This is so good! While Kate Bush sings from the perspective of the mother, this feels like it's being sung by the pallbearers as they carry the coffin, I love it!

I think that it's because was a call from the other side, not a memory.
the song is clearly a mother mourning the loss of her son, both a letter to and about her little boy, however that "Fall in!" is the call from the other side in what would have been the most calming thing that the boy would have known. A sense of "this is the place that I must be at." with this I think it's the last time that the boy sees his mother, through his spirit, before he moves on.

whenever I hear this song I begin to tear up. my father was in the military for 10 years, and thankfully he is still with us but to think what could've happened... this song makes me think about that. I'm about to serve in the military. This song is so impactful for me because no matter how great America is, the military is still failing in supporting veterans. And its important to recognize the effects of war and how much is affects everyone. We can easily coin service as glorious and filled with bravery, but there is so much pain on both sides of the war. I recognize the many issues that lie in the military, but I am prompted even more to serve to advocate for veterans and actively work to resolve the many problems within it.

Insanely beautiful arrangement, the accordion adds something almost ghostly or otherworldly.
The cries of ghosts come from it, voices distorted beyond recognition harnessed to create songs, it is a very unique instrument and a favourite, fortunately my culture is very fond of them and I can enjoy them on a near daily.
