  • This bread is very similar to that delicious, soft brown bread that you enjoy as an appetizer and meal accompaniment at Outback Steakhouse. 😊

@@QueenChatty1 okay. This is the recipe.
      Ingredients:
      1.5 cups whole wheat flour
      2.5 cups bread flour
      3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
      1/4 cup brown sugar
      1/4 cup honey
      3 Tablespoons molasses
1/4 cup canola or olive oil
      1 teaspoon salt
      1.5 cups warm water
      1.5 tablespoons yeast
Cornmeal to sprinkle on the baking tray
      Method:
In a bowl, mix the warm water, brown sugar, honey, and molasses. Add the yeast and stir. Leave to soften and dissolve for about 5 minutes.
Mix together the flours, cocoa powder, salt, and oil. Then add in the yeast mixture. Combine all by hand thoroughly or using a stand mixer until stretchy and smooth, then cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for about an hour. (I use the proof setting, but a warm area will work) at standard room temp it may need to rise for longer. It needs to double in size.
After it has risen, turn out onto a floured surface and divide into 8 equal portions. Roll out each into log shapes. Place them onto a parchment lined baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal and cover with a light tea towel. Let them rise for about 20 minutes, then bake at 400 F for about 15-20 minutes.
