    BUILD PLANS NOTE: After some time has gone by since this project and consideration, I would like to make some improvements in a version two of this design before releasing build plans. So for now the build plans are not available, but a new version in the future.

    Sorry if I missed something but what is the point of using the ball bearing standoffs to isolate the speakers from the stands if you anyway are driving a screw through the plate into the stand?

    Beautiful! I wish I could get wood that high quality where I live. As it is, if I ever tried to thread a woodsert into the end-grain like that, it'd split the moment I applied any torque. :(
    I typically use solid wood due to broader availability, but the humidity changes so much here, I typically see warpage by the time I get home from the store.

    would be cool to make a version of these with removable panels or even cloth grills to hide the weights.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  2 года назад

      I personally like the look of the weights and understand not everyone will. The idea was to design something that does not look bulky and heavy. I think covering up the space between the legs will go against what i set out to do. I am happy with the outcome.

    Hi, I can’t find links to the metal ball standoffs and swivel feet in your description. Would you be able to add these? Also, the plans don’t appear to be on your website yet. Many thanks.

    Hi sir a very effective design , but like one or two others I’m a bit unsure about the weights . Although as a hifi enthusiast I understand your thinking . Would it be possible for you to construct a container in the shape of a pyramid that would sit inside your stand , and contain a similar amount of weight even if you have to cut them up . But as I say I fully understand about them being a talking point , but I’m afraid with my dear wife it would be a very short conversation bless her . 👍👍👍😀

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, not everyone will like the weights for aesthetics. I personally like the 'quirkiness' of it, and it fits nicely into my space. The idea was not to have a bulky looking design, and the weights made sense. Building something inside the space between the legs is not what I was looking for. For me I achieved my goal, but it will not be for all, which is fine with me.

      You could probably easily make a box and fill it with sand, or make a holder for a smallish "medicine ball" / sand filled rubber ball. Or fill with lead shot if you don't mind having lead in a contained space

      I had every intention of making build plans for these, however after some careful consideration, I would really like to do a version 2.0 of these, because I think I can make them better. So, for now I don't think I will make plans available for these until V2.0 comes along.

    I wonder if this makes a difference in sound quality because it will take a long time to copy such a project if it doesn't benefit me at all. It would be nice to do it if improvements can be found. The video shows nothing at the end.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  2 года назад +1

      To my ears it made a difference on my speakers in my room. It is difficult to portray results in the video, I can only tell you in my own words my experience. It's like a product review, you can believe the reviewer or not, at the end it still shows nothing but an opinion. Hope fully I could add some additional interesting content in terms of showing how it was designed and built at least.

      @ngsam3362 2 года назад +1

      If you think this is a part of furniture and interior design, it is very good. DIY's craftsmen👍
      If you really need a "HI-FI" speaker stand, um... design is wrong, material is wrong, parts is wrong.

    • @RennieAsh
      @RennieAsh Год назад +1

      @@ngsam3362 And why is that? What makes a speaker stand "hifi" ?
      For me, a speaker stand should have minimal surface area, look nice, be "solid" but also decoupled from the speaker (can easily do this with a foam pad). These stands could easily do most of that. You could easily add a sand ball instead of using gym weights, and wouldn't cost any more.
