Great , but I saw the game and those frozen images dont tell the shambles argentina was...in play in one form or another argentina had no midfielders in recovering positions wile attacking and no midfilders protecting the back line...they were so desorganised that it was painfull to watch... croatia was blocking the passing angles of the ball to messi that is true, brilliantly in fact because croatia managed to have 5 midfilders sometimes in line as the centerforward was very hard working and cover alot of the pitch...messi understanding that he was being targeted by the entire croatia team simply quit playing, until the last minutes when he was collecting the ball from a CB position, thats how deep he had to drop..sad to watch realy.

Other than Messi, Argentina doesn't have a better player on pretty much any position at the moment. There are a couple of future superstars in Croatian team now that are still unknown, like Kramaric or Rebic, who will be as good as Modric or Rakitic on the peaks of their careers.

1. Argentina’s strengths are talent, possession and creativity, physical force is not something they should bet on. In this case the midfield is the most important. Messi cannot play in the midfield because he cannot run the entire game and he is resting, from time to time, on the field to regain his energy. The other 3 midfielders will have to do extra effort for these periods of time. Messi needs to be the entire game on the field for his extraordinary passes and his extraordinary finishing abilities.
2. Higuain and Dybala can play very well together (they are playing for the same club) Higuain is a very good nr. 9 and Dybala can go back in the field to receive passes and can play as a midfielder from time to time.
3. Dybala and Messi can switch places at any time.
Di Maria should be left midfielder (LM), (this was his best position at Real Madrid). Mascherano should not play in the midfield; he also cannot run the entire game. In a 4-3-3 (with one striker) he can play CDM and stay always on the back, in this case RM and LM can be transformed in wings - this can be a solution if extra defense is needed.
However, it is too late to switch to this formation because a lot of training is necessary. Argentina will probably go home after the next game. I really hope that this will not happen.

Great , but I saw the game and those frozen images dont tell the shambles argentina was...in play in one form or another argentina had no midfielders in recovering positions wile attacking and no midfilders protecting the back line...they were so desorganised that it was painfull to watch... croatia was blocking the passing angles of the ball to messi that is true, brilliantly in fact because croatia managed to have 5 midfilders sometimes in line as the centerforward was very hard working and cover alot of the pitch...messi understanding that he was being targeted by the entire croatia team simply quit playing, until the last minutes when he was collecting the ball from a CB position, thats how deep he had to drop..sad to watch realy.
Banega should be there also because he is strong physically and he can score anytime
