Got to say that the video is quite good and the bag seems to be pretty cool when done (got a wonky one made already, will redo it), I do need to note a few things about the video:
1)There isn't actually much information on how to prepare the leather before stitching (especially the edges).
2)The frontal part had been done wrong! I actually didn't notice it before I started stitching mine. Actually, I noticed it when I did my bag and the flip top closed pretty bad.
When I checked the video once more to see what went wrong I noticed that the frontal piece which is being stitch has the ring for the lock stitched on the top part of the circle, but in the next cut you're holding the bag with the lock ring on the bottom!
So yeah, that kinda sucked.
Good catch on the clasp being incorrect. So glad you said that so I didn't make that mistake. Whew! Thank you! The part of the video I can't figure out is what was that first part with the circular cut out with punching the holes and cutting and all that. It isn't part of this pattern at all. I thought I was watching the wrong video at first.

At 14:30 the hook was at the top of the circle, but at 14:35 it changes to the bottom of the circle. Was that a mistake initially?

I love your patterns! This is the second one I've purchased. Quick question though...I used masking tape to secure my patterns as you described. However, last time I found that wherever masking tape had been in contact with leather, it did not take dye as well as the surrounding area. This left strange light colored areas in my finished project where I had used leather from where a pattern had been taped nearby before...any solutions? I'm going to try to avoid that this time around, but I don't know of any solutions. I'm pretty new to the whole leather thing. The only thing I can think of is trace with an awl, but that will be tricky.
