao crazy ain't it?!?! Was in the same boat as you brother
