Have you used poplar wood on any projects? It is a little more expensive then cheap pine but tends to be a better choice especially for building shelves and such... I'm guessing you don't plan to do any milling so you may find a place local to buy rough cut lumber and maybe invest in a inexpensive planer for making more finished wood for projects.... sure beat the ol junk box store twisted, cracked and unevenly cut lumber.
@@jasonandrus1981 poplar is way more attractive for sure. I've found a local guy with a small band mill close to the shrimp boats. Most of what is available around here is yellow pine. I'm hoping to get some rough cut from him for siding the outdoor cook shack we plan to build. I do miss milling my own!
