was really lost with this and I watched your video and in less than 2 minutes I had it. It's so weird that once you tell your body what to do it just adapts. Thanks heaps!!
Brilliant. I'm trying to learn Gogol by Chilly Gonzales which has this rhythm and I am really struggling to get it right. This has really helped. I owe you a nice cup of tea.
I think from my experience of teaching different people learn things in different ways. For some thinking about it logically as fractions of a beat works. For others thinking about "nice cup of tea" works. Enjoy the broken chords!
I've been studying Chopin's Prelude in E Minor which has a duplets against 3s. This is very helpful. I am also studying Debussy's Reverie which has 4s against 3s. I am going to search your videos and see if you if you have one on 4s against 3s. Thanks again!
Hi. Glad you found the video helpful. I'm afraid I haven't done one of 4s against 3s, although you'll probably find the same techniques of initially doing it separately with a metronome helpful. However, with Debussy you often need some tempo rubato so eventually it doesn't want to sound too metronomic. The Reverie is a beautiful piece - enjoy learning!
I spent ages trying to do this until I thought about it more logically as fractions of a beat. Duplets are 1/2 a beat and triplets are 1/3 of a beat. So it's like ubermench3000 says above. I like the idea of simple exercises without the complicated fingerings often found in these pieces. Just about getting the hang of the scales and will be trying to do broken chords next - that'll be interesting!

Thx, this helped me a bit, I've been playing for many years and this thing still is hard for me.
I'm a noob who got stuck at Chopin's prelude in Em with the triplet on right and doublet on left. Video was absolutely helpful

Instantly helpful, thank you!
You could remember it as Together right left right (with the triplet in the right hand)
Very useful tip!

easy: carol of the bells
ugh I why do I suck at it :| Its so hard to play 2v3 or 3v4
bansheezs it is difficult. I'm sure you will get it. It can take quite a lot of separate practise. Also, use a metronome.
It reminds me of patting your head and rubbing your belly with both of your hands at the same time.
