A big problem is that the scares are predictable.
As an audience member, you know there's no danger unless a sound is made. When the characters are being properly quiet, there's 0 tension.

I really enjoyed the first and third act, but the second act drags because we're all just waiting for them to reach the pizza place and the docks. The journey wasn't interesting enough.
And also with Sam being terminally ill, it kinda lowered the stakes a little bit. It sounds horrible, but every time she was being chased by the monsters I was thinking "Well she doesn't have much time left anyway" lol
Yeah the novelty factor has worn out so they need to add something new to reinvigorate the franchise. You can't redo the same movie again and again just swapping out the characters.
I got the impression that Joseph Quinn’s character was suffering panic attacks and that in those two moments where he was making a lot of noise were because he was panicking and not in complete control of himself. As someone who suffers from them myself, I got it. He didn’t come right out and say he had panic attacks, but that was my impression, and I thought it was a nice way to build tension in those scenes
Someone else mentioned this to me and while I understand (as a person who suffers from panic attacks and medical anxiety)......I think I'd personally manage that situation better still.....but even if not then I think it makes him an even worse character for the reason that he intentionally stuck by her side after being asked to leave. So he's putting her in danger knowing he has those involuntary attacks.
He's was a grown adult acting like a terrified 4 year old. What makes his excessive fear worst is the fact that every other adults fear is believable yet they make him literally tremble. Pathetic dynamic

My personal favorite of the 3 but I think some of your complaints are legit.
I thought it was good, just not as good as the first 2 were, although, trying not to spoil anything, I did love the "jazz club" scene
Okay but are there any aliens and fights with the military. I don't want the whole run-time to just be couple people acting scared in silence. The first one was mostly suspense thriller and 2 was more aliens and action packed. It's hard to top that.

Cloverfield is amazing. I only saw 2 and 3 and they're both great. Not sure if the Cloverfield brand would boost ticket sales though as the franchise is doing amazing as its own thing.
Cloverfield is actually good. This? No. I would prefer it to not be a part of the Cloverfield movies, so as to not taint them.
I still think the first movie is the best but I actually enjoyed this more than the second but that might just be me.

I agree it could have been a drama film about a girl dying finding friendship & love from a stranger minus the monsters it could have been that w/o the monsters. We need the ORGINS of the monsters & why they choose earth & how the military prepared before telling the public

I really enjoyed this movie . I did get pulled into the sappy stuff in the mcvie . I'll admit to that, lol.
I didn't find his character annoying , I just saw a young man, in a different country than his own,
scared. At times , I didn'tt know if he was kind of supposed to be a metaphor for a stray cat that needs help and latches on to someone.
This movie didn't show us anything new about the creatures, no back story or anything , which I did expect a little something since its the beginning. We did get that they becon one another to 13:20 that they apparently like rotting pumpkins , lol.
The two main characters basically save each other over the course of the movie.
It would have been cool if at the beginning of the movie , we some how hace an encouter with the couple from Cloverfield. Maybe they are heading out to have their day at Coney Island like it showed in flash backs in Cloverfield . But that would open up a LOT of explaining to be done , lol.
Ps. I DID jump once during the movie ,but not at a scene I guess I was supposed to , lol. It was when the ventriloquist balloon popped ! That made my body quiver , lol. But I do have tendinitis, so loud sounds escalate the ringing in my ears.
Lupita deserves an Oscar for this. Chick is HER man. She can act with just her eyes. I enjoyed the fact that it shows that just because the “world is ending” shit doesn’t stop in life (cancer/fear). NYC was also the perfect location for this…
It sounds like (from your point of view), that this movie suffers from 3rd "movie of a cool concept" fatigue. If this was the first film, you probably would have loved it, and hated Quiet Place 2...
Hard to say. I was definitely more interested in the families in the first 2 than I was the people here and the horror aspects were far better in each film as well. But that's also an issue, yes.

think they mentioned in the second movie; there was an incident where people started pushing & panicking to get onto the boats, causing a lot of commotion, and this ended up getting a lot of people massacred by the death angels… i was expecting to see that in this movie.
I loved how good the acting was. Joseph Quinn looked so scared😢
Aww I really enjoyed the movie. The acting was fantastic. I loved the underlying story with Sam’s character. Yeah Eric was having panic attacks with the water. I wish he would’ve explained it at some point. I thought if it Eric doing the the magic trick at the end really enhanced Sam’s last moment in the place she had the best memories with her dad.
I didn’t understand the part where literally all of New York started walking super loud down the street though 😂

I agree and disagree with you. The movie was not boring to me. I really enjoyed the slow moments and watching it from her perspective. She doesn’t intend to survive. And he being scared and getting panic attacks was very realistic. He prob wouldn’t have survived without her. I don’t think it was scary but I still felt the tension. I didn’t expect the cat to die, but I wasn’t sure who would die first, him or her, or both. Also, I would have liked to see a bit of a learning curve about them learning they needed to stay quiet. Just 10 extra minutes would have been fine. I agree, the first two were better but this one is not bad! And I want to rewatch it. I may be biased because I love Lupita and Joseph lol.
I could’ve told you who was gonna be the strong & fabulous character just by looking at the movie shots

I really enjoyed this movie. I didn’t find myself complaining about characters doing stupid things like the first A Quiet Place.
The sewer scene?? the guy under the car?? the crowd of people walking together to get to the water???
Really? I was complaining about the dumb things people did on screen for the whole damn movie. I thought that was happening alot alot more in this movie than the first tbh

Gotta disagree. Though I wish it had done more, and I think it couldn’t because its budget wasn’t large enough…I personally thought it was great. Not nearly as good as the first two, but not even close to being boring.

As someone who hasn’t seen the prior movies. How do people have babies? Like how do they keep them quiet when there are monsters that prey on sound?
the family uses a soundproof box with an oxygen tank in the prior movie
They can do it on an island with no monsters. In part 2 you see a community with lots of kids and homes where you can get it on without risk. But then they accidently brought the aliens to the island.
I remember chewing on my food very slowly seeing part 2 in theaters

I actually liked the aliens and still found them scary, but I couldn’t stand Joseph Quinn's character. He was just unbelievable. It could've been a sweet story had he been a friend or family member of Lupita, trying to give her that last wish, but a complete stranger? Come on. You mean to tell me a young lawyer in NYC is, instead of following the authorities’ instructions to save his life, going to follow a complete stranger, dressed like a bum, in the opposite direction as the crowd, to get pizza? Give me a break. It was ridiculous. By the time he did the magic trick I wanted to scream and have one of the aliens take me out. At least it would’ve saved me from watching the rest of the movie.
Right?! I thought he was planning to steal the cat, that was why he was following her around. It just didn't make any sense.
I hated his character. Following some random girl like a lost puppy? Nearly getting them killed for no reason? And the whole plot with her just trying to go get pizza was also dumb. I fell asleep for the last 30 minutes of the movie.

Pay attention to the movie
The movie was horrible, audiences accept medicore as good because writing and movies suck so bad these days
It’s impressive how they got Justin Timberlake to do a British accent the entire movie.
I do want more backstory on the actual aliens themselves because krasinski says they have become bulletproof because of the environments they survived and the planet of theirs being blown up is why they come to earth, but why can’t we see into that more? Like this movie we got a scene of the crop mushroom the aliens eat it looks like but no further details on that, I liked it but yeah very heavy on the I am legend vibes I think
Son of a bitch this is exactly what this movie needed. My biggest complaint would be how Sam gets knocked out immediately and we come back to them somehow knowing to be quiet right away. I expected there to be the lore building type of stuff you mentioned, at least a little bit!
I loved this movie. Not gonna say it was the best of the three but it was pretty much what i expected it to be. Did not wanted to expect too much from it otherwise I might’ve gotten a little disappointed but no. Although I would have wished that there were more military scenes and people running on the streets and all but I kind of understand why they didn’t. The new director used the same formula, not letting the audience know more of what the characters know. We did learn a bit more about the aliens, not a lot but it was enough for me.
Honestly I thought this movie was awesome! Loved the spectacle of seeing so many of the aliens invading at once! However I do agree that this franchise needs a massive overhaul on what to do with the scares, the movie felt very repetitive after a while, getting somewhere then having to sneak around for 5 minutes, rinse and repeat. Also while I didn’t dislike the characters I wouldn’t have cared either way if one of them died at any point 😂

Rewatch part 2. They realized the noise portion very quickly too. Almost Everyone in that restaurant in the beginning when they’re hiding from them knew it was the sound that was giving them away
Yeah, it's never a good sign for me when I start thinking of how much time is left on the movie. It was mid tier. I was hoping for at least a battle scene or two with the military vs the aliens, but all we get is them blowin up bridges.

it was odd that he showed up like he did, but how?
It was interesting to see what the creatures eat, an how they call other creatures to come eat with them, it was also cool that they had a giant alien,
I do wish we could have saw more about them, maybe some changes,
They missed a big opportunity, an that could have been having 1 of the characters come across a piece of the astroid that was left over, we could have learned more about where they are from an maybe saw how they reperdiuce that could have been cool.

I’m just an average moviegoer who wants to be entertained during the time I’m in the theater. This movie did not show any of the fans of the franchise anything new. As a matter of fact I thought it was boring and just a money grab.

@@jonfreeman9682 I would not say that it sucked, but it was kind of boring. The only difference between this movie and the first two is that it occurred in NYC. And there was a cat in about 90% of the scenes. You learn nothing knew about the aliens or their origins. I think you should wait to see it when its released on video. I do not know how much they charge for movie tickets where you live, but this movie is definitely not woth paying full price.

@@doobiedoo7623 So best to skip cinema and rent later. I think the first two are worth a 🎫 in cinema. It's $12 a 🎫 plus 🍿🥤 so say $20 for a night out is still affordable. I try to support cinema before they go bankrupt but there's just not many good sci-fi movies. They've got a new alien movie coming out this month and I'm going to see that even if reviews are bad. Disney won't make any more aliens if it bombs.
Seemed like the main story line was Sam getting pizza & the aliens were kinda just background characters. I was highly disappointed with the last like 45 mins of the movie. This could’ve been a movie on its on without the “quiet place” title & I probably would’ve enjoyed it more

This is a concept that works for 1-2 Movies, but if you don't really do anything new; add anything extra with the Creatures: their Lore, Characteristics or Types, then it falls flat because the Audience already knows how they work - how to properly Counter them... 😕
They need to add different versions of the Creatures - ones that work in a different way where being quiet doesn't help with them. Like, how interesting would it be if one Type can sense you another way, but is Weak TO Sound? Making noise would Kill, or at least Weaken, it but you run the risk of attracting the main ones! That would add a lot of Tension! 👀
The Emotional parts with the Human Characters are, for the most part, handled fine... They just need to do something new with the Creatures if they wanna keep this Series interesting in my opinion! 🙂
I liked this movie a lot
I actually liked it, and after following the production as much as I could, I knew this wasn't going to be a 100% straight up Sci-Fi Horror film, which honestly, the first two really aren't either. It's PG-13, so you know we aren't going to see people get ripped apart in any hyper-violent scenes. It's about the human element, and the simple things we grasp onto in the face of certain or almost certain doom. I don't think these creatures need anything else to them...keep the "Death Angels" simple. Anything else added to them would make them convoluted and possible silly (Although seeing them chomp down on those eggs within one of the meteorite crash sites, and introducing a much larger "King/Queen Death Angel" was interesting.
I've seen some people complain about the origin of the creatures or "Death Angels"...I honestly hope they never explain them or show their origins, it would completely ruin their overall mystique, much like how Prometheus and Alien: Covenant kind of ruined the mystique of the Facehuggers and Xenomorph.

Rather have seen all 3 hours of Horizon again than this Hallmark film.

…Maxxxine reviews have got some mixed opinions throughout. IGN gave the film 5% but I noticed that they also gave Last Jedi around 9% so I ain’t worried.

God thank you for getting out what I feel inside. This movie was trash. I also had a couple that were talking, laughing, and making noise the whole time. I also saw it in IMAX and it really wasn’t worth it.
This movie was boring. Cinematography and acting were great but chasing after the cat…people putting themselves in unnecessary loud or potentially stupid situations and the obsession with pizza. Also very little dialogue. I was bored and trying to figure out why I should care…..great review thanks.
I literally fell asleep twice during the movie
One of the creatures swam in a flooded basement during the first movie, but now they can't swim?
The water in that basement was like 3 ft deep.
Also in part 2 the alien fell into the lake and drowned.

I love the 2 movies bit this day one not that good and trailer lie because so many clip in the trailer that in the full movie is not even there and that old man who shut down the backup generator, well u will see it for yourself it was not even the old man the whole movie was boring i paid 45 for two person in IMax and was wasted

movie screening was packed (I had low expectations) and I fell asleep for 30 minutes!!! I woke up to them singing in mime in a bar, and yet I still knew what the (anti)-climax was building up to... other people were also yawning, and because its a "quiet" movie, I could hear them. it was hilarious 😂 nothing happens, then the predictable happens... CRAP

I’m with you on this the movie failed tremendously on it’s potential after knowing the premise I was expecting non stop action carnage destruction thrilling suspense and maybe a little drama but more on the trauma factor and it slammed on the breaks full stop! The ending could have been way more satisfying if the girl was playing the piano to make noise in reference to her father as a closure letting go moment then we hear the thunder of the creatures as they crash through the window and store and end cold or pan out as we see the boat floating under the broken bridge and then the creatures leap from it to the boat and cut it with a final meow that would have been brutal like the mist and put the movie on a new level. Lol
First, I’ve always loved your content. When I saw this movie was getting made I just thought why?! It’s like movie DLC which forgive me sounds stupid but it’s sequel after sequel. We only needed the first movie. We don’t need an explanation where these things came from or how they did. That’s what I love about Cloverfield. You are literally thrown into the chaos and have no idea what’s going on. Anyway, have a good day bro and looking forward to what you got releasing next

Haven't seen QP Day 1 yet but it sounds like all they had to do was have a Queen like monster like in Aliens to further the lore. That or show some kind of evidence of the creatures origin😎 Aliens is well known for the "Get away from her you BITCH!" Line from Ripley. Its not rocket science. But yeah maybe they chose to be too artsy. Its like comon man! So I hear ya Mike

wow its crazy that was one of my favorites of last year....and I've explained this multiple times....even if you're having a panic attack its no excuse for not realizing you HAVE to be quiet there. This from someone who has panic attacks. Also, he's still a shitty and unlikeable character because she asked him to go away multiple times and he knew he was putting her life in danger but stayed around anyway just to freak out and put her in danger. I felt it was just the same movie again but with different characters and location. It was nothing new or interesting. The mystery of the monsters is completely gone. More of a drama than a horror. I was rather bored watching it.
I thought it was a well acted, fairly depressing (due to Lupita’s character’s personal circumstances) film, but like you say, kind of retreading old ground with the universes rules or tropes already done to death in the first two films.
And a nearly two hour film where the car doesn’t hiss or meow ONCE?!? Get the fuck outta here

If Americans don't want it, it doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't want the sequels😅 A quiet place movies are ridiculously popular here in Asia and I watched it last night here in India and the crowd wasn't disappointed and enjoyed this one alot.

A BORING PLACE
This is so much better than you’re making it out to be. It’s a lot scarier than the other movies, and the story is very beautiful with a perfect ending. I think you wanted this movie to be something else, and were disappointed when it’s not what you wanted. Also do you not know what a panic attack is? You can’t really control yourself. All of your complaints are very dry and are extremely bias because you want the movie to look worse so people agree with you. Very unlike you I think.☠️

I didn't like the movie.
It focused waay to much on the lady and not enough about the story.
It didn't tie in anything about the last 2 movies or whatever.
And I'm just here waiting for Terrifier 3
