7:03 that is indeed me that did the Riffmaster support! it's awesome to have Xbox One stuff supported finally lol, the RB4 guitars and drums work too now. shoutouts to the people who got me input report logs for RB4InstrumentMapper and YARG and confirmed things work, wouldn't have been possible without them ❤
This episode will be a tremendous reference for many! 5 Fret has genuinely impacted and changed many of peoples lives. The hardware behind it has been through the ringer but as in typical community fashion, we won't let it die. The arc has been an awesome one and we're only getting started from here! Shoutouts to all the creators in the scene for putting their heads together to keep it breathing. If it wasn't for the hardware and the software, I personally would not be on the life path I'm currently on w/ my own electronic servicing and repairs. To think it all started just because I wanted to fix my guitar from dropping inputs + overstrumming and was tired of reaching out to have it fixed is insane to me. I have made myself personally proud and touched with the people I have met, the friends I have made, the lessons I've been learning and the constant drive I found within myself to better everything around me all because of these games and the hardware surrounding it. This podcast, the hosts and the modding scene fucking rock and I can't thank em enough! 🤘Legends never die ;)
I love that every episode that's going to be "short" or "focused" ends up being WAY more chock full of info, lore, and just general super positive content. Great episode!
Santroller has been the greatest gift to the community. The automatic console detection is some serious black magic shit. I can literally take my controller, plug it into my PS4, PC, RGH Xbox, or PS2 with OPL and it will work instantly with no setup needed. If someone told me 5 years ago that was gonna be possible I would have said they're dreaming.
this episode had everything. Cool lore (yes that was really cool lore), geeking out, shitting on the haters, and being proud of the community. y'all are killing it, keep it up boys
Buying a RCM V3 adapter and being able to use my Wii Les Paul on a stock 360 completely wired was a game changer for me. Even when capped at 250Hz, it feels way more responsive than using a wireless 360 Les Paul. And I've never been a fan of Xplorers because of the back button size and placement making it more difficult for score chasing, so if I wanted a wired Les Paul I would've had to otherwise pay a lot of money for a kiosk guitar if it weren't for these adapters and mod kits. I cannot recommend the RCM V3 adapter enough as an entry level option for people who want to get into console, as well as for console veterans on a tight budget.
36:40 I'm a lefty too but I play right-handed mode because I prefer using my most dexterous hand on the fret buttons. The right hand only has to strum up and down. 38:38 I have a PS3 Les Paul and a PS3 WT guitar (both dead) and a working stock Kramer, however I don't live in the US so getting those kits may be a problem (and certainly expensive...) May I suggest an episode in which you guys talk about all those weird and unusual third-party controllers (like the Warbeast)? I only got back at playing these games because a somewhat rare and unknown controller fell from the heavens straight into my arms, the Peak Starpex. It's a wired/wireless full-sized-wooden-body guitar compatilble with GH and RB for the PS2 and PS3. It also works on the PC for YARG and Clone Hero. I've been using it since last November and I love it so much.
Interesting to hear your takes of the Riffmaster. I haven’t put tooooo much time into it yet, and I’m not someone who puts my right hand on the fretboard (yet?), but it’s good to know that the Riffmaster isn’t frequented as a top tier instrument, that Metallica One FC notwithstanding.
pois é eu to doido pra comprar o kit do retrocult pra arrumar minha xplorer, mas sei que vou ser taxado a preço de uma placa de video tem uma loja ai que ta vendendo a riffmaster por 3 mil, eles não tem noção do preço
oh my god this couldnt have come out at a better time I recently started playing more clone hero again cause festival reignited my want to play these rhythm games again and Im getting so tired of my rock band 1 strat thank you guys. Also thanks moose for the tip of how to fix the buttons my red is giving out lol
I suck pretty badly at guitar (+clone) hero and I'm just getting back into it again. For reference, my best on ttfaf is 85% right now haha. I have two guitar hero 2 xbox xplorers that I've been using and I can't speak highly enough of them. The xplorer works really well with pc and it plugs directly in with usb.
With the Cross-Game Comparison thing I agree, the various games are so different that it's not really worth bringing up as they're all their own thing. An FC is an FC at the end of the day. I guess my one question and this goes for Moose since he's the stickler (Dunno if this'll be answered) is if you guys think getting FC's on the official GH and RB games on an emulator is as legitimate as on console. I ask cause for me and I imagine other people who aren't as fortunate with money, playing the games through emulation is the most accessible option as it has no monetary entry fee. So my main question is with some games on these emulators (Mainly Van Halen, Metallica, Smash Hits, GH5, Band Hero and Warriors Of Rock) You can play them on RPCS3 with higher frame rates than 60 and it gives an advantage to a degree. So I guess I'm asking if you would consider that to be less legit than someone playing at 60 on a stock console, and I guess I'd also be asking if playing GH III on RPCS3 and getting an FC at 60 FPS (You can't play GH III at higher than 60, it breaks) would be as legit as a console FC. Though I guess asking this is like asking if GH III PC FC's are legit considering that can be played at hundreds of FPS. I only really ask since while I do play for fun mostly and to improve (I do have a fair few FC's on my channel and others I've never recorded), I never really could find any top player's stance or the community's stance on playing through emulation using PCSX2 and RPCS3 as opposed to using real hardware. Really love the podcast guys, I always go to listen to a new episode whenever it drops if I'm able to, I love learning more and divulging further into brain rot.
I'm wondering what version of the drop in kit from phunkycustoms I should get because I have a doyo guitar that looks like a kramer but I want to be sure. can anyone help?
Great episode! Question I hope someone may be able to answer. If I get a solderless kit from RCM for my wiitar, can I still use it on Wii? I've got two of them and just wanna know if I can do both or keep one to use on wii. Either way I'm definitely grabbing a kit after this ep
i have to questions about modded guitars, is it not worth it to keep the detachable neck even if you change the connector and if exists kits for the rock band stratocaster?, i have a wired one that stopped working
As someone who is getting back in to these games again, I like the riffmaster, but I struggle getting strums down. It feels like I'm over strumming. Would a strum fix be good on the riffmaster?
im glad that yall mentioned the lefty issues with the riffmaster as someone who plays left handed myself. it annoys me to no end that they advertised it as lefty friendly yet it had the least lefty friendly overdrive button i've ever seen lol. the wammy placement doesn't even matter that much, it's not like any guitars had inaccessible wammys to begin with.
God I love plastic guitar lore

God I love your Solderless kit that turn a broken guitar into a brand new guitar!!

The strumfix definitely feels more responsive than the mushy feel of a stock strum bar. It is not the easiest install though, just be warned.
