Found it after taking a break and resting a little, One thing for sure I hate kia. With 225000 miles. This van going to the crusher pretty soon. That's going to make me very happy.
I own one of these and was looking to do this exact job. I've done a lot of engine work in the past, but mostly Subaru. It was very convenient for me to have you walk through the procedure and take away all the guesswork. As you know, it's easy to lose a lot of time fiddling around with an unfamiliar engine... especially when you're hunting for bolts with your fingertips. I was very impressed by how you communicated the steps in such a way that it was clear without being over explained. Thank you for putting this together. I'll never know how much time you actually saved me by showing me what to look for... probably a lot. I'm glad I watched this first before getting started. Great Job!
In the video you mention to put that gasket maker on corners but only see yo pt 2 cover on front and 1 on back is that for a reason or did you just edit out the rest of the 4 corners
Yeah it can feel overwhelming. Having a manual or a video that guides you through the process can help bolster your confidence. If you have any questions feel free to post them 👍
This video would have been great to watch before I did this the first time haha. Question though- do you have to do anything special to replace the cam end plugs on the drivers side? The gasket set I bought previously didn’t have new ones in it, so I didn’t bother messing with them. But now they’re leaking. Any advice would be great- thank you!
Honestly I'm not sure 😕. I haven't had to replace one before and the manual doesn't say specifically. The labor time is 4.5hrs. Sorry that's not much help.
wow... I'm exhausted. lol A couple of questions, please.... do you have to do the front and the back? I know I have a leak in the front, can I just do that (or have it done), and what is a reasonable price to have this done? (mine is a 2002). You did a great job! I'm impressed! Would have loved to hear it when you got done, but I'm sure it ran well! Thanks!
Thanks 🙂. The valve cover gaskets come in a set. So you have both on hand. But if you only want to replace the one that's leaking yourself that's totally up to you. If you have a shop do it I'd have them do both. You're saving over the long term total cost of vehicle repair. And you can sleep soundly knowing it's all taken care of 👊
Dealer did mine under warranty; lasted 14 months. I did myself bc they wanted 1400 and insisted they needed to do front and back. I am on my 4th alternator-much easier to buy a lifetime guarantee and switch it out yourself. Last go-round I installed a shield made from an aluminum pie pan to try to keep the oil from deep-fat frying the alternator.
This is a 2003 with the 3.5L. If I'm not mistaken 2002-2005 are the same (North America). I'm not sure if the procedure is the same for the second gen 2006-2014.
What I don't get. Why didn't you show us where exactly that last bolt was on the rear valve cover. You blab about it but it doesn't help us to locate it. I'm there now and don't see it. This video would of been perfect if not for that. So next time, take a couple more minutes and use your camera to show where the f ING bolt is. I'm so upset right now. Keep my mouth shut because I want to to say something else 😤 #$%@
Good question, Both the left and right side heads have places that need gasket maker before the valve cover gets put back on. Otherwise it may leak oil.
Great Video... Beats reading a book for sure
Thanks Roger! I'm the kinda guy that prefers pictures when I read a manual. Following a video is even better 👍
Omg such a great teacher! I need to do this. Thanks for the tip on the spark plugs as well. Thank you thank you thank you

For sure, this is intimidating. I appreciate your thorough walkthrough. Good job locking the camera focus and adjusting the camera angles.

How long did you wait before putting top back on with valve cover gaskets in top after putting gasket maker?
I have a friend that needs this done...But, sheesh... This is alota stuff to remember to put back....Alternator was a total beast to replace....😫😫😫😫

Haha dang. That’s alright- thanks for the response anyway. 🙌

where do you bought the valve cover washer bolts?
If all you need are the bolts then you might try eBay or a local junk yard.
I did this 3 times and it is leaking for 4th time..changed the alternator twice. bolt torqued..added silicon...any other tips for my last trial?
@@BevnotyAttia Where is it leaking from? The front, side or back?

Rubber!!😂😂😂 that’s too funny! 260,000 miles, more like very hard brittle Plastic! 😂😂 sure sure petrified rubber. Maybe from the synthetic oils???😢😂😂
I’ve got 320k miles on mine all original. Lol I’m about to change the gaskets.

@@maximuspayne7354 Sorry you're upset. Are you able to push back the plastic timing cover?
Do I need gasket maker on the left side as well?
