I just want this remake to FINISH the manga out. That's all I care about. I know there's 407 chapters in the manga and obviously they won't get to all of them, but at least get the important chapters through.
Yeah! The original anime played out like a sitcom, with a situation played out every episode and sometimes turning into a mini-arc, but in the end, it amounted to nothing. No curse being removed, no who ends up with who, like an old sitcom canceled mid-season. FINISH IT AND FINISH IT OFF RIGHT (AND MAKE IT FAITHFUL TO THE MANGA!)
As a manga fan, I'm very happy about this remake. The art style, vision, and panels are more faithful to the manga, with better pacing, no fillers, and no additional characters which is the biggest problem of the 1989 version. I hope they can adapt all big arcs which the old version didn't adapt and... half of its content consisting of fillers not present in the original manga.
@@TheScoppie An additional character refers to someone like Sasuke, who is an original character from the 1989 anime and does not appear in the original manga.
It's amazing but it doesn't mean it should replace the original. Watch them both in any order you want. But watch them BOTH. The original and the remake art style are so beautiful and suits the series. You shouod experience both of them.
I have previously seen all of the original series, and I caught up with the rebooted series today. I was expecting it to be updated for modern times like Urusei Yatsura was, but instead it is still set in the 80s. So there are no laptops or cell phones like the rebooted Urusei Yatsura has. So far, the stories have all been ones I already know, and each has usually introduced one of the main characters. The main changes I've noticed have been that the girl Ranma is noticeably shorter than Akane, and the nudity has been censored. Since I rated the original series 10/10, I am hoping to eventually see new stories the original series didn't tell. While I'm not caught up on either Urusei Yatsura series, the reboot for that has done a really good job keeping things interesting without repeating a lot of what I remember from the original series. Since both are from the same creator, I'm hoping the Ranma 1/2 reboot will be as good as the Urusei Yatsura reboot, but I need to see more episodes before I can really tell if it will be.
Excellent, well-rounded critique and appraisal, thank you. I think this new version is going to win a whole new generation of fans (my daughter is HOOKED), and this feels like a good thing. Personally, I don’t think the remake has quite the same impact as the original did, especially in the West in the 1990s, but it still has the ability to make waves, especially in a world that’s still arguing about gender, trans -rights and general wokery. At its heart, Ranma 1/2 is a show about being open-minded, learning from mistakes and adapting with other people, and the obstinance and ridiculousness of the various ‘villains’ throughout the show is called out, questioned, but eventually accepted and understood, while the failings of Akane and Ranma themselves are also explored, reflected upon and resolved. It’s a manga/anime that is ultimately about the chaos and confusion of teenage identity and young love, and the remake clearly embraces this.
Nothing will change till the stuff that wasnt adapted in the original anime for example the arc where ranma pretends to be ryogas sister to mess with ryoga
the most important thing this remake one up’s the OG anime is it’s more closely following the manga, especially the way it portrays Akane who I believe was unfairly mischaracterized in the OG. Another is the emphasis on the main romance, which is Ranma & Akane. No matter how many characters will be introduced to come between them, the remake reminds that it’s their romantic relationship that is developing in this story, despite the shenanigans & clownery that will ensue 😂
Was wondering as someone who felt uncomfortable as a young boy around OG Ranma but now wants ti watch the show, because I figured out I was bi. All the things that made me feel weird about the show became points I'm now, at 31, interested in exploring. Which would you recommend FIRST, original or remake? Asking as someone who's comfortable with old and new anime. Haven't seen your video, but bookmarked it for later, to avoid spoilers. I like watching even shorter analysis after the medium to avoid spoilers...
Both are great, but I'd highly recommend the remake. The animation is outstanding and keeps the 90s anime vibe. It features the same voice actors as the original and has much better pacing, cutting out all the filler
Honestly I think the original might work cuz it's lets certain aspects breath a bit and the word play feels a bit better. I tend to watch the dub. Thoigh the new one is good two.
You may end up watching both, since there's only 6 episodes of the remake out, and that might not be enough if you end up liking it. I've been watching the original episodes side by side with the new ones to see how they compare in terms of presentation, pacing, characterization, and voice acting. The OG anime ran at a slower pace, adding in some filler scenes not present in the Manga. Some of these scenes were good, many were not. The remake runs at about 2x the speed, doing in 1 episode what the original did in 2. In doing so it occasionally feels rushed, but the pacing is good overall.
It may be surprising, but the pacing and animation of the original are things I love about it. I think the remake's pacing is a bit too fast. It appears to be condensing a lot of episodes, and I fear it's pandering to an audience with short attention spans.
I did not like the visual, it feels cheap, that being sad, I am also old and love the old one style :V I am glad people liking it and more people discovering this gem. Great video, keep making more!
Ehhhhhh its just okay the original is better, it takes its time and lets characters get to know each other aka ryoga and akanes relationship makes more sense then it does in relationship. The remake ruins the more emotional moments like when ranma goes to apologize to akane she says hes her worst nightmare and in the remake ranma just slides down the stairs comically while in the og ranma is legitimately hurt and u feel for him. Akane in the remake says she hates men..... which is sjw bullshit cause thats not akane at all, akane hates boys cause they are immature and always trying to shove themselves infront of her etc. Yes the animation is decent but alot of characters look nothing how they should infact it starts to make every character look like the same character with lifeless eyes. Another thing the og does better is the ost, the new ones ost is kind of a joke compared to it.
Mappa really did a great job adapting Ranma the way it’s supposed to be adapted! ❤

i am an og (watched/read in the early 90s) ranma 1/2 fan and i am so happy with the remake. they are doing the manga justice imo.

The additional characters will be added as the show progresses.

Oh an this is supposed to be a reboot according to mappa and netflix
the faster pacing makes the makes the jokes land better
Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan should've taken notes from that

Truth is its a reboot
Might not seem rn because of not being going into the reboot content

Great video, keep making more!
Mappa did a wonderful job!!! I'm enjoying so much ❤❤❤🥰
Great and entertaining show. They're doing a great job!
The translation got fucked up. And cerrain scenes were either censored or outright removed.
