What A lovely , or I would say very good edited vid itself + the music brought me back and at the same time noticing how the world is living in a loop . Succes
A gem. A short and compelling little piece of Americana. Where did all the optimism go? Ask Electro. I hope many more people see this. AND I'M NOT AT ALL SHOCKED THAT MARVEL COMICS "BORROWED" the name ELECTRO for their villain from Westinghouse. Electro Marvel showed up in 1964 fighting Ironman. Turns out the character is from the 1930s and comics were all made in New York City where the fair was, so comic writers and artists were there to... study him. Marvel is Busted!
Good point. I'm not a big comic book fan but that does make sense. Many of the folks who attended the first World Science Fiction Convention in 1939 New York made it over to see Elektro as well - which probably inspired a few writers as well. The July event was a busy weekend for New York - they had the on-going World's Fair, The Worldcon and - on same weekend - Lou Gehrig gave his famous "Luckiest Man Alive" retirement speech at Yankee Stadium. I think the optimism disappeared in the less heralded second year of the World's Fair. The Germany pavilion pulled out of course after the country invaded Poland and England was at war....hard to see a positive future at that point.
No. In the doc, you can see all the gears inside are still there. But he's 80 years old now and spent 20 in pieces so, nope. I think the last time he worked - on film anyway - was the 1960s...
