    Fascinating as always! Any chance of a tour of Nuuk's best cafes?

    • @DrifterDave

      Thank you! For this series, I included the cafe visits in individual videos instead of a standalone video, as niche-of-a-niche doesn’t always perform well on RUclips! I might experiment with that on a future visit, though! ☕️

    Another great trip buddy and nicely developed area indeed! The food items in the shop look interesting too.😁

    I won’t be trying any of that meat! But good to know where I’ll be able to get a decent coffee. Looking forward to the rest of your explorations.

    Guess you didnt want to try the Whale Meat, especially the Beluga, I was in the Alaskan Arctic and one of the Inuit who eats the stuff said its really harsh especially when its made at home, not for the faint of heart. LOL Great video

      I used to live in Nunavut territory, so I’ve tried the local beluga multiple times, but didn’t feel the need to do so again in Greenland! Not my flavour 😂

      @@DrifterDave to me, I have a general feeling that eating whale is really not something that should be a "tourist thing"... i.e. done by someone not of *(or without deep knowledge of) that culture, & without the respect and understanding of theses creatures for what they are... you are eating a spiritual & sentient being rather than an animal... whilst I will not call that evil, I would say there is a mystical element of that that needs to be fully appreciated and understood when doing it.
      there is to a certain degree a right to the purity of ones culture, in all it's forms, up to, and including human sacrifice... I do not believe we have a right to judge another culture... only the motive/honesty with which an individual adheres to it. but some things should be kept to the culture & not be lowered to the popular level.
      when once I asked a Kham-Tibetan how being devout Tantric Buddhist he ate meat, he said a very important thing... "we are equally ready to be food for the creatures of the mountains just as they are food for us..." I think, there is an element of that here too... they are of the sea, and honor it, and respect it, and are willing to take their death from it... they have a right to eat such foods... most of us, do not.

    All the various local meats are fascinating. I would have tried them all if I could. Also incredibly expensive place for what it is, I guess it makes sense since they have to import most things, except the local meats haha.

      Definitely fascinating! And I agree - not a cheap destination 😳

    • @DrifterDave
      @DrifterDave  Год назад +1

      @@REAL_MR12 I’m sure that’s true. I actually didn’t find it any more expensive than normal prices here in Canada (except coffee). Nunavut is WAY more expensive than Greenland - 2-3x more.

    Una ciudad muy interesante y muy poco conocida y divulgada. Muy didáctico el video sobre algunas cosas de Nuuk. En cuanto a los precios no creo que sean tan caros si se analiza que se debe importar casi todo, los precios de los fletes, , las distancias, etc, pero seguramente el ingreso medio debe ser bastante alto y no muy distinto al de Dinamarca. De lo que he visto de la ciudad me llama la atención el abundante parque automotor que se ve, muchas gruas que muestran que hay bastante actividad en la construcción, modernas edificaciones , ausencia de árboles por su situación geográfica y clima, y un entorno natural estupendo. Saludos desde Santa Fe Argentina, en el otro extremo del Continente.

      Gracias por mirar y explorar Nuuk conmigo 🙏 Es un lugar muy interesante y único. Mire mis otros videos del Ártico para conocer áreas más remotas, como Baker Lake y Rankin Inlet, Nunavut (Arctic Canadiense).
