    In my opinion this is the is the best alteration, very simple to do, for excess of lenght in back leg. I think it can work also for those persons who have prominent calves, don't you think, Jane? Thank you so much for your precious teaching! 😍

      Thanks! Yes, if you just have a little vertical length bagging out at the top of the calf, this can pick it up. If you need to add room for a prominent calf, there’s another adjustment for that (to make more room)

    Thank you for the info on how to address this problem ~ It would have been wonderful to have seen the results after the adjustment was made to your student’s garment.

    I never seen this technique before, so impressive, and wondering how it would improve on garment. Also my only concern is the true-up outseam looks too curvy.

      :) You can "smooth" the curve a little bit after making this adjustment. :) Thanks for watching

    Game changer.❤️ I have question on leg difference since hip surgery- where do I add the 1” difference to say my right hip? At the waist or hem?

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  4 года назад

      Hi Rosemary, do you need to add width or length at your right hip? :)

    • @rosemarybarrett7650
      @rosemarybarrett7650 4 года назад +1

      J Stern Designs I need 1” of length.

      @@rosemarybarrett7650 Hi again, Add 1" to the side seam/waistline edge on both the front and back leg... blend to original CF seam edge at waistline. ... You will need to create a left and right leg & make this adjustment to the side that needs it. Let me know if this makes sense.

      J Stern Designs I think so. Will give it a try. Thank you

    Thank you for your detailed explanation. However, I'm wondering how I'd apply this without being obvious on a jeans? Sorry if this question sounds ridiculous, I don't really have much knowledge in sewing...

      Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier! .. These adjustments are on the paper pattern. After you finish adjusting your pattern... You will cut them out of fabric... The fabric won't know that you did this adjustment! Thanks for watching

    Thank you so much for this! My excess occurs from back thigh to the back knee. Can adjustments be made in the two areas, or should the back thigh be raised high enough to remove the excess from the back knee.

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  2 года назад

      So sorry I didn't see your comment earlier! You can do this adjustment and raise the back to get rid of excess fabric. It really depends on how your muslin fits!

    How should I position my guidelines if I pleated the extra volume out straight across under the leg instead of on an angle?

    • @JSternDesigns
      @JSternDesigns  2 года назад +1

      If you have loose fabric under your butt, look from the side view to see if you have diagonal wrinkles across your side seam pointing down toward the back leg. If you have these wrinkles, that means you have too much vertical ease on the back leg. You can pleat it up along your full hip at CB (blending to 0 at the side seam) to pick up the fabric, Then scoop the base of the crotch curve to maintain the original length of the back crotch. This two step process removes excess vertical length on the back leg. :) Let me know if this makes sense. Thanks!

    Is there an alteration to fix this issue on a pair of jeans that I have already sewn? I can change the pattern for future pairs of these jeans, but would like to correct this on the pair I 've sewn and are otherwise perfect.

      For reference, I can pinch about 1/2" + of excess fabric.

      @JSternDesigns  4 года назад +1

      It's a little tricky to adjust ready to wear jeans because you have to carefully pick out the topstitched center back seam first... Then you can scoop the back crotch curve a little bit to pick up some of the excess. Then topstitch the seam again.

    Jen, I need to pull up more than 3". Will this method be appropriate?

      Hi Rekha, This technique only works for about an inch of excess... anymore than that will through the pattern off grain. I'm wondering if you're working with the right size.
