You are probably the most underrated pianist on youtube, how do you not have more views? Your musicality and technique are amazing please keep more of these vids coming!
Merci for this. This is way out of my pay grade, but I like to see what is possible. I am an American Chiropractor that passed my Swiss Boards, but had to radically change my techniques due to a major orthopaedic problem. Because of that I have developed many techniques for the upper extremity. I've talked with other piano channels (I started 2 months ago) and have proposed doing a video for exercises and self-treatment for the hands, wrists, forearms and shoulders. My daughter will film and edit it. I'm not interested in starting a channel, I'm not tech savvy. But if you would want to use it...
I only really watch technical tutorials because I love seeing the details in all these different patterns and whatnot, no way could I ever play parallel thirds like that though xD I saw in a 1976 concert how jazz pianist Mel Powell did a crazy run of parallel thirds while playing stride piano at breakneck speed, that was really something.
The only thing you left out is to actually play the lower voice slightly softer which will actually help you gain lightness and speed. Even double thirds need voicing.
You da bomb! All people have to do is practice. You can be as great as you want to be if you’re willing to put the work in. There’s no magic wand ppl. Put the work in. Nonetheless, this is very generous of you Natalie Tenenbuam. Thank you for sharing!
That's very true- anyone can play anything if they are willing to put some time consistently. Thank you so much for your generous feedback and for watching & supporting!
I use double thirds very often in my improvs. Up and down etc. by themselves AND as a part of the “line” or in conjunction with the left hand for parallel chordal chromatic and diatonic planing. I love your approach to teaching : I did the exact same exercises as a teenager (the one starting around 4:30 into your video being particularly tricky - the one with upper note repeated 😅). Anyway, I also use VERY frequently the fingering found in Measures 17-18 of Chopin’s Study (25, no.6). On notes G and D running “downward” I use pinky. Also check out interesting suggestion : in Measures 23-24 use 4-1, 5-3 (instead of 5-2). It becomes so convenient in bar 24 😊 As an overall exercise (apart from transposing entire study to all 12 keys !) I love practicing bars 27-30 in two “series”. First series starts with D7 utilizing the highest “c” on the piano, and following the pattern goes through following tonalities : GMaj, FMaj, EbMaj, DbMaj, BMaj and AMaj (whole-step-downs). Conversely, the remaining series will encompass F#Maj, EMaj, DMaj, CMaj, BbMaj, and AbMaj ( with CMaj and BbMaj as invented by Chopin). There are other incredibly useful patterns coming from this study, very suitable for chromatically extended improvisations.
Hi Natalie, This is an excellent video! I must show this to my students. When will you have your West Side Story transcription published? I would like to purchase it. You are an inspiration!
Thank you so much, Michael! I am working on the WSS arrangement transcription and hope to have it out ASAP. Thank you for watching the video and for your kind words! I really appreciate it.
@@NatalieTenenbaum Thank you so much for your reply. How exciting! Please can you email me when the score is ready. harveypianoschool@yahoo.com How would you like me to make the payment?
First, learn Chopin’s op. 10 no. 6. Next, simply climb mount everest. Once you can bench 1500 pounds and run a mile in 3 minutes, the hard part is over.
Oh jeez, all brilliant but I am just simply looking for a tutorial on what are Double Thirds, not a life story, it is impossible it seems to get simple music lessons on utube, people just talk on and on. I give up!

So, with the RH going down it's the same fingering?
So little finger has to cross under 4 & 3? And 4 has to cross under 3?
Seems awkward.
Yeah I don't get why she skipped the fingering for 345 going down
Yes
Keep pumping out those videos !!!👍
Working on it! ✨💫🙏🏼

On the way down do you still use the pinky only on C and F (the same fingering used on the way up)?
Yes! 👏🏼
