      It’s only injuries that stops Penn State from title -- the continu dropping of NCAA programs is something the NCAA needs to watch Ohio has lost 3 college teams -41 have been dropped Forbes is reporting - they financial can’t complete with the big money schools that have clubs that pour money in and create international and national level trading clubs like the Nitty Lions have. It’s a dynasty for sure - the only thing is can anyone ever compete financially when they don’t have the purse strings - Television money helps with Football and Basketball . Not to mention NIL money - Oaklahoma State came up with $ money for the coaches to try and emulate PSU but they would need To have a Wrestling Club that can bring in and pay International and National elites like the Nitty Lions club has.

    Cael Sanderson is the best coach of any sport in all of college sports. perhaps ever. this team. is an absolute machine. makes Georgia, bama, Ohio State football look like jokes. this Penn State wrestling program. is utterly insanely amazing. wow.

    Cael is such a great coach. He would never have sent out a promising freshman non starter to take a loss to the best guy in the country and possibly hurt his confidence going forward. And sitting the big mouth starter so he doesn’t get whooped and keeps his record unblemished.

      So why no Davis at Ayala???
      The true freshman was pulled for the one who beats him in the room ! Red Shirt Fresh just didn’t have the strength of Carters he did have more shots than Carter

      I don't agree with your assessment at all.
      There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Ferrari lost any confidence AT ALL. He stayed in the match up until the final second.
      Now Ferrari KNOWS FOR A FACT he can hang with the best in his weight class.
      Ferrari just lifted his reputation in the nation by how he wrestled Starocci.
      I want to see a rematch. After watching that, I believe Ferrari is capable of beating Starocci.
      It was a fantastic match for Ferrari, and Coach Brands looks like a genius for putting him out there.

    I’m a bit surprised a very young Ferrari was able to stay in the match with a chance to win at the end against 4X NCAA Champion Carter Starocci.

      There was a lot of stalling early onin the match

    • @sdfdsdfd1227
      @sdfdsdfd1227 7 дней назад +2

      @@mattmatt9584 Genuinely curious, my impression was those shots from Ferrari would negate the stall calls of backing straight out. It seems like if you are attacking legs you are being more offensive than pushing someone out of the circle without shots of your own. That push out stall call felt more like freestyle than folk.

    • @michaellazor2659
      @michaellazor2659 7 дней назад +5

      @@sdfdsdfd1227ehh, I get what your saying but really it’s just another form of stalling. I mean clearly Ferrari is special. After his redshirt I can see him being a 4 timer, but what he was doing was shooting and really just hanging on for dear life which he’s clearly really good at

      6-7 years in college wrestling doesn’t make you better. Ferrari is young and hungry it’s honestly mindset that takes you far. If you’re excited to compete huge difference. So I’m not surprised Ferrari did amazing

    Hmmm. . . I thought Nagao would have wrestled in place of Davis. Maybe Cael just wanted to give McHenry (senior +) the honor of wrestling on a special night, even though he got dominated. A guy like McHenry probably shows up day after day, year after year, helping the team but never getting a chance in competition. Getting back to Nagao, he has wrestled 52 matches at PSU, and he did fairly well getting to and wrestling in the NCAAs. He has gone off the radar.

    The same skills that made Tom an olympian are not the same skills that makes him motivate men. I'm a huge wrestling fan. I attend the big tens and NCAAs. IA does a good job at recruiting hs standouts, generational talents, and acclimating them to the grind of DI athletics. Then Tom does what Tom does - he continues to grind. His wrestlers get tough but not better. Its patently obvious that IA is the North Korea of college wrestling programs. They got muscle, they got resumes, they can take a beating, and most of the time get up return to their post - but they wilt on the world stage. Whether in arts or athletics, virtuoso performers are much more than willpower military machines. They must engage their heart & passion as composite human beings. The best and brightest win in rarified air because they improve without being introspectively critical. After getting used to the toughness of college, Iowas grapplers don't improve. They are all like Kemerer. They end up physically emaciated (think McDonough), psychologically exhausted (Lee, Marinelli). By the time March rolls around The team looks like a bunch of bandaged civil war veterans. As chaplain i was responsible for the spiritual lives of NFL & DI athletes. Across the board all athletes work until exhaustion and the fun comes with winning. Its fun to win. But his recruits are not winning. They're not having fun. And the fans are not enjoying it. New case study: let watch Ben Kueter follow this same pattern and end up another patient in the VA medical center of college wrestling.
