I agree about beat changes in the middle of a song. They’re usually way too abrupt. The way you likened it to song progression changes to the way it happens in rock and metal is exactly how I always feel rap can improve

i just came back to this since thug is locked in. he's really special after all he's so influential. and yes we don't mainly listen to him for lyrics we listen to him for the sound. flow. his instrumental voice and production he's a whole package. i know u guys focus on lyrics. rhymes.etc because thats the type of rap u grew up listening to and while this is new to u or not what expect. in my opinion old school rappers still hold the pen game but in term of skills they aren't skillful as this generation. this generation rappers can rap on old school beats but old school rappers cannot rap on today beats without sounding boring and be off beat. only a few exceptionals and for thugger he's the beat and the beat is rap lol
