As someone who has worked in the film and television industry for nearly 40 years, I find your reviews and analysis insightful and refreshing. Although i get to use the highest end gear on professional projects, I have been use the prosumer stuff on my personal work for the past few years. Although you claim that this is more of a hobby for you, I think you have a mentality and approach similar to mine - If it works, i can use it. Andrew Lock is and was my go-to reviewer for in depth technical info, but your no-nonsense, no bullshit approach is welcome. I was considering getting a pair of GVM 500B (like you, after doing a month of research) lights for my interview setup, but I'm leaning back towards the aperture 600d after watching your videos.
I think Aputure might release their new 600X based on BLAIR engine, so 600d and 600d Pro should be discounted like 1200d now. They actually priced new 1200X the same as 1200D originally, so if this is the case for new 600X, then this will be no brainer. GVM is not that bad for the price (especially when there is a promo running), but for anything more serious their all over the place CCT at different power settings is no go IMHO.
Yesss!!! I love this!!! I'm writing this as I start watching your video. I hope Kupo, Avenger and Matthews come out on top. Can't wait to finish the video!
Quick question- Seeing that you're in Poland, does an Italian-made Avenger c-stand cost less than a US-made Kupo c-stand? Here in the US, Kupo is cheaper than Avenger, but Matthews (US made) are more expensive than Avengers.
I had an impression that Kupo is manufactured in China (I've heard that watching some gaffer channels). So far it seems here in Poland Kupo is the cheapest although I haven't checked the prices lately. 3 years ago when I bought first Kupo stand it was 30-50% cheaper than Avenger anything. I kept buying Kupo on the assumption it's still cheaper, maybe I should recheck :D. But when I've been searching for some grip accessories (grip heads and cardolini clamps) Avenger was still more expensive.
I want to get myself 2 C-stands to compliment my existing kit of normal/small light stands. I'm just hesitating between leveling leg or the ones where the base comes off. I downsized my vehicle recently so removable turtle base sounds good, but I do shoot outdoor now and then so worried I'll miss the leveling leg? What do you think?
TBH I never used leveling leg so far. And I used turtle base maybe twice :D. Both c-stands are folding the same way (all legs are then flat with the center column) so not sure how that impact the transport approach. Unless your new car is so small that you cannot fit the c-stand with the legs attached, then you know the answer :D (turtle base). And you can probably get 1 with leveling leg and one with turtle base from the same vendor, they usually have both options for each size of the c-stand :D.
@@JoATTech it's a Peugeot 208, so you get the idea. I do have a slightly larger older vehicle and might rent a van for those really big projects, but still aiming to use the 208 (electric) the most. I saw others saying they never use the levelling either, can't say I felt that need either with the standard stands, but maybe a few times. One of each I might as well do two leveling legs because they're gonna stack on top of each other anyway in the car. Of course still need to carry all the other gear 😅🙈
@@mahutaproductions8498 It's possible to rent quite big VAN here in Poland for ~25€/$ a day :D. But I still want mine :D. I guess if you fold the back seats you should be able to put in folded c-stans (my longest Neewer is 180cm long when folded down). You can also try put it diagonally. I bought these leveling ones, becasue they were discounted (only reason :D).

Kupo is the best I got :D
Really appreciate all your detailed content!
Thx!
It's hard when surrounded by jackhammers and angle grinders :D
You will get more subs man. It will just take time. But I see the value in all your videos. Good luck man
Thanks.
Not super fixated on subs, I'm rather happy if my videos help someone.
But lately subs game is strong with this channel :D.

At least I know who watched to the end now :D
Davinci Resolve voice isolation makes miracles :D
