We look at the state of the Republican Party after Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s announcement Sunday that he has suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed Donald Trump to be the Republican Party’s 2024 nominee, making it a two-person race between Trump and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. With the pivotal New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, we speak with author Rick Perlstein, a historian of the modern conservative movement, who describes Trump’s iron grip on the Republican Party as “American fascism.” He says regardless of how many votes Trump gets, the real question is how his extremist supporters will respond. “The horse race doesn’t matter if the guys in the MAGA hats blow up the track,” says Perlstein.

@@1313tennisman The blanket "politics" is an inadequate word to the operation or subversion of governance. Say politics, and you could mean A: The debates and discussions of policy with the intent on reaching consensus to draw up laws. B: The conniving and scheaming of political leaders in order to gain advantages on making law or personal wealth and power C: The issuance of public statement in order to placate, rally or pacify the masses to achieve social stability. And so Zappa can speak of one politics while others looking to create positive change speak of another politics while someone complaining about the government speaks of a third politics.
The problem is we all just think of politics as B or C and end up throwing A in the trash.

They put up a highly unpopular old man that barely beat Trump in 2020 who is now supporting war crimes, killing of thousands of children, women, and even people waving white flags.
They have shutdown any possible aternative within the democratic process, the power brokers selecting the candidate.
So what can be done? At this point, I can only see anything getting fixed once it gets even worse, since so far it has not gotten bad enough. So let the democrats fail once again, as they are responsible for this situation almost as much of the GOP/Trump.

Read the words. Don’t criticize people’s words by the “vibe” that you, yourself, are putting there.
Your leader should be your own spirit. It’s very easy to read it this way. And more charitable.
I’m an avid anti religious secularist. We love, we have compassion, we can strive to have a deeper connection to the oneness of humanity without it being “churchy.” Churches and religion have attempted throughout history to have a monopoly on morality, contemplation of a larger consciousness, community, charity, I could go on. Please don’t give them the satisfaction, because you seem to tacitly agree.
The last thing we need is ignorant secular people sticking their snotty noses in to deride people who are expressing love and compassion and labelling them as notwithstanding because they MIGHT be religious.
Maybe you shouldn’t speak for “we the people” when your first notion is to assume someone’s beliefs when they haven’t expressed them.

      FACTZ.
Also, it's funny that someone mentioned your statement has "churchy vibes", simply for pointing out the potency of the Soul & the human Spirit, and that we don't need that. Atheists are so ignorant that they conflate any subject related to subtle energies and subtle body to dogmatic religion, which is a perversion of the Absolute Truth of Bhāgavat Dharma (Spiritual Law) & Spiritual Sciences such as Bhakti-yoga, Karma-yoga, Jñāna-yoga, Sāṁkhya-yoga etc.
It seems that due to a poor fund of knowledge, they have little to no awareness of Spiritual, Vedic/Dharmic/Yogic Sciences. The true identity of the self is Ātmā, Eternal Spirit-soul, not the illusory (temporary) body, which is only a vehicle for the Soul, which transmigrates through 8,400,000 species of life within this material universe in the cycle of saṁsāra, birth&death, as it is granted an appropriate body according it's past karmic accounts.
It' actually due to an absence of Dharma [adharma], that there is so much darkness, immorality, and exploitation going on currently as symptoms of the current age of kali-yuga, the age of sin, darkness, quarrel and hypocrisy --the symptoms of which were predicted in the ancient Vedic texts such as the Bhāgavat Purāṇa (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam), which was scribed into written form over 5000 years ago.
There is no political or social solution to a spiritual illness, which is widespread throughout humanity on Earth Planet at this time..
Anyway keep on dropping these simple, yet powerful messages wherever it's pertinent.
      Haribol 🙏🏼📿🌸🪔🔥(((🐚)))

They want a leader to do the deciding for them. Red states are a quagmire of dullards. Not to mention how unhinged they’ve become over race and gun rights.

    • @coreyham3753
      @coreyham3753 3 месяца назад

The democrats are just "incompetent" political organizers and businessmen with regard to electoral politics and state politics. Blame it on poor democratic leadership at the electoral and state level. If the democrats had a real smart business leader, for example, a Mike Bloomberg ... then they would dominate both national and state politics. Certainly not in every red state but in enough red states to essentially shut out republicans almost forever.
There are certainly a few strategies that democrats could employ, if they had good business leadership, given their overwhelming edge in the popular vote that could make them dominant. Why waste billions of dollars on essentially useless advertising that accomplishes nothing and changes nothing. Instead use those billions of dollars on a few strategies that would make a difference. For example:
      1) devote resources to local organizing ... just like Stacey Abrahams in GA .... who changed the electoral dynamics in GA. Hire a few thousand political organizers and thier families and move them to a few key red states. Notably those red states where the margin of GOP victories is relatively small. Maybe places like WY, MT, ND, SD, etc. Surely a smart business leader can figure out which red states would take the least voters to flip from red to blue. After all a few thousand organiers and their families and if each just got a few new voters might well be enought to flip a few states.
      2) Legally parachute in democratic voters into a few states and districts where they would make a difference. After all the democrats have millions of excess votes where they really are not needed (CA, NY, etc) Surely a smart business leader could figure out legal ways to "move" excess voters to districts and states where they could make a difference. Maybe ultra rich democrats could become residents there. Maybe democratic scholarships to students in those areas, or whatever. A truly smart democrat business leader would igure out how to use resources to legally "parachute" the necessry voters into close winnable districts and states. For example Boebert only won by a few hundred votes .... that should be an easy district for democrats to capture.
      3) Then once democrats shift the balance in a few states by smart business leadership and effective use of resources .... then they can amplify and leverage such changes by going to work on gerrymandering in the red states which is the true reason why republicans continue to dominate red states.
Come on democrats ..... get smart about understanding the game and get some superstar business leaders that can leverage all the advantages the democratic party has into winning the game ... especially in a few red states ... that would make all the difference in the political ballgame. Don't leave your fate to tired old politicians who just keep trying the same old losing political stunts .... get a real smart business leader who has shown they know how to win. Mike Bloomberg would be my recommendation or some of his top people, but there are probably quite a few others .... The democrats have nobody to blame but themselves because they certainly could dominate if they just give up on their tired old wasted strategies of wasting billions on useless advertising and lack of focus on strategies that could actually make a difference and implementing them.

Given the mass right-wing delusion that "dictatorship is somehow better than democracy" is beyond just Trump; it speaks to a growing cancer within American society that is much more frightening to me than any individual candidate.

FL needs a blue wave and I did notice 1 thing this year , compared to the last several years, is the absence of trump & Desantis signs & bumper stickers . Signs may be too early but seeing the absence of trump stickers and confederate flags from all the trucks (the majority choice if vehicle where I live), has been a refreshing change . That means that fascism is also a decision of the wealthy leadership to promote it and enforce it in the political decision making by taking the reins of the state and government. The people vs their govts, for we wage war not amongst ourselves but with Princes and Principalities, and we have only one King, and there is only One God.
This is why we must call for Direct Digital Democracy without Parties nor Politicians. And Now!
Citizen initiated referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws. As well as a Public Authority to audit police and prosecute bad actors in our own courts.
It means we can Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians.
This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented.
With the appropriate checks and balances, you could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc.
Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%.
The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would all be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination, that can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in a similar fashion at Scale.
It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on.
Thorium energy renders the global oil monopoly obsolete
An average person's lifetime's worth of energy with Thorium energy would cost just $100
It is safer, cleaner, and cheaper, allowing for desalination and carbon sequestration. It also can process toxic and nuclear wastes and in return produces the most effective cancer treatment known to man.
In the case of a complete failure the liquid salt cools into a container and then solidifies, it will be low level radioactive for 300 years, as opposed to extremely radioactive for 25k years. Thorium produce grams to the tonne in comparison to Conventional Reactors. It's compact elements don't require a pressure containment like with conventional reactors and so can be transported to remote communities who would be able to process their own waste for energy.
There is enough Thorium already mined for us to power the economy for another 1000yrs.
It can also be used to power Hydrogen converters for carbon free combustion engines.
It's the only technology that could scale to provide effective carbon sequestration. The cost is also a tiny fraction of current models.
      It also can't be weaponised.
Thorium energy is our only hope to survive Climate Change
Copy and share, make Oct 14 an annual event to occupy our govts without slogans or shouting, and only a flag of Peace, and let the children walk in front.

We contiuously dodge the real issue of so-called America Democracy. And (in my opinion) is that the US is not and has never been a true democracy. The more descriptive description would be what I call a "democratic-plutocracy". It is a system where votes really matter, but there is an extreme limit on their effectiveness. In our system, we get to vote for one plutocracy supporter over the other. Sure, we can pick whichever one offers us the best deal. The the nature of this best deal is going to be constrained in that it must continue to support the plutocracy.
This was never made more clear than in the mid-nineties, when the Clinton Administration had such corporate libertarian policies that it chased the Republican Party even further to the Right.
This is how "...a New American Century" morphed into becoming Make America Great Again.
And what did the Democratic Party offer as an alternative? Next to nothing.
A new political party must arise to challenge the plutocracy. Its major Tennant should be to change how political campaigns are financed. Until this happens, we can expect a further drift toward dictatorship, as the plutocrats suffer ever falling popularity and have to struggle ever more desperately to hang onto their power.

I fear you may be right. We do need some way to reel in the amount of money these candidates are spending. He who spends the most should not always be the one that wins. I believe as a country, we tried to do that at one time, but it failed. I also believe there are some issues in this country that the vote should be taken straight to the American people and bypass the elected officials. Those of a moral issue like abortion comes to mind. That whole thing was a joke in my opinion. If that vote had gone straight to the American people, abortion would still be legal in this country. Trump, the divider in chief.

There's a piece of me that looks at the confusion of Trump and wonders if that's also part of his play; confusion as a slight of hand to get attention and make strange connections that his followers don't even care about. Maybe we should also ask if in fact Trump isn't just quite insane, but knows that confusion is a tool for moving forward politically anyway.

@@CLlNT0N_BODYCOUNT_RESSURECTED Trump is still one of the most disliked candidates of all time. When Trump won the electoral college in 2016, he was the 2nd most hated. He was able to win due to the fact that Hillary was the #1 most hated. Sure, Trump's a couple of percentage points ahead of Biden, but that's because Biden is a walking corpse. A majority of Americans say they will never vote for Trump. A sizable percentage of Republicans say they won't vote for him. So, while he is popular among his base and definitely has a chance to beat Biden, that doesn't mean he's popular among the general public or that "America supports him." It's this type of delusional thinking that led to January 6th; his supporters literally couldn't believe he lost because, in their minds, America loved him.

Fritz Von Papen was Franz von Papen. His career is a nice warning for the Republican Politicians, von Papen the ex-chancellor made a nice career under Hitler from vice-chancellor to the ambassador in Turkey. Von Papen's advantage was, that he did not participate in the war crimes and was freed from prison soon after 1945. So if Trump becomes president, as Republican Politician save yourself and go for a job as ambassador in a developing country with nice beaches, like the Dominican Republic, Kenya or Sri Lanka.

It is critical for Americans to understand that liberal politics don't fight against fascism. They create the conditions for fascism. If you vote "to go back to normal," you're strengthening the fascist movement.

    • @willardchi2571
      @willardchi2571 4 месяца назад

What liberal politics? All we get is far right politics and right of center politics for decades now. Any real liberals are marginalized by both parties. (But only one party marginalizes liberals and fascists, so we're stuck voting for them again. But at least we can demonstrate and complain with them in power and not have to worry about being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night and disappeared to some American gulag.)

    • @dr.zoidberg8666
      @dr.zoidberg8666 4 месяца назад +2

@@willardchi2571 Liberal doesn't mean "leftwing." It means capitalism ruling over nominally representative democracy.
That type of political economy always breaks down because the interests of capitalists are in direct opposition of those of the working class -- the voters. It's an irreconcilable contradiction that leads to oligarchy, which inevitably creates critics of capitalism.
This is what spawns fascist movements. The point of fascism is to save capitalism from revolution. The dictatorship crushes opposition in a way that liberal governance cannot, then it burns itself out & returns the liberal order to power.
If we pursue liberal politics, we are pursuing the politics which creates fascism & which fascism exists to protect.
