I think that you did not understand the philosophy behind this car. It’s not a performance car at all, but rather a nice, comfy commuter car that gets great MPG. It also looks much better than a Prius and the interior is 10x better, and you still get that great fuel economy. It’s not a car that’s meant to be driven hard. It’s not a fun car. Heck it doesn’t even have paddle shifters. But it’s a really comfy, reliable car. And you also get the Lexus experience. The new ones have apple car play and a backup camera, but yeah obviously not in the base model like pretty much all the cars... you should have tested an higher trim. I own a 2015 CT and I love it. Great car to go work everyday. But again it’s not meant to be driven hard, and it’s not a performance car at all. Btw, it’s not dangerous to get on the highway in this car. A lot of cars are slower, the same time to 60 or just one or two secs faster. It just feels slows because of the CVT noise, but it’s not really that slow.
Jules D So true, and it has a sports mode as well. I have a mid 2013 CT and I love it as well. I’m going to give it to my son. It’s very reliable. I’ve only ever been to the Lexus centers to get oil changes and tire changes. Never had to replace the battery or anything. Because of the small size, you don’t really need a backup camera or a screen. You can set up Bluetooth, which is basically the same thing as Apple play.
i agree. i have a 2012 premium w pop up nav. it’s not meant to be growling. it’s a refined luxury econo car. the only strong suit in terms of performance is this car’s great ability to perform high-G cornering. i can easily go on a curvy mountain road at 55-60mph in the CT.
Mine will be 8 yrs this year, the car drives like new and there is no wear to be found. Never had any faults. Drive it blindfold, you won’t feel the difference between new. Try this with a german car, or any other. A german car at that age without any defects through the years is an exception. For a lexus at that age is completely normal. My ct200h is worth today at 7 yrs old the same than my c class mercedes at 4 yrs old. Guess why that is.. Sadly the truth. And I know because before i always had bmw, mercedes, audi and vw. There is a (big) difference in reliability, service and quality. There is more that meets the eye.. ;-)
Far from a rebagded Toyota Prius that handles like a drunk overweight rinocerous on ice, this car has the underpinings of a Scion TC with it's double wish bone rear suspension. It also has 17 inch wheels with a little grippier tires (not quit as low resistance tires) and bigger sway bars. It even has a horizontal rear damper to limit rear body role and keeps the cars' rear end well planted. Go do a lap on a race course against a Prius and see who holds those curves better. It's price isn't far off that of a Prius and the Pruis will never have any of the Luxurey of the Lexus. The only thing the CT200h shares with the Prius are the power plant with the e-CVT transmission, the nickel metal-haled battery and that awful shifter. The Prius in a straight line is actually just barelly faster being a lighter car. This is a commuter car for bumper to bumper traffic. But think of it as if you hit some nice winding roads you can keep up your speed and negociate those curves. Personnally I'd look for a used one. You know it hasn't been beat cause that type of driver would never buy one. Parts aren't expensive. They are crazy reliable. Plus having those regen brake to recharge the battery pack they will use the brakes up far SLOWER meaning even less maintance. Used ones can be found easily for around $20,000. I have a manual gearbox german sporty convertable car and I need a 1 ton Truck for my work that can tow +30,000lbs of heavy equipement. But if I have to be doing submissions in the big city stuck in traffic, waiting at traffic lights and adding up the miles, I'd rather have this eco car with a comfortable interior and good handling as my 3rd car. Being a hatchback it's way more practical than the Pruis or a sedan.
I live in Toronto and I've always had 5 series BMWs. I bought a 2013 200h and I love it. It's great around town. I can't race of off the line anymore, like I did when I was retarded, but I save a tonne of gas and buy more fancy dinners.
Who designs a city where you stop at the end of an on ramp, that's insanely dangerous, an on ramp is where you build up your speed to match the highway and filter in.
This is nog a rebadged prius.. they share the same platform. The engine is the same as a prius or a auris. Here in the Netherlands is 0-60 time of 10.3 seconds not bad. Most of the people here drive a golf with 1.2TSI
Joh Phannos Also TSI and TFSI are bad engines. Breakdowns are common. The only "good" VW family engines WERE the 1.6 and the 1.9 TDI. The only engines you COULD buy from them are the 3.0 and 1.9 diesel! Conclusion: VW sucks 😂
Totally disagree! I love mine...extremely reliable with 175000 miles on it and I get 50 MPG and with todays insane gas prices I can give up a little 0-60 time.
This is perfect for urban city driving: small, elegant and great fuel economy. I like it, but am looking to get more Luxury and comfort so will upgrade to an Avalon Hybrid 2019 model in 2022.
Interesting. I really like mine. I think with proper expectations it’s a pretty good vehicle for commuting to work. I don’t really expect it to be a performance car, but the electric motor is quick off the line and it handles pretty well. So, it goes above and beyond expectations if you set them at Prius standards. I have the Lexus experience with the comfort and styling you’d expect but still get 42mpg. It’s basically a very efficient commuter car that even a “car guy” can appreciate. It’s direct comparison is a Prius so if you consider that, this is pretty nice in my opinion.
you do car reviews .you always supposed to do the basics .The main one is leg room .front and back which you forgot about in all this mumbo jumbo .And for the crazy milage .The car is not bad .Those who wanna buy this are not buying it for speed
I brought a 2014 F Sport from a friend who is a mechanics , he rebuilt the engine and sold to me for only $6800 , really love this car especially for handling on the F Sport version
There is a freeway in the Los Angeles area (where this video was filmed) that requires you to do this. It is an older and narrower parkway which has very short entrance and exit ramps with stop signs. In order to enter the road, you must start from a complete stop and floor it. This is very rare but we put up with it here in LA.
So its a pretty good value at 31k when new. The apple tech whatever you repeat three times, isn't at all important. I'm not sure what that is, don't have any other apple besides the one I'm eating right now. If you need a tech gizmo to eat an apple, you are dumb. So when testing a CAR, talk about that not an apple. It is a dressed up Prius and excels at that function. Just like your IS300 is a dressed up Camry. All Lexus models starts at Toyota at one point. The car might be slow but only from 0-60 times due to the cvt. Once moving, the 20-50mph time is very compatible. It has a decent interior and exterior and while it is dated, the car is now 8-9 years old. How does a 9 year old Mercedes model look ? dated. Exactly. Most models are redone by 7 years, this one marched on for 2 more years. No surprise it will look dated by the end of the cycle. While this car does not worth 40grand, as a new car for 31grand is a good price.
Been using this car for a week hate it. Connecting to bluetooth is stupid and music plays but cant talk on phone. I drive 10 miles like a grandma and it goes down 22 miles slow af this car is bs idc what people say
I mean it is a bit overpriced, lacking the tech from the Germans which are around the same price. but, it is a hybrid which you have to pay lots to get. so it is more of a environment friendly LUXURY hatch
You probably get a good amount of low end torque due to the electric motor which gives that zippy feeling off the line, but as you get to speeds higher than 25 or 30, the gas engine kicks in which isn’t that powerful. Basically that’s the difference between being fast and zippy.
I love in Long Island and I gotta commute to the city sometimes and it does Wonders on gas. I barely gotta fill up (doesn’t help that my other car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee that does a mere 4 mpg driving up a hill)
I wanted to punch your face the entire video. Have you ever considered that some people just want a fuel efficient dependable commuter and don’t mind paying a premium for luxury. While we’re on the topic, you can pay upward of 50 grand for a speced out Prius so…
Love your game ! I would say hummm... 🤔 11 seconds lol !!! I know my motorcycle would tear it up with a 3.2 seconds lol !!! so all to say , I know where I’m getting myself into with this purchase I just like to not spend a lot on gas especially after owning a 2014 350 IS AWD Lexus . So yup, I need to spend my hard earned money on an electric car baby 🚙 ⚡️

You don’t know what you’re saying 😂
Please elaborate
@@CarVisionLA - You wanted it to be a sporty coupe when it is not. Its an eco-friendly luxury city hatchback. You don't get the car but its oke.
@@CarVisionLA Apart from the drive train this car does not resemble the Toyota Prius in any way. This car is Bullet proof and will never let you down.
Love my CT200h
One ones paying $35k i plan on getting one for $5-6k

megaangelic California does onramps like this.
I think that's only for narrow highways

It really is a terrible value. Just get a seat ibiza 2018 with a diesel if you want good fuel economy and pretty car
We don’t get any SEAT cars in the USA but the Ibiza is a good alternative for buyers in markets where it is available.
British Entertainment if you have long commutes, this car is so much better. That’s a fact. Overall it’s merely an opinion
British Entertainment The only Seat I would trust is the Octavia and Superb.
But still... VW family 🤮
